Having served on the school board for a larger urban school district which suffered though a firestorm over allowing choice among high-schools, I want to disabuse listeners of the notice that parents have choice among district high schools. That is generally not true.
What you are doing is taking funding from one school district and giving it to another to educate that child. The transfer school has a higher cost. Who pays for that? The parents. You've now gone from 30 kids per teacher to 40. Who pays for that? The students. The lower performing district now just lost a bunch of students and along with them, their funding. If you want your kid to go to a certain school, move to that district. If there is a problem with the quality of education, work on fixing it. If you want your kid to go to a private school, it's the same as if you drive your kid to school (car pool) vs. riding the bus. It comes out of your pocket.
@ so students that are in municipalities with lower performing schools need to be forced into a lesser education while the school “works” on their performance? If the money is tied to the student, academic performance will go up and successful school districts will continue to expand creating more opportunities for even more students.
@@stewiesaidthat Failing schools should lose funding because they are failing. Part of the reason the public school system sucks is there is no accountability. Chicago and DC have some of the most per student funding and are still some of the worst performing schools in the country. As for the class size changes, if school choice is available to everyone, every student and family has just as much right and opportunity to change schools as any other student. If class sizes are too big in the poorly performing district, letting some kids choose go to another would decrease that class size, which is a good thing. "if you want your kid to go to a certain school, move to that district." What a wildly out of touch statement. You're basically still saying poor kids and poor parents shouldn't have a choice. The only people that have that kind of ability to just move to another district are the wealthy, and they already don't have that issue because they don't typically live in districts with failing schools or they're already sending their kids to private school. "If there is a problem with the quality of education, work on fixing it." How exactly? Teachers unions make it nearly impossible to fire bad teachers, and gives little incentive for good teachers to be good teachers. And why is that the parent's responsibility and not the school's? Schools having to compete for students and funding increases their incentive to actually improve. "If you want your kid to go to a private school, it's the same as if you drive your kid to school (car pool) vs. riding the bus. It comes out of your pocket." That's already happening, the difference is, for those without vouchers, they're paying twice; taxed to fund the public school they don't use, and paying the private school. The vouchers also give poorer parents and students the resources to attend a private school they otherwise would not have.
@@stewiesaidthat "If you want your kid to go to a certain school, move to that district. If there is a problem with the quality of education, work on fixing it. " imagine bold face telling this to low income parents when they complain about their school districts lolololol.

That's what I caught, too. Sunny means the majority taxpayers are getting refunded money that they spend on educating their children how they want? Let me get the world's smallest violin for the uncompetitive schools.
Real funny, vote for welfare but then become a defensive bulldog when it comes to schools? It also means the wealthy can gatekeep and send their own kids back to Yale when they themselves went to Yale. Unless of course, Yale types can send their kids to private schools. But then it just means top unis slightly less than Yale just get more of the same alumni children than fresh talent from the lower classes. People sound like they joined the House of Lords or something.
Anyone notice that right after they announced they need more "pro-trump" voices that now Alyssa is actually pushing back? It's almost like she doesn't want to lose her spot to someone with a spin. That’s not true Alyssa has been pushing back for a while now. I mean literally the day after the election, Alyssa states the various issues with the Democratic Party…this was met with much dismay from her other 3 co host
So Nail obviously does not know the school system beyond large cities with multiple schools. Vouchers are 100% needed and will increase the quality of education for everyone.
It's proof that it's a useless degree when teachers used to just go to teachers college and students were on par internationally. I know plenty of people with masters degrees in education. It's a grift to require a masters degree to teach or get promoted as a teacher. That degree in no way makes them better teachers.
Lowest paying? They're not underpaid. They're paid more than ppl with similar jobs. And they get far more vacation time. Many use that time to work and make more. They also get great benefits.
Here in New Brunswick, most public schools have a catchment zone such that students living in the zone are expected to go to that school or get permission from the district to go to a school outside their zone. If parents choose to request permission to send their children to a school outside their zone, they are expected to look after transportation themselves.
This is fascinating. I think something that gets overlooked in all of this is how many parents wouldn't even change schools for the kids if they had a choice. The quality of a school begins in the home.
When my kids were young, we were already trying to get the school voucher thing approved. We wanted our kids to go to our Christian school. It was a good school! I also at one point homeschooled my daughter. I feel like I should've had the option of the voucher to pay for the curriculum or use it to go to the private school! Why should we have had to pay taxes for school and private or home school curriculum both? We should be able to choose where we want our kids!
I live in the suburban areas around Orlando and we have magnate schools. There are various middle and highschools that have career focused programs. My daughter applied and was accepted to the engineering program in middle school and now she's continued it into highschool. There's nursing, trade, hospitality, technology based and quite a few. This is the smart way to educate our children and we should put a focus on educating our children to prepare them for adult life and not classes to have classes. This gives a leg up to the kids that don't have a financial head start in life and opens up a whole world of career choices they may never have known about.
Every place I've lived, I or my kids had to go to the school in the district where we lived. From L.A. to Bozeman, MT. L.A. now has charter schools but they are not available as options to most people.
When Sunny talks, she wants everyone to listen to her and not interrupt, but when others talk she always interrupts. There has got to be something going on for them to keep some of these women (Whoopi, Sunny and Joy) and let them spread hate.

In Portland, Or, there were multiple elementary, middle, and high schools in the district. You were expected to go to the schools closest to you, unless you could prove there was some reason why it would be better to go somewhere else.
Okay, my city has a voucher system. Like, the ENTIRE Edmonton Public Schools system is voucher-based. If I recall, this started in the 1970s. How it works? The public funding follows the student. That's basically it. The school in your catchment area HAS to take your child, but YOU don't have to send your child to that school. You can send them to any other school in the city that has room. Kids are bused by EPS if their catchment elementary school is too far away for them to walk. If your kids don't attend their catchment school, it's your responsibility to get them to and from. And when they hit grade 7, no more EPS busing. You either drive them, they walk, or they take public transit. This has led to some schools specializing in elective programs like music, theater, International Baccalaureate, sports, vocational/trades programs, AP programs, foreign languages, etc. My kids didn't have any specialized interests, so they all attended their catchment schools. Even though we've lived in not so great neighborhoods, their schools were solid, like all of the city's schools. Because the schools know that if they aren't solid, they'll lose enrolment. The system doesn't cost the taxpayer any more to run than a traditional public school model. I have NO idea why something like this can't be instituted in cities or even states across the US.
I actually hate having to have a bachelors to teach. I love American history and have read hundreds of books relating to it, watch videos, go to museums. I'm current getting my bachelor's, but I already know so much I could teach it at high school level for sure.
We have 5 high schools, 9 middle schools and 17 elementary schools in our district. You are zoned to a particular school, usually which is closet. You can apply for a transfer to a different school within the district, but it's not guaranteed, and you would have to provide your own transportation.
Why does there have to be "Vouchers" ? In Arizona, you can pick any school you can get your child to ! You may have to provide the transportation, but you CAN pick!! Public, Charter, and the state will send your child's education $$$ to a Private School if you choose, some Private schools will accept the State funds as FULL TUITION!! Put that in Your Pipe and Smoke It!
The school gets a certain amount of money for each child. If a child is taken out with that money going to the child it doesn't hurt the school at all. To imply it does implies that the money is being spent for something else.
I don't hear either of you addressing the assumption that rich parents can pick a good education for their kids, but for poor parents, we have to set standards.
It's not even a uniform policy across the country. In my state, my brother and I were able to go to a high school on the other side of town in the 90s. There were a bunch of us went to that school... we even had transportation. All we had to do was fill out a form. And that's not just for high school. This was in CT.
Where I was in HS, there were multiple high schools in the district. The district was divided up and you went to the one closest to you. You didn't get to choose.

imagine bold face telling this to low income parents when they complain about their school districts lolololol.
@@Quitchangingmy Seriously. This is like when Bri said about the convenience store owner who hired armed security to protect his business and patrons against violent criminals: "Instead of hiring security, we should have a robust conversation about how to end poverty." ...what a world these people live in - in their minds.
Filibustering, interrupting, and outright rudeness is Sunny's MO.
Yep! Condescension is the only tone she knows, too.
Family Guy nailed The View ages ago.
Wow... I didn't think it was even possible to be that drunk.
In NJ growing up, we couldn't go to a different high school in the same district. There were zones inside the district that assigned your k to 12 schools.
Who would have thought savoring Post-Election infighting would have been on my 2024 bingo card.
The new cohost is a huge improvement , he is still left & I disagree often , however his delivery comes across much more sincere & more reasonable , so it makes a conversation . Which we need a lot more of .. vs the last lefty woman who just pushed one lie after another mixed with huge exaggeration, and or things dramatically out of context. Vs this guy who argues counter facts throw the left lense yet still reasonable . Good job
No means testing. Wealthy people are paying MORE to fund public schools, why remove them from get school vouchers ??
That's what I caught, too. Sunny means the majority taxpayers are getting refunded money that they spend on educating their children how they want? Let me get the world's smallest violin for the uncompetitive schools.
@@hebozhe voting to choose where your tax dollars go is now a refund? lol ok....
@@Quitchangingmy Sure, since you're getting a portion paid back. It's no different functionally from a mail-in rebate.
So now she's finding hers.
After such a long time of being spineless. Allowing Sunny to spew unchecked garbage with impunity.
You can hear the smugness from Sunny.
Alyssa has been sitting in it without saying a word for so long, I almost forgot she was ever there.
I was just commenting on another thread about Alyssa "stepping up".
That’s not true Alyssa has been pushing back for a while now. I mean literally the day after the election, Alyssa states the various issues with the Democratic Party…this was met with much dismay from her other 3 co host
@CloroxBleach-nu8vo what's your definition of "for a while now."
Cause the election ended 2 weeks ago bro.
Let's be real here.
I love Robby and Niall together.
More of Niall please
In Ireland the teachers in private schools get paid by the government same as public schools.
So Nail obviously does not know the school system beyond large cities with multiple schools. Vouchers are 100% needed and will increase the quality of education for everyone.
I am SO glad Rising covered this critically important event!
Looks like they bout to get sold 😅
A masters degree for the lowest paying job?
It's because if you do 10 years of teaching you can get your student loans paid off completely
That’s what they require
It's proof that it's a useless degree when teachers used to just go to teachers college and students were on par internationally.
I know plenty of people with masters degrees in education. It's a grift to require a masters degree to teach or get promoted as a teacher. That degree in no way makes them better teachers.
@@Nvrgiveup15 I got that. Thanks
Lowest paying? They're not underpaid. They're paid more than ppl with similar jobs. And they get far more vacation time. Many use that time to work and make more. They also get great benefits.
More Niall with Robby. Great perspectives without screeching!
When these two are on together, this is the best news show on the Internet
Robbie needs to join The View to straighten things out.
In a town in Oklahoma the town passed school choice for elementary. The best school has a waiting list for enrollment and the worst ones don't.
Here in New Brunswick, most public schools have a catchment zone such that students living in the zone are expected to go to that school or get permission from the district to go to a school outside their zone. If parents choose to request permission to send their children to a school outside their zone, they are expected to look after transportation themselves.
Nile is a BADASS.
This is fascinating. I think something that gets overlooked in all of this is how many parents wouldn't even change schools for the kids if they had a choice. The quality of a school begins in the home.
We have 2 high schools in our district, but you can't choose. There are boundary lines that determine the school you can attend.
You go Robby ❤! 😊
"No one can hear anything that anyone is saying" when referencing with The View, makes me struggle to see the problem.
There has got to be something going on for them to keep some of these women (Whoopi, Sunny and Joy) and let them spread hate.
a shock collar would be beneficial
This is horrible. Can you not see the way Alyssa attacked her personally. Or do you care that she flipped on trump jist like that. Didn't she have a big announcement about how she voted for her 1st Democrat and now she's also bowing down to y'alls pumpkin king.
I think what is evident is racism is alive and well online.
If the network is going under they may all be out soon enough. I think most people want that show to stop. It doesn't help liberals and just spews nonsense.
With everybody talking, "Nobody can hear what anybody is saying." I DON'T BELIEVE IT!! She finally said something intelligent!
To my last comment. But it should be Robby centric as a lead anchor as you will. It would provide what people wants
The women on "The View" make us feel like we are "Einstein." If that is their objective , they passed with flying colors.
Love you both!
I like the scottish dude! Good to have newer and fresher perspectives. Welcome to the US!
Credit to Sunny for actually citing stats and facts for once instead of just talking from emotion like she usually does.
I went to Duke Ellington for a year -- DC is different and allows for more choice compared to schools in Maryland counties.
The school gets a certain amount of money for each child. If a child is taken out with that money going to the child it doesn't hurt the school at all. To imply it does implies that the money is being spent for something else.
What a delightful, entertaining show!

SLIPPERY SLOPE💁🏻♀️ I HAVE NO KIDS THEN SO GIVE ME ALL MY MONEY BACK AND I SHOULD NEVER PAY AGAIN ROBBY 💸💸💸💸
I don't hear either of you addressing the assumption that rich parents can pick a good education for their kids, but for poor parents, we have to set standards.
My view after 1 minute is; TV Tabloid .
I like the idea of means testing; with that out of the way, there's a lot less to argue about.
Please keep Niall on the show. He makes it SOOOOO much better.
It's not even a uniform policy across the country. In my state, my brother and I were able to go to a high school on the other side of town in the 90s. There were a bunch of us went to that school... we even had transportation. All we had to do was fill out a form. And that's not just for high school. This was in CT.
thank you niall & robby...😊
Amen!!!
Where I was in HS, there were multiple high schools in the district. The district was divided up and you went to the one closest to you. You didn't get to choose.
Sunny is sick.. evil.
Several mental issues, she lacks any kind of control or reason. She is convinced she is always right and has the moral upper hand to talk down to others. She couldn't produce evidence or examples of 99% of her accusatory babble. I'd be scared she'd go postal if I was around her, very impulsive type anything could set her off.
Sonny is right. There is no significance also charter schools cherry pick with using selective enrollment.
Every state administers the program differently. Massachusetts has a lottery system to get into charter school., parents, love it.
1:56 robbie having ptsd flashbacks of a screeching banshee with oversized glasses lol
So day care providers making $15-17 pr hour need to go into education certification debt? I could see in a center the top management should have some educational background to guide the staff. Yet most providers are independent people who have already done some state requirements to get licensed.
Not only couldn't Robbie teach kids, they'd destroy him. Imagine Robbie a substitute teacher also.
10:00 Haha! It's good to see Niall smile. :D I love how Robby says it's been delightful, and Niall smiling. Anyhow. Niall's the bomb.
Way to stand your ground Alisa
