This video had previously been removed from the NFL channels... and only recently been re-added. An insight into how the NFL viewed and now views the message in this video
Likely due to Colin Kaepernick. Colin was suing the NFL, etc. Colin decided to grow a fro and play the victim role. He popped outta a white girl and then was raised by rich white people and then grouped them into his crap. It wasn’t about politics, it was about money. Colin made more money off of being a fake black man victim than he ever could’ve being an average black QB. Now what you see is DEI to the extreme. Giving a black QB the MVP award last year when a white QB had better numbers. Or a white RB who was far more the MVP. The game isn’t watchable. From the fake slogans in the back of the end zones to the NFL gifting everything to Patrick Mahomes a lookalike of Kaepernick. When fans say it’s scripted, go watch lasts years Chiefs playoff wins and Super Bowl . Every game was the same. Hello, Taylor $$$$$$wift. The NFL is 90% black, the racist stuff is overdone.
I don't know if Bill Walsh is the best coach of all-time, but I think a case could be made that he is the smartest. He didn't invent the modern NFL with its reliance on passing over the running game; he reinvented it. I believe that Bill Walsh is one of those rare individuals who would have succeeded in any business he entered. Yet his business was football and there were many old-school coaches and GM's back in the day who mocked and ridiculed Walsh. The NFL used to be a "run-first" league. Yet, if you look at the NFL today, it is the exact opposite. How did that happen? It didn't happen with Bill Belichick. It didn't happen with Bill Parcells. It happened because of Bill Walsh. He took what he learned from Paul Brown and stretched it to a whole new level. One of the many things I love about Bill Walsh is that he didn't pander, he elevated. He didn't exploit, he lifted others. He wasn't perfect, he was authentic. He was like the cool professor who didn't adhere to the social traditions yet conducted himself with the utmost of professionalism. The game of football has a huge void with the absence of Bill Walsh who left this world far too soon, but his influence lives on today.
Wow. And had Vince Lombardi not gotten cancer, he might have done the same thing. Same progressive attitude on race & social justice, even as the ultimate moral disciplinarian.
I like the fact how Bill Welsh was will to be friends and be consulted by freedom fighter/former black panther/intellieçtual the great Dr. Harry Edwards.
I didn’t know Bill Walsh was socially conscious. I thought he didn’t care about his players. He told Dwight Clark to take a pay cut. He told Randy Cross he only wanted his good years. He cut many players before they got passed their primes. I was wrong I guess. Thought he only care about winning football games.
He was also a GM. He had to do what was best for his team.He began negotiating a deal with the Colts to trade Joe Montana for John Elway on draft day. Walsh also asked his staff what they thought he could get for Joe after the 1987 season before the super bowl wins in 88 and 89 when Joe had only two rings and 5 disappointing playoff exits.
The Football Life on Bill Walsh gave a pretty shortsighted segment on Bill's relationship with his players. The truth was, a lot of them were there visiting him in the hospital until his last days. That's how much caring there was both directions. Bill also made it possible for multiple players to go to medical school while they played there, so he cared about them more than was portrayed.
I miss Bill Walsh man...
not just as a 49er but as a bengal...
rest easy, because you will always be remembered.
I didn't know about any of this thank you to Dr. Edwards for sharing.

Bill Walsh was so ahead of his time a visionary seeing players as more than players what a man
Incredible insight into both of these impactful men. Once again NFL Films produces a winner. Thank you.
This was probably the best video in this UA-cam channel yet
Damn how lucky 49er fans were to experience the 1980s. Damn you all. 😂

It was an incredible time...especially as Silicon Valley was just starting out. The energy in the whole bay was off the charts

If that's the case, the only word I can come up with to describe the NFL is cowardly.

The 80's and a little into the 90's where the 9ers ruled the NFL. What a time. Dr. Edwards is always brilliant.

To live in the Higher Corridors of Human Endeavor.
Exactly. Well said.
Wow🔥🙏🏾
I didnt think I could like Bill Walsh any more but then I watched this video
If Dr. Edwards is not inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a contributor, it's beyond criminal.

You act as if individuals aren't allowed to have some kind of duality within themselves which is human nature.

They're not saying they're victims, they're speaking up for those that have no platform to do so. ✌🇺🇸
