I can remember having a 4 lane Firecracker 500 set with custom picked old stock Aurora tracks with the top clips, and the orange controllers with the brakes in 1975. The following year in 1976, the G Plus was released, and we were really amazed at how much faster they were.
nice layout, nice guy! thanks for your enthusiasm Troy. It''s nice to see this great hobby still out there and from as near as I can tell, still growing! Keep up the good work!
Great vid and info. The g plus chassis give me a lot of grief haha. I know they have to be tweaked but they seem to be very intricate and temperamental at least on my track
I wonder if the super g+ had a larger 26 tooth drive gear. The g plus had a 20 tooth. Afx screechers had the 26 tooth in a g+ chassis. Wondered if afx used the 26s in the super g+ later on.
I have never seen that orange magnet Super G Plus or the chassis with the pull out back axle. The first ones I saw with the pull out back axle were the super magna traction.
My AFX Mega G PLUS cars run WAAAAY too fast. They go from nothing to a million miles an hour and are hard to keep on the track.!!! The Mega G (non-plus cars) are much easier to control. What can I do to slow these PLUS cars down.???
Sorry I keep forgetting to tell you stuff... If you look at the G+ motors they are different from Super mags and Speed shifters. early Amrac and cars have the same armature.... Thats the best combo..Given stock parts... The old Speed Shifter with a G+ crown gear is Still the fastest HO set up pure stock... Good luck.
foam tires are NOT things of the past!! Our club uses "Silisponge" tires in the top division. Silicone and Urethane ARE GREAT. Silisponge are king. Try it you might like it; likely learn to love it.
sir can you please tell me that multimeter do i use to check the ohms on my ho slot car armatures . i have 3 ohm meters and just can't get it right ....john
Grew up on tjets and magnatraction..Never really liked g+ when they came out..Yes they where much faster..But the full gripping of the track was not realisic, plus they wore out too fast and started running like shit..For true realistic racing, the magnatraction with rear foam tires was the best..You had to actually drive the car..

AFX Slot Pin too long for Tyco Track.
What is the proper procedure to shorten the pin so it doesn't bottom out on Tyco Track.???
Even my 2 baby princess grand daughter's go crazy when I bring over the slots!

Put ohm meter on 20
Is that your controller that's squeaking like that? Are you constantly pumping your trigger?
+BigRalphSmith yes it's on older controller and has a metal trigger I need to oil it again lol
I have thee super g plus and they all have split motor pinion. Seems like maybe was a problem with them.
+mike a it happens as they get older but can still get them at hoslotcarracing.com
witch slot cars stay on loops the best
I seen videos of cars staying on loops with long straights
Anyone that has strong traction magnets
I think that is a Ferrari not Renault?
Hate to say but, to many sharp turns
One uploads to UA-cam.

Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge! Do all Gplus cars still have the 3 way timing switches on the motors?
