- We are out this week at Big Pines Recreation Site outside of Yakima, Washington doing our campground review. This place boast great views of the Yakima River valley with its interesting scenery at this BLM campground.
This campground is a solar lovers paradise with most to all sites having great access to incoming sun for optimal solar and a couple of sites that will accommodate pretty much any size of RV.
With 37 sites it’s fairly small with paved sites and a ADA accessible walking path around the campground, all of this for 15$ a night (at time of filming 4/23).
The only real cons of the campground are the train tracks across the river and being close to the busy road that goes through the canyon.
This is a great treat of Eastern Washington camping with river access with some of the other recreation areas up and down river , perfect for rafting , boating and tubing during those hot summer days. We enjoyed our time hear and wouldn’t hesitate about coming back.

What do you think for 15$ a night ? Great views , the only cons are the traffic and the train.
Great price
Awesome videos my wife and I where across from you in the pop-up camper!!! In #20
How cool is that to see your rig in one of our reviews. We had a blast camping there and will for sure come back again !!! Thanks for finding the video and checking out the review. What were your thoughts of the campground ?
Looks nice
Was really good, love they wide open feel
I like it, wish we had blm around this area
We only have a couple BLM setups here in Washington , this one and 3 others are in a 10 miles span of each other. But they did a great job setting up this campground and also made it cost effective.
Is it FF? Having trouble figuring out reservations. Looks great and such a bargain!
Great question. It books through recreation.gov , the summer time (May -September) is reservations (except a couple of weekends that I could see) and the rest of the year it’s Frist come First served. Hope that helps and yes, it’s a great bargain.
Is it easy for kids to swim in the river, or is the current too strong?
At big lines the current was fairly heavy . I would assume it depends on the time of the year. You can check out our other video of Roza BLM site to visit as it has day use access with mellower water down there.
