This is so beautiful. Seeing the choir holding hands and singing with such obvious love and joy in their faces moved me to tears. Thank you for sharing the light of Christ's love through this music! Such love and light is what's needed to combat the darkness and confusion of our times.
Eternal... so perfect! ... Dear heavenly Father, thank you... so very, very much... for sending your one and only Son! Jesus! Who saves his people... from their sins!
Well disciplined, unified with intentional diction - besides just being wonderfully musical - marks this choir as superlative. Here's a choir that other singers and choral directors should hear and emulate.
Anton Armstrong brings a spiritual magic to all of the performances he conducts. God bless you brother for what you contribute to the spiritual well-being to so many other souls thirsting for the beauty of choral performance. St. Olaf offers the very best academic choir which can be shared with those in other countries as the best our country can offer. Thank you and again, bless you for the repertoire, the rehearsal and performance techniques you share.
All is UNDER THE BLOOD OF JESUS...NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST US WILL PROSPER...WE WILL ONLY SEE THE WICKED PUNISHED...in JESUS name! Thank YOU! LORD! MANY ARE THE AFFLICTIONS OF THE RIGHTEOUS..BUT THE LORD DELIVERS OUT OF THEM ALL..THANK YOU! LORD! For the manifestation NOW (Ephesians 3:20-21) of YOUR WORD which goes forth to accomplish its purpose...
Amazing sound. The choir is a whole different level, spot on, most enlightening and a true tribute to Christ our Saviour. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Dr. Armstrong has been our guest several times over the years. Every time we work with him, I learn new and valuable things about choral singing, all of which can be heard in droves in this choir's singing.
For choir members and choir directors wanting an example of how to sing chorally with properly-necessary (excellent) diction - this is it. Beautifully musical besides. Bravo!
This is so nice! I always look forward to seeing the St. Olaf choir on TV during the Holidays. I have discovered so many wonderful choral music pieces through you group. Thank you!
WOW! Absolutely beautiful! I listened to this over and over. Kim Andre Arnesen's work is absolutely breathtaking. I love how the choir moves with the emotion of the music.
An impeccable I Jesu Navn: the perfect collaboration of words to music composition and music performance. So sensitively interpreted and performed by the great conductor Anton Armstrong, an upcoming great piano accompany pedagogy example Garrett Bond, and no other than the epitome of Midwest Lutheran Choir Sound, The St. Olaf Choir. Experience aural bliss as you hear , feel, and see " His Light In Us ". The thirtysomething Kim Arnesen a compassionate, creative, composer is not only Norwegian but also world class. He can only add to this grand and glorious Song by having it promulgate and send forth a Hellige Song ( Holy Spirit )
I just love what the St Olaf Choir do and Anton Armstrong is a master choral conductor. So glad we can hear all this beautiful music online. Only sad I can't get to Minnesota to hear it all in person.
@@dontyoufretnow You are so blessed to be near. I'm 11 hour drive away - Ohio. A trip to visit the campus in Minnesota and hear them in concert is on my bucket list.
Magnificently performed. This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard. I sent it to our music director and I am looking forward to our singing it this Christmas.
The singing tradition at St. Olaf is as alive and well as it was fifty years ago when I first them. What I find amazing in this video is the accompanist seems to be missing the little finger on his left hand. His playing is very sensitive and seems unaffected by the situation.
Hi St. Olaf Choir. How and where can I purchase this recording or the album where this recording is included? The site specified in the video is not working anymore. Thanks
Touch not HIS ANOINTED nor DO HIS PROPHETS ANY HARM...CONSEQUENCES...in JESUS name! Thank YOU! LORD!...SELAH...want to make it worse? I don't think so...
Janet Eimstad: They may have started it at St. Olaf, but college choirs across the Midwest are holding hands and moving with the music. I personally like it, but I suspect there is a deeper musical significance: the singer singing with one’s whole body, the choir singing as one body. I think it makes for music from the heart, music that touches the soul.
Pristine. Drawn to the throne in worship.
God I wish I could be young again and go back to my year singing with them in 1990-91, Anton's first year as director. Best year of my life.
This is so beautiful. Seeing the choir holding hands and singing with such obvious love and joy in their faces moved me to tears. Thank you for sharing the light of Christ's love through this music! Such love and light is what's needed to combat the darkness and confusion of our times.
Man 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Eternal... so perfect! ... Dear heavenly Father, thank you... so very, very much... for sending your one and only Son! Jesus! Who saves his people... from their sins!
What I need every Christmas. A good or great choir gives you chills. God bless Anton and his fine choir.
The focus, the joy on the faces. Thank you, St.Olaf, yet again.
Exquisite
Well disciplined, unified with intentional diction - besides just being wonderfully musical - marks this choir as superlative. Here's a choir that other singers and choral directors should hear and emulate.
Absolutely. You can hear every consonant, every vanishing vowel, and understand every word.
This is exquisite. I listen to it again and again. Beautiful harmonies, masterfully conducted, infused with beauty. Thank you!

I imagine this is what the angels sound like when they sing. So beautiful!
My heart sings with joy! ❤️
Thank you…
Amazing sound. The choir is a whole different level, spot on, most enlightening and a true tribute to Christ our Saviour. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
That's the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. This Choir is on a whole other level.
Dr. Armstrong has been our guest several times over the years. Every time we work with him, I learn new and valuable things about choral singing, all of which can be heard in droves in this choir's singing.
Bravo. I could listen to this without stopping. It brings me to such a state of peace. Thank you St. Olaf
Svært vakkert og fremført med innlevelse. God balanse
For choir members and choir directors wanting an example of how to sing chorally with properly-necessary (excellent) diction - this is it. Beautifully musical besides. Bravo!
Such a beautiful piece praising our Father. Especially love the piano part at 0:42
The soprano 1s really get to shine toward the end with their high note at 4:49, and it sounded angelic!
God bless the great Nordic ladies 😀. Beautiful ❤️❤️

Arnesen's ineffable composition-and an exquisite performance.
This helps to fix what is broken, and find what is lost.
What a gorgeous song. Tears in my eyes... sang with St. Olaf Choir 16 years ago...
What an honor that would have been.
Thank you, Olegirl! I have heard every St.Olaf Choir, since 1970.
What a privilege. To be a part of such beauty.
Gorgeous piece
Beautiful thank you
WOW! Absolutely beautiful! I listened to this over and over. Kim Andre Arnesen's work is absolutely breathtaking. I love how the choir moves with the emotion of the music.
I absolutely agree with you....again...my favorite little Norski friend!
Beatutifully sung Anton and St. Olaf.... what a joy to listen to you .....Thank you!
Truly beautiful and heart-warming...❤
❤ Chills and tears every time I listen to your music!!❤ Thank you!!

Superlative in an abundance of ways! Bravissimo! Keep it up St. Olaf.
Beautiful. Thank you for this...
Beautiful!

I love this! Its what Jesus Heaven must sound like! I hope...
This sound has so much depth and moving part of the song is smooth and the words are so crisp. Keep doing what you are doing
This makes me want to plan an especially simple, tranquil and musical Christmas--six months from now.
Peace, peace, beautiful peace!!
Oh, these youthful voices! I have goosebumps.
The pure in heart see GOD...Matthew 5:8...
I love how they hold hands!
Bravo St. Olaf! I wish I lived in MN. I'd be at every concert.
I live in the same beautiful town where ST Olaf is located. What a gift to be able to hear their music...a 7 minute drive from my house. I am blessed.

so expressive, wow!
Ferma il cuore da quanto è bello! ❤
i felt myself whenever i listen to the whole songs in the Board
Magnificently performed. This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard. I sent it to our music director and I am looking forward to our singing it this Christmas.
We are singing this in the next couple of weeks. It is truly beautiful. I hope we do it justice. We are pretty good, but not on St. Olaf's level.
Very soothing and uplifting! Great to hear at anytime but so much needed in todays' world. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year all!
Sublime! This evening, I have listened to this gracious, gorgeous and grand piece and performance, several times. It gladdens the heart.
Absolutely beautiful!!!!!
So beautiful hearing all the parts and the dynamics!!! God is so good!!
Perfection
Gorgeous! Sublime!
Stunningly beautiful!
❤ANGELS HERE ON EARTH❤
A true “one voice” sound
Just wow
Lovely, lovely, and nicely done. But the camera work at 1:36 makes the swaying look like it is multiple feet in every direction!
You are awesome!
Greetings from Croatia ^^
Bravo! ❤️🎵
❤
If I am asleep just come on..but you are close enough to come on now.
OMG can I come sing with you all next Christmas?
The singing tradition at St. Olaf is as alive and well as it was fifty years ago when I first them. What I find amazing in this video is the accompanist seems to be missing the little finger on his left hand. His playing is very sensitive and seems unaffected by the situation.
I stopped it at 5:14 and counted a full complement of ten fingers!
❤️🎶
👍

Hello Kim - A recording of this Christmas Festival performance is available here: bit.ly/2P38Awr Thank you for asking!

Beautiful music, but once I noticed it, I found the way the choir swayed from side to side a huge distraction!

Beautiful singing, as always ....but please stop the swaying, which makes me feel queasy!
Beautiful tone, however their diction is not very good!
You are correct. Words are mush.
There is no other choir that can come close to this ethereal sound!
So amazing!
❤
