Thank you for posting this. I miss Rolf Sovik. Sally Nordstrom told me at one of my lessons with her that Rolf was the best student she ever had ('cello). I will never forget hearing him play in the Nordstroms ' parlor one day in a concert so arranged that some of her younger students could hear a few of the best, somewhat older cello students. This piece of music is wonderful. If you like 'cello music, the film 'Beatocello' might interest you. Real music is life itself. WCAL-fm radio was responsible for the fact that I survived, so many years ago, junior high and high school. I owe a deep debt of gratitude to the late Sally Nordstrom, and to my late mother, to Rolf Sovik and to the Bharati tradition. Northfield has changed, but Anna Clift and David Carter have kept musical education 'cellowise thriving and wonderful at St. Olaf. May God bless them all, and all musicians and students of music at St. Olaf, the people of Northfield. Thank you Gao Hong and Carleton, too. . .But why was the wonderful small music hall with the organ destroyed? I heard Paul Zukovsky perform there and lastly, the Shujat Inayat Khan, a concert so spellbinding that its end was followed by silence, until a young man said to his companion, "That's AMAZING." Yes. Now the old music building at Carleton houses Poli-Sci--a stunning sacrilege in my estimation, but what do I know? May David Appleyard and his family be comforted.

Didn’t know this was put on UA-cam…
BRB, crying 😭 my last ever time playing in an orchestra was right there with this piece :)
A great tribute to a great conductor, teacher and mentor!
What a wonderful moment to conclude a wonderful career. Hats off to you, Steve!
WOW! 😍❤️ What an amazing performance and a great send-off! How many “orchies” played in this performance???
According to the description, there were over 400 alumni and current students!
