Lovely looking aircraft and seems quite capable. if you had produced this video with no music and instead with the sound of engine etc, you would done perfect. Still well done for your effort and I hope the project succeed.
Great Video!!, Loads of different video. Hope everyone can see they are real!! I hear they will be having 4 more flying by next summer!! That is awesome. Sound needs to be louder on this video though. This video sure has alot of information. That pusher prop version is just crazy!!
Am I the only one who notices the pilots having to dip their head in order to see straight out front? It appears that the joint between the canopy and the windscreen is right in the light of sight of the pilot when they are sitting straight up and looking forward. Would annoy the living hell out of me if that were the case.
I agree. Taste in music is a very individual thing. Aircraft sounds, however are what we want, and there is no variation. Either you like them or you don't.
I applied for the air force when I finished high school and found out I was red / Green colour blind. Broke my heart that what I wanted to do from the time I was 6 years old was not possible. I have my civilian pilots licence now and if I had the money hell yes i would buy one.
While a L29 or L39 might be cheaper they come with severe operating restrictions to which all jet warbirds are subjected. An amateur built kitplane is subjected to only slightly less restrictions than a factory built aircraft.
I've spent my entire career as a gas turbine troubleshooter and repair specialist . I want to hear the engine talk to me. 43 years and I still love hearing when the turbine takes over. forget music .
I wish they come up with MrkIII with eliminating that obstruction in front of pilot at the canopy joint and the landing gear retracts and extends like f-16, which is typical, and resembled partly in piaggio avanti. but over-ally a spectacular idea.
If i may, have a few questions: 1. Which a/c is being promoted as a Military Trainer ? Viper Jet Mk II or the Fan Jet. Or both. 2. Any provision for Ballistic Parachute and Hard Points ? 3. If a foreign Air Force is interested in the a/c, are you guys willing to build a number of examples in your facilities, a number of units in the facilities of the customer (a national air force), and issue a production license from unit number XX on ? Thanks, Peter Watson
Was not even a Kit. It is a hand built carbon fiber .5-1 million dollar aircraft. They pretty much failed at the intended purpose even though they made a cool jet
I recognize the man at :45 as a former executive with the company I work for. Good to see you're still flying! Don't know if it's appropriate to say his name or not, so I won't. But this man flew the F-105s in Vietnam. Super nice guy.
The Bee-Dee-Ten used a twin tail rudder. It looked like a tiny F-18. It ended in a crash, and took the life of Jim Bede, the designer. The BD-5 is still popular, but like any jet it is considered extremely dangerous. In 1994, thirteen were constructed and registered. Of these BD-5, eleven ended their existence in a crash. Of these, nine resulted in fatalities.
Jet warbirds are registered as "Experimental Exhibition" aircraft and subject to many restrictions. You are only allowed to fly them to and from a designated practice area and to and from aviation events where you intend to exhibit the aircraft. Kit planes are registered as Experimantal- Amateur Built (E-AB) and once the initial flight test period is flown off (25 or 40 hours) the only restriction they face is that they cannot be used for commercial purposes.
Nice looking jet & I wonder what the range is. The thrust out of two engines is paltry compared to the 1960's F8 Crusaders I once worked on @ 35,000 Lbs! The F8 was so much fun to fire up in afterburner, when the nose of the plane would dip down & you swore to God the chain couldn't hold you from shooting off the deck & into the sea while on aircraft carriers. Oh that as the life!
It's certainly a pretty bird, and ~375 knots (according to wiki) is pretty fast for a homebuilt, but I wish it was faster. Being so clean a design, I'm surprised it isn't faster.
Jeff LaVelle Glasair III is faster than that(404kph on recent Reno), all those NXTs and Thunderer Mustangs are also speed monsters, RadialRocket, Lancairs and Glasairs aren't that mutch slower either...
Well I found a page that states the 375 MPH TAS is max cruise for the Mk II. The same page says the aircraft is capable of 525 MPH TAS @ 28,000. I wonder if it's the Vno or Vne. J-85 should provide sufficient thrust velocity for higher speeds.
516knts @ 15,000 running level at 98% thrust. If you do the math that is mach .808... Wasn't allowed to go as fast as it can because not allowed to go transonic.
Concept is great- but when you promote fighter jet experience with barely lifting off runway performance, what you've built is an Toyota Mr2 for the Ferrari 355 experience. looks great, but out of the box underperformed.
Yeah, totally agree, they should have had a bunch of aliens to shoot down. What do you think you should see? They covered take off, landing, flying low level, high level, loop and rolls. what more is there?
12000 feet per minute and a thrust to weight of over 0.55 at MTOW... That beats quite a few fighters honestly. What they showed here likely is from early flight testing and so it doesn't show the aircraft's full capabilities.
@DogOnAShip I'm pretty in the same case, but I was stopped during the initial military course, in french navy (I'm french), though I had passed the tests...) I also have my civilian licence. I was extremely disappointed too, it was 15 years ago and I sometimes still think about it, sadly. don't worry, one day we both will fly this of aircraft, as a civilian instructor, why not. Life has sometimes good surprises. Aeronautic greetings from France.
Nice video... BUT how fast does it go? How much can it carry? How far can it travel on one fueling? I don't know any more now than I did before I watched this vague and clueless waste-of-time video. Yes, it's a pretty little plane, but if you want to know more than that, don't waste your time watching this video.
All of the Aviation videos are all the same. No statistics, just take my word for it and if your rich give me money. Still the amount of thrust they state to produce is still quite nice as well as some very necessary augmentations that a jet will need.
Looked up the jet in Wikipedia, you could buy L39's from that are already US certified and modified for civilian use in the US that go much faster, better performance, and far cheaper as well as already built.
About as fast a single engine Me 262. If this jet had two engines I think it would be more interesting but I don't think they would have enough room for more gas tanks.
Looks like the canopy joint is directly in line with the pilots forward view. How annoying would that be? You can see the pilot craning his head to see over or under it... ick
No! Well, yes, but those endorsements are quite tricky. You will need a PPL, and additional rating (that means ground training, flight training and more exams) for instruments, you will need the endorsements for the complex and high performance airplanes (but you can get those fairly easily with your PPL) and you will need a type rating for the aircraft you're flying, which agains means training. The PPL is the start, but you also need to get the other ratings / certificates.
Super nice - slick- looking jet, BUT: Isn't that connection of forward canopy and top canopy (black lined area) almost, or right in the pilot's view? Hate to be picky and I realize there is the camera angle, etc., but wouldn't it be nice to "move" that connection farther back, out of the visual (front of the airplane) view? Yes, now there would be an "over head" view that would be a bit "blanked out". Just a thought. Thanks, N-6395T
as a musician (and aerobatic glider pilot) I have to agree... specially THOSE lyrics: ...keep you down... you hit the ground!!!??? for promoting an a i r p l a n e ?? hit the ground?? what if anything were you thinking? nice aircraft though, but maybe time to invest in a couple of go pro's a laptop and a few evenings of making a new video...
Cool concept, but for a true jet fighter experience, you could just get an actual tried and proven military plane, such as an L29 Delfin, or any number of other retired fighters/jet trainers which range in the low to mid-six figures in cost. I don't think a new ViperJet could be any more affordable.
I wonder if there's an option, or an aftermarket kit for a canopy upgrade -- y'know, a canopy that would allow for some, uhh, I dunno, some kind of, y'know, forward vision?? I'm not finding fault, y'understand. Vision at 6 o'clock high is excellent, so no one in a Piper Cub is gonna get the drop on you, no sir.
This is a nice video showing the history and some of the videos I've seen for awhile. I've always been a fan of this and even tried to sneak a visit last time I was in Paso, but had to rush back to Yakima to take care of a sick grandmother. Now I have to go back to lay her to rest...I think I'll need a side trip to cheer me up. Anyway, does this have known ice defenses (electric, engine bleed). How heavy is the rudder ?
Do you have a version you would post where we can hear the star of the show "ViperJet" rather than the lame-azz spielberg wannabe music during taxi and flight? I do thank you for the post and for the creation of this remarkable machine. I now know where to put a chunk of my inheritance when it comes, hopefully not for a while yet, keeping that in mind maybe ViperJet III (eta if any?) will be the way for me to go...j PS yeah, what Odey said !
Okay details. Altitude? Price? Range? Can it sustain flight upside down? Pressurized cockpit? Max speed? Stall speed? Weight? Weight Capacity? Does it come completely chromed? G-forces sustained? Flight suit?
So tell me, why should I buy this kit, spend a ton of hours building it, over just buying a nicely refurbished L-39 and spend the 300Gs I saved flying my L-39?
That is....an incredible looking aircraft. And a 2 seater jet to boot! Amazing!!
Its like owning a fighter jet
@@blu_e1910 id kill just to RIDE in one. I keep it as my dream goal to own one. Incredible looking!
@@The_Mimewar i can relate
This two seater is such a cool plane. I’d love to fly this thing.
I would love to hear the engine during this video (and maybe a little radio chatter) instead of that music. Why do people do that?
bluestudio67 I wanted to hear the engine too ... as soon as the music started I was WTF?!?
+SupaNami sometimes there is no audio or the audio is so bad or monotonous theres nothing else you can do
+CHOPPERGIRL AIRWAR From 2:44 to 3:24 sound is fine ... but I understand what you're saying
+bluestudio67 that's the sounds of the engine, just sounds like music to your ears because you like it so much
+bluestudio67 And why is it crappy, melancholy Numetal? Why wouldn't they at least pick something upbeat and fun sounding for a promotional video?
Why spoil a perfect video with music stopping us listening to the sound of a beautiful jet engine. Please re-upload without the music.....Please.
the jet is extra nice but the audio is extra bad... lol
Can you guys post a video of a takeoff without music. I wanna here the sound of a GE CJ610 screaming.
Aside from the canopy support right in front of your face, looks like a cool idea. Way too expensive to fly, but fun.
there is always the BD5j (or the newer one) or the Sub Sonex?
Forget that music. I WANT TO HEAR THAT ENGINE TURNING UP.
😎 Congratulation! Vip Jet is incredible! Aircraft perfect! 👏🏿

Maybe they are tall. I wouldn't have that problem I'm only 5'8"
This guy was just too tall for that seat. Look where his head is in relation to the head rest.
beaconrider Yeah that's a small jet so no way is a tall guy gonna fit it properly.
light of sight.....hmmmm
Maybe this really is the jet for backseat drivers....

nice plane. But the music and editing wasnt at its best.
How much for the Kit?
dnhug It's over 500,000

I don't mean to insinuate that anything could possible go wrong with one of these aircraft but I have to ask. do they come with ejection seats.
All that glass bubble canopy and a large piece of metal right in front of the pilot eyes.... 😕
Have you ever seen the cockpit of a fighter?

great jet and good vid.In a 4 seater there would be a real market for this.

Try the BD-10 if you want speed. Or you can just make a miniature j-58 engine for this puppy.
Howie Bartlett
The BD-10 despite it's capabilities, had alot of structural issues. And a J-58 engine is really only good for high mach operation.

The plane warming up sounds like my Rainbow when I stick my hand on the hose.
Wow! :-) I have an item to start a bucket list!!!
So basically you figured out the first idea wasn't feasible after all and then you had to double or triple the price and operation cost. Cool 😎
What are you blabbering about? The first jet flew and operated fine. They just wanted to go faster so of course things had to change.
Why dont consider the F5 for support plane?
UA-cam should have an Option of turning the Music off, Howw hard Can it be to add that Feature?
Super nice - slick- looking jet, BUT: Isn't that connection of forward canopy and top canopy (black lined area) almost, or right in the pilot's view? Great but how much does it take to run per hour. Thats always a big killer with jet aircraft
Ok thanks, so really all you need to fly this is a PPL and a couple of endorsements?
Also, are the kits still being produced?
Just out of curiosity, what is the Max G load that the Viper Jet can handle?

Short answer, they don't sell many very quickly.
Is thre available in aluminium? Maybe silly question but have to ask. Thank you
without music please!!
what a beautiful creation!
How many hard points does it have?!
Interesting! Do they make these in Australia if I got my pilots license to fly one of these or do they only make them in America.
if I ever get one of these, I'm painting it blue with the red cobra insignia on the tail from GI JOE.
Can this plane do barrel rolls?
almost reminds me of a t45 goshawk like the navy uses for carrier flight training
Where was the Viper Jet located when it did this?
God damn it I wish I was rich
I would love one of these
There's a subsonex jet that goes for 130k ish and uses a turbine engine at -300lbs of thrust.
What ratings do you have to have to fly this plane?
***** HA! Well yes..
why did the BD-10 seem so much cooler? it didnt even work right but still looked more fun...
Cool concept, but for a true jet fighter experience, you could just get an actual tried and proven military plane, such as an L29 Delfin, or any number of other retired fighters/jet trainers which range in the low to mid-six figures in cost. I don't think a new ViperJet could be any more affordable.
