I'm in love with you. I play your song for my son every night before bed. he's a 3yr old autistic spectrum ball of joy. it calms him right down and gets him ready for sleep. you are amazing.
I can't believe I never responded to this! Thank you so much for sharing. Whenever I'm having a down day, I think of this story and it helps me. I hope you and your son are doing well!!
Hello, I just wanted to say that I've spent an hour listening to different versions of La vie en rose, and I just can't stop repeating yours, because I can get all of the emotion of it, and it's really an amazing version. Congrats! Obs:I've never commented anything before, but this song I had to...
+Bia X yo tambien he escuchado casi todas las versiones deLa Vida en Rosa y me parecen estupendas, y tampoco habia echo comentario. La Vie en Rose es magnifica y llena de emociones que se muestran en todas las versiones. Saludos
I am canadian and my grandma was French and she would sing this song to everyday and now I sing it to my girlfriend and family this video was amazing and reminded me of my grandma and your voice is beautiful
Hold me close and hold me fast The magic spell you cast This is la vie en rose When you kiss me heaven sighs And tho I close my eyes I see la vie en rose When you press me to your heart I'm in a world apart A world where roses bloom And when you speak...angels sing from above Everyday words seem...to turn into love songs Give your heart and soul to me And life will always be La vie en rose
The smile just before she starts singing and when she is done singing makes me smile back every time. I just love some smiles, they make you so happy. :)
I first heard this cover when I was in middle school listening off of the UA-cam app off of my Nintendo 3DS. Even though many many covers of this song have been made ever since, I always come back to this one. It takes a lot of scrolling to find this video these days, but it’s always worth it. It always brings me back to those days in 8th grade before I really had any responsibilities and wasn’t so burdened with life. Thank you for the wonderful cover :)
I made a Ukulele Cover playlist for myself and this was the first to put in it. I grabbed my ukulele after one year again and now I try to learn it. I'm not sure if I will be able to sing while playing one day, but at least I know how to play it now :)
Hi, I just have to say that lately, before going to sleep I listen to you while lying on the bed, lights and eyes closed and I can't stop myself from smiling. With this cover I go to sleep in a bed made of peace and love (Thats how I feel). Thank you : )
Wonderful I am from Bangladesh and do not understand a single word of french. But was overwhelmed at every second of the video. I watched it for at least 20 times continuously after the first time. And I'll have to mention those loving looks you gave at us. Those were amazing and so full of love. Thank you for the song
that was the first time that i saw someone singing this song in a ukulele version and: i loved so much! you're a very good singer, and i'm in love for your version of la vie en rose!
muchas gracias nunca antes una canción así me había producido sentimientos de felicidad, esperanza, amor y ahora tristeza y melancolía, gracias por esta maravillosa interpretación
Caitlin, your version of La vie en rose is just beautiful. My wife and I looked at each other and said aout loud "It kicks the HIMYM version's ass in every way". Thank you for this, it made my day.
I probably listen to your rendition of La Vie en Rose every other week. It's mainly because your voice and your coustics makes this song sounds so pure.
I heard it from the other room across the room cuz my cousin and her sister were singing and I fell in love with it and looked it up and played it 200 times 😂 then I was in bed watching how I met your mother and it came on 👍
I'm just learning the ukulele and realized from your video that no matter how well I learn to play, I will never be able to sing so beautifully. Your voice is lovely and I adore the vintage style.
I just love it! You're amazing and your french is adorable. One thing though.... *you've never seen How I Met Your Mother?* (One of the biggest fans over here!) I highly recommend you to watch every single episode of How I met Your Mother.
Oh girl, La Vie En Rose is my favourite song ever, I was trying to get the guitar tabs then came across this video. You're amazing! And now I want to buy an ukulele! hahaha xx
I would love to see you play "Moon River" from "Breakfast at Tiffany's" Some people don't realize the connection between this song/scene from "How I met your Mother" and the final scene in the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's" with Audrey Hepburn. But it is closely related and the songs are very similar in nature.
The nostalgia of UA-cam recommending your video after 10 years. Brings back many great memories. Thank you for this amazing video! Edit: I just noticed that I have the same ukulele as you. 😱
You are so lucky to have an attractive singing face. Whenever I sing, my nostrils flare and I look kind of funny haha. Beautiful smile too! *thumbs up* great job!
That was so beautiful. Merci Beaucoup. Quand vous avez chanté en Français il a fait mon cœur fondre. (for those who cannot speak French I said that when she sang in French it made my heart melt). Comment savez-vous que Français? Avez-vous appris à l'école?
Quand vous avez chanté en français vous avez fait fondre mon coeur !! Comment avez-vous appris le français ? for the rest your french really does look made by a translator x) !!
had my heart broken recently, and I've been keeping busy and overeating at night to keep myself from feeling it. Of hope. Covered with a tarp in the harbor I sometimes forget it's even there, docked and hidden away. ..... but when I hear a love song like this, it hurts. Sometimes unrealistically, unlogically, I will actually believe for a moment: "I will never have the life I always wanted, the life in rose" But then I realize it's my heart that hurts. The melodies and words form winds that whisper and tug gently at the edges of the tarp covering the remains of my wrecked and timid ship. My heart. The most important part of my sensory experience. The beacon that searches out in the night for the most important person I will ever love, I will someday share my life with, a wife. When your heart (metaphorically) beats and you feel the emotion, projected onto your chest if you're in love with someone, if it's beating for someone if you're feeling the emotion of love, not in your head, not in your intentions, not in your mind, not in your imagination, but projected onto your chest, then it is the most wonderful and most meaningful experience that I know of that a human being can possibly have. But when your heart (metaphorically) beats and you feel the emotion, projected onto your chest if you're not in love with someone, if your heart has been borken by someone if you feel heartache, projected onto your chest it's not the worst sensation. it's not the most painful sensation. it's even bitter-sweet, from the memories of the love that lead to that moment of the beautiful seas and dolphins, mermaids and coral waves before the storm broke the smooth seas and crashed your ship to pieces and broke your heart. It's not the worst sensation. But, perhaps selfishly, it is the most deeply sad. So sad, that sometimes we eat our feelings and ignore our heart and fail to process our emotions post-heart/break and don't piece our boat back together. and don't look forwarard to the next venture. and don't believe we will ever have the life of rose. and we neglect our heart and leave the shipwreck under a tarp forgotten, broken but safe. It's in these moments where you hear a song like this and your heart beats for the first time in an eternity and at first it's painful. I tried to think of a metaphor for it, but can't. At first it's painful, and your first reaction may be "I don't like this, I don't want to feel this" but if you stick through it, and process the grief and let your heart beat through the heart ache it's secretly rallying for you! it's secretly rooting for you!! it's secretly repairing for you a beautiful new ship beneath that tarp. When you're moved by a song like this and your heart has been broken and you've maybe given up hope of finding your Happyily Ever After and the song becomes a wind and the waves lap at your heart after your emotional heart pumps out the toxins of your last ship wreck your ship may need more time to heal you may need sturdier materials you may need a better understanding of reading the waves you may need to head towards a different continent this time But when a song like this tugs at your heart strings ... it's only painful because it reminds you you still have a heart. Falling in love is never scary. Falling out of love, or not being loved is scary. But each time, each new person, each time we learn a little more about the world, about ourselves, about the person we've been searching for all along but never really knew it.... every venture is a new day, a new possibility, a new adventure To anyone that ever reads this, hearts can never break permanently. But depending on the torment or tragedy or neglect they can require a lot of TLC to repair and rebuild. But they can always repair and rebuild. You just need to be patient and nurturing to yourself and to your heart. To anyone who ever reads this: have a fantastic day, appreciate the little things have a fantastic life appreciate everything beautiful appreciate every moment and never give up on finding True Love. I have the best wishes for you. I know it will happen. You can do it! Just follow the winds of your heart (because somewhere, someone is following the winds across the ocean searching for someone just like you too!!!)
Besides the Melissa Manchester video-version of this song and the Edit Piaf original, and the Ukele Underground version. this one is one of my favorite UA-cam renditions because Caitlin sings in sweet and melancholy for the beginning English verses, the rocks it up just a bit for the French verses, which is quite lovely and Caitlin has such a lovely smile too!
I'm in love with you. I play your song for my son every night before bed. he's a 3yr old autistic spectrum ball of joy. it calms him right down and gets him ready for sleep. you are amazing.
+Roger D. Awesome man. Music is a universal language no matter who hears it. Glad you shared that.
That's heartwarming

Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose
When you kiss me heaven sighs
And tho I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose
When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak...angels sing from above
Everyday words seem...to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose

Ich liebe diese Frau! Beste Cover Version die existiert!
that was the first time that i saw someone singing this song in a ukulele version and: i loved so much! you're a very good singer, and i'm in love for your version of la vie en rose!
And therefore, you don't watch 'How I met your mother'.
vodKa899 This video was upload before that episode of HIMYM.
Really? So the series copied the idea.
vodKa899 No I'm saying that people will have seen this video before they saw the episode. I myself only saw the episode a week ago.
I found this video a few years ago and I always come back to it. It makes me feel some kind of way I can’t describe.
Thank you for listening!
muchas gracias nunca antes una canción así me había producido sentimientos de felicidad, esperanza, amor y ahora tristeza y melancolía, gracias por esta maravillosa interpretación

Still to this day the most beautiful version of this song I have heard
Brilliant voice!
I probably listen to your rendition of La Vie en Rose every other week. It's mainly because your voice and your coustics makes this song sounds so pure.

Thank you Vanesa!
I'm just learning the ukulele and realized from your video that no matter how well I learn to play, I will never be able to sing so beautifully. Your voice is lovely and I adore the vintage style.
I just love it! You're amazing and your french is adorable.
One thing though.... *you've never seen How I Met Your Mother?*

This is probably the sweetest La Vie En Rose cover that I've heard so far!~
Nice!~
I would love to see you play "Moon River" from "Breakfast at Tiffany's" Some people don't realize the connection between this song/scene from "How I met your Mother" and the final scene in the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's" with Audrey Hepburn. But it is closely related and the songs are very similar in nature.
Eric Hess I love breakfast at Tiffany's
My heart just melted on this one...
This is the first time i ever felt the French language was "romantic" like everybody says.... 😍
*thumbs up* great job!
my god. i wasn't expecting the french. your voice is mesmerizing.
That was so beautiful. Merci Beaucoup. Quand vous avez chanté en Français il a fait mon cœur fondre.
(for those who cannot speak French I said that when she sang in French it made my heart melt).
Comment savez-vous que Français? Avez-vous appris à l'école?
You used a translator such as Google, didn't you? Your French doesn't sound very French haha, sorry.
Clémence Rolland Whatever! The comment was from the heart and not for YOU.
Kay Myers
No need to be rude, I was just correcting you.
Quand vous avez chanté en français vous avez fait fondre mon coeur !!
Comment avez-vous appris le français ?

Onyeka Obilo She is good, but Dean Martin owns this song!
Absolutely lovely. I would love to dance to this song at my wedding (someday) and this is one of my favorite versions!
It reminded me of How I met your mother 😢
When Tracy sang it on the show it was sooo pretty and very emotional to me, haha. I just imagine an end were Ted and Tracy are happily living together
Nova Gardner it's actually the official alternative ending, when they end up happy together. You can search it on UA-cam if you want.
Alexandra Commarmond it actually was in the show, in s09e16. And I have seen the official alternative.
Same :'(
Omg same
This is the best rendition of La Vie en Rose around. You've got a beautiful voice.

I found this cover YEARS ago and I still listen to it. After Louis Armstrong's, this is my favorite cover of this song. You're amazing!!
Gaby! Thank you so much!
You have a stunning voice. Absolutely beautiful.
Most beautiful thing I've heard in a long time
Can't help but smile after watching this , thank you
It's no secret why this video has almost 1.5 million views. Beautiful. 😙 Pure and simple.
had my heart broken recently,
and I've been keeping busy
and overeating at night
to keep myself from feeling it.
I decided to stop eating my feelings last night
and mulled a bit, which is healthy to process
so that you can deal with it and learn from it
and heal and move on.
I've been watching HIMYM for the second time.
And I forgot what this episode was like, and how
moving it was. And is.
I cried for the first time since having my heart suddenly broken (again).
I really needed it, but had been unable to.
Maybe I was just tired of feeling tired and sad hah.
So I procrastinated grieving.
But anyway, I was wanting to rewatch that clip again on youtube,
when I found this version, and this is an absolutely fantastic rendition.
There's something strange about how beautiful love songs
feel ... when you're feeling heart broken.
I've been trying to place exactly what it is ... and I think I just realized why.
When you're in a relationship,
you don't have to fall in love.
I don't think you can choose to fall in love.
But.
I think you can choose to hold your heart
to prevent yourself from falling in love.
I think when we've had a lot of trouble finding love,
(or a lot of trouble being loved in return by those we love)
it's tempting to stop letting our heart venture out
on expeditions across these great Oceans of Social Gatherings
searching for the gold of love in some marvelous New World,
a New Person, a New Love
I think when you dispair over love ....
you lose hope
and
you stop letting your heart hope
and
you stop falling in love.
You'll get a flicker of a moment where you think
maybe I can trust this person
maybe I can fall in love with this person
maybe it will work this time.
And in this moment.... I think you have exactly two options:
(1) let go and let your heart boat sail, hoping for steady seas
or (2) pull down the sails, tie the boat down in the harbor, and stay on shore where it is safe.
Some boats will sink.
Due to luck or inexperienced sailor hearts
maybe many boats will sink.
*But there's always a chance.*
If you leave your boat in the harbor
tie-ing down your heart, shackling it where it's safe
it won't sink,
you won't suffer heart break ...
but without that venture
you'll never make it to the new world.
There is zero chance in the harbor.
You venture nothing and gain nothing.
The safe, but normal, rose-less tinted life.
I think .... what I just realized is this:
When my heart has sunk too many times
on too many seas that were smooth at first
but then became unpredictably stormy
due to bad luck, bad manners,
or maybe just the cruel musings of Poseidon,
... it loses its tenacity, it's drive,
.......my sense of adventure. Of hope.
Covered with a tarp in the harbor
I sometimes forget it's even there,
docked and hidden away.
..... but when I hear a love song like this,
it hurts.
Sometimes unrealistically, unlogically, I will actually believe for a moment:
"I will never have the life I always wanted, the life in rose"
But then I realize
it's my heart that hurts.
The melodies and words form winds
that whisper and tug gently at the edges of the tarp
covering the remains of my wrecked and timid ship.
My heart.
The most important part of my sensory experience.
The beacon that searches out in the night
for the most important person
I will ever love, I will someday share my life with, a wife.
When your heart (metaphorically) beats
and you feel the emotion, projected onto your chest
if you're in love with someone,
if it's beating for someone
if you're feeling the emotion of love,
not in your head, not in your intentions,
not in your mind, not in your imagination,
but projected onto your chest,
then it is the most wonderful
and most meaningful experience
that I know of that a human being can possibly have.
But
when your heart (metaphorically) beats
and you feel the emotion, projected onto your chest
if you're not in love with someone,
if your heart has been borken by someone
if you feel heartache, projected onto your chest
it's not the worst sensation.
it's not the most painful sensation.
it's even bitter-sweet, from the memories of the love that lead to that moment
of the beautiful seas and dolphins, mermaids and coral waves
before the storm broke the smooth seas
and crashed your ship to pieces
and broke your heart.
It's not the worst sensation.
But, perhaps selfishly,
it is the most deeply sad.
So sad, that sometimes
we eat our feelings
and ignore our heart
and fail to process our emotions
post-heart/break
and don't piece our boat back together.
and don't look forwarard to the next venture.
and don't believe we will ever have the life of rose.
and we neglect our heart
and leave the shipwreck under a tarp
forgotten, broken but safe.
It's in these moments
where you hear a song like this
and your heart beats
for the first time in an eternity
and at first it's painful.
I tried to think of a metaphor for it,
but can't.
At first it's painful,
and your first reaction may be
"I don't like this, I don't want to feel this"
but if you stick through it,
and process the grief
and let your heart beat through the heart ache
it's secretly rallying for you!
it's secretly rooting for you!!
it's secretly repairing for you
a beautiful new ship beneath that tarp.
When you're moved by a song like this
and your heart has been broken
and you've maybe given up hope of finding your Happyily Ever After
and the song becomes a wind
and the waves lap at your heart
after your emotional heart
pumps out the toxins of your last ship wreck
your ship may need more time to heal
you may need sturdier materials
you may need a better understanding of reading the waves
you may need to head towards a different continent this time
But when a song like this tugs at your heart strings ...
it's only painful because it reminds you you still have a heart.
Falling in love is never scary.
Falling out of love, or not being loved is scary.
But each time, each new person, each time we learn a little more about the world, about ourselves, about the person we've been searching for all along but never really knew it....
every venture is a new day, a new possibility, a new adventure
To anyone that ever reads this,
hearts can never break permanently.
But depending on the torment or tragedy or neglect
they can require a lot of TLC to repair and rebuild.
But they can always repair and rebuild.
You just need to be patient and nurturing to yourself and to your heart.
To anyone who ever reads this:
have a fantastic day,
appreciate the little things
have a fantastic life
appreciate everything beautiful
appreciate every moment
and never give up on finding True Love.
I have the best wishes for you.
I know it will happen.
You can do it!
Just follow the winds of your heart
(because somewhere, someone
is following the winds across the ocean
searching for someone just like you too!!!)
This reminds me of someone I miss very much. It was one of our songs. Thank you for doing such an incredible job - absolutely beautiful.

I just finished watching this episode! You are awesome!
you truly have a gift. This is by far my favourite cover that I've heard of this song, great job!!
This is my new favorite song. Beautifull work! :)
