American gold eagles are 22k gold and not 24k though they still contain an oz of gold (you probably already know that and just accidentally said 24k in the video but I wasn’t sure)

How are you my friend , i can't believe you never spoke about the $50 Gold Buffalo, they are the most beautiful gold coin on the market. I got my first one 2023 w proof 70, its awesome can't wait until i get my second one. And a $10,000 safe to lock it down lol.

The Krugerrand is actually 0.917 gold. US gold eagle is 0.9167. My guess is to harden the gold as it is not durable. I have dropped a 24k gold ring before and it deformed badly. Yes there are 24k gold jewelry out there. The most common is called "Chinese Gold".

As a biased American, all of our constitutional gold (pre 33) is gorgeous!!! The only other gold coin that comes even close in beauty is a Sovereign... I mean it has a Dragon getting slayed on it!

Lol you are right indeed. I love the Sov's design, but I hate that you can't tell whether it's 1 or 1/2 Sov without physically holding it

Hi Max. Great video! Thanks for sharing. I believe you misspoke about the American Gold Eagle though. It is not .999 or 24K gold. Per the US Mint website "Composition is 91.67% gold, 3% silver, balance copper." The "American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coins are one ounce of .9999 fine 24-karat gold," on the other hand. You didn't mention Buffalos. I would be interested to know your take on those.

    • @Silverpicker

You are 100% right. I totally misspoke on that. I also should have included the gold buffalo. Would definitely be A tier (maybe even S tier if I think about it)

I also think it would be cool if you did a video specifically on your favorite - Pre-33 gold. I know you have shared your collection of those before, as well as your experience getting them graded. I would be interested in a video discussing where to get these, whether to buy them/get them graded or not, cleaned or not, different designs, etc. Keep up the good work!

You are also right about gold nuggets. They appeal to collectors. There are gold collectors out there that also collect gold crystals in matrix. They are also very picky with information. They must have location, not just country but up to the river or mine it was collected.

the best way to learn which is the best us by selling it back or chatting with a store owner..most people who collect are oblivious to what happens when they sell back...i disagree on sone..the eagle is valued highly by dealers..theres the collector and theres the stacker..

Best gold is the one you get under spot, period😉 Picked up a 0,167oz 23K commemorative round today for 7% under spot, hard to beat! Where i’m at gold is gold and the dealers pay per purity and not the picture on the gold.

  • @RandomlyGeneratedUsername
    @RandomlyGeneratedUsername 2 місяці тому

Old Islamic gold coins often go for around spot at auctions, including fees, and sometimes even a hair under. This goes even for some of the earliest Islamic gold. This is because the numismatic collector base for these coins is so small. Back in 2018-2019 I also saw much of the common Byzantine gold going for spot, and poor condition pieces going under spot. However, the Byzantine stuff has gone up in price. This was good for me since I doubled my money on many pieces after holding them just a year or two when I decided to shift away from collecting them.
Still, common Byzantine gold coins and Islamic gold coins are good candidates if you want to stack some old gold. Unfortunately for us collectors going older than this you see the prices spike quite rapidly.

You need your research the gold purity of both the American Eagle and Krug. Both are 22k not 999.9 24k. They contain a full oz of gold but added silver and copper for rigidity. You lost me at Gold Backs.

I don't see Krugerrands ever being ranked above AGEs. They are both 22K but the eagle has silver and copper to round it out instead of just copper. Sure you can get the krug for less, but do you really want the association with Apartheid?

The best way of dealing with Goldbacks is to buy them wholesale direct from Alpine and have them vault them.
There are several advantages to this
    1) No vault fees for Goldbacks
    2) You can lease your Goldbacks and gain interest. I think there is a minimum But I don't recall, it's not a lot though.
    3) You can sell back to Alpine for no fee at current wholesale price.
That's a better deal than trying to sell Goldbacks on the market to a dealer who will only give you melt value.
So current melt value of a 1GB note as of 2/29 is $2.06 in gold
But selling it back to Alpine will get you $3.99
