I have 3 NK guitars with a 4th custom order on the way. While I do love these guitars, they haven't all been perfect. The first one has a few frets that buzz when I try to get really low action and I swapped the pickups out as they just weren't very good for anything other than high gain. The second one has a zero fret that doesn't match the rest of the frets so it kind of defeats the purpose of a zero fret. I also had to shim the neck to get the action lower as the saddles were bottomed out. The 3rd one was a custom order that arrived with the neck slightly misaligned. The neck pocket on this one has a big gap on the bass side. I was able to unbolt and fix the issue and now it plays great. The tuners across all 3 are kind of a mixed bag. Some turn great while others are incredibly stiff. I believe taking them apart and cleaning the threads would fix this issue. On the 1st and 3rd I did have to file the nut to get the action to where I wanted it. Overall I do think these guitars are great value and are for the most part built really well and the electronics cavities are properly shielded. The asymmetrical neck on these guitars is really the biggest selling point for me and I do believe they are carbon reinforced. I think if you are able to work on your own guitars you really can't go wrong. NK isn't a huge manufacturer so don't expect perfection. You definitely get what you pay for. That being said sub $500 for roasted ash, roasted maple, wenge, stainless steel frets, luminous inlays, asymmetrical neck profile, multiscale, and included soft case is a hell of a deal.
ya... you get a lot for your money.... I have heard mixed reviews... Thats why I did the Amazon Order. Just incase there was a problem with the guitar. I love mine and plan on keeping it for the long haul....
I've never tried one but that weird neck profile on the back is a Strandberg patented design called the EndurNeck. I''ve always wanted to try one but the cheapest model Strandberg is like $1300 hundred bucks. Glad to see there's some more affordable options out there.
I looked at a model at Sweetwater that was on sale... It was 2300.00 om sale for 1550.00 dollars. Nice guitar. But it didn't have the scalloped fret board. With this you can install whatever pickup you want.... and still be WAY WAY under the sale price of the Stranberg. With these off-angle pickups.. you have to take apart the stock pickups and use their base plate to install your new pickups to... BUT you do have to take apart your new pickups to do that. Most may not feel confrontable doing that. Splitting up a new set of HUMBERBUCKERS and rewiring them to the old base plate. I have only done it one time doing repairs.. PITA but you can do it.
The profile isn't flat like the patented Endur Neck. It is rounded. It is just asymmetrical. Maybe inspired by the enduring neck, but as someone who's played both it is definitely different. If you haven't tried one of these yet I'd say they're worth it. I'm currently waiting for one I custom ordered, which is the 2nd I'll have bought.
@@MrAustinMusic yeah I guess it wouldn't be just like the EndurNeck since Strandberg has the patent lol. Idk what I was thinking. It just looks like the EndurNeck. Still haven't tried one. Too much for my budget at the moment unfortunately but if I were to ever get one I would definitely want to try one first. Awesome that you've got another one coming. New guitars are always fun. :)
I have 3 NK guitars, the reason is simple, the last three years I bought and sold approximate twenty guitars, all different brands and levels, MIM fenders, Fender American performers, couple of Epiphones, Indonesian G&L, Harley Benton fusions, a Gibson 92 Nighthawk, Yamaha , Washburn etc and not one had better fretwork (maybe I was Lucky) and the neck shape is súper confortable. I made them a finish of oil/wax like the Ernie Ball guitars, I’m very pleased with the results, now the guitars look and feel more premium. Th pickups are good enough for moderate and high gain presets. Those guitars are IMO head and shoulders above of something like Eart, or Amuse like someone (very uninformed ) wanted to compare in comments. Probably I will buy a couple more Very good video
There is a lot of info in the video.... If you're thinking about getting a NK Guitar... This is the video to watch! I try to cover everything about the guitar in the video. Thank You for Commenting ... It really helps the UA-cam AI system push out the video for others...
Did he say spritz? lol… I wonder what EMGs would sound like in that thing. Seems like that would almost call for em. Or maybe Fishmans would be the shizzle with no fizzle. lol… Either way that’s a pretty cool guitar, I’m not a fan of green guitars but I’ve seen those in various color options that are nice. Also something to think about, GFS has various circuit modules that install in the control cavity, I’ve always wanted to try the compressor/sustainer module. That guitar would be perfect for something like that. Happy holidays…
Have you ever had one of those days where you just can't say something.... I said it not once but Twice Back-to-Back ... Spritz.... LOL and I try to speak well so everyone can understand me. I would love EMG's in this.... Only thing you could do are twin EMG SA's due to the angled pickup... I love the EMG 89 ! it is my go to EMG.
Hopefully i can ask to the nk store to give me a guitar with the body angled to the neck, im so used to the height of the strings of a tune o matic bridge, but i still adore the low action
They stopped Amazon for about 2 months... Dunno Why .. But I saw they had listed a bunch of stuff again, even some KITS ! I do like mine... it is my Travel Guitar...and how to press on the frets teacher guitar....
You can message seller. Under their contacts. If it is not under the listing, go to their Amazon store and find their custom order one on the product page. You can ask for just about anything... But if you do that you will be waiting.. that guitar will be made to your specs. Not sure what the time frame would be now for a custom order. BUT >>>> make sure you go through Amazon. They will stand behind the sale if there is a problem. That is the key and why I ordered one.
If you type in NK GUITARS on Amazon one should pop up.... Go to their store front on Amazon. In there they should have a custom model you can pick from and E-mail them what you want.
The upper horn on this guitar did not bother me... The E-art Headless on the other hand did... The horn it my chest in a bad location when Playing setting with the guitar. This one is comfortable... It goes with me on every trip... Along with my Black Star Stearo10 core amp. I did take my Line 6 HX stomp with head phones... but the little Black Star is better to play out and about with when taking trips. This guitar is also teaching me so much about how hard I fret notes.... But .. I do think the pickups are .... well, they are ok sounding. But really want to do an Upgrade on them. That is the weak link in this guitar... The pickups

Im torn over these style guitars. On one hand, im convinced they've been designed with ergonomics in mind and must be comfortable to play, and sound superb. On the other hand, i think they're ugly as sin lol. I'm not much of a heavy metal guy myself tho (unless you count some 80's hair metal as true "metal" or some of the earlier stuff like Sabbath, or even some Metallica. Classics are classics). Rock n roll & the blues is my bag. Not into the headless design either. I've never liked even flying V's or the like. Im a strat guy all the way (tho i like Tele's and LP's also...if theres a Strat available its almost always what I'll choose). But I just like guitars with a bit softer features. I don't really care for extra long or sharp "horns" on strat style guitars either. The fan frets seem interesting. Ive never had one in my hands tho, and I'm not sure how I'd like them as daily drivers. Same with scaloping. I do like a nice big jumbo fret so my finger doesnt touch the board. That or a thin fret so it does...no in between lol😅. Im weird. I dont think id like a scalop board for a daily driver tho. Still love your detailed reviews and showing how you do your luthier work and electronics. Still waiting and hoping to see you talk about and show us how you utilize the rest of your studio equipment brother! 👍 I love all things guitars, but i love all things recording and production almost as much! OK OK ..... Time for a TASCAM DA30 review ! ! ! ! ! I'm old school in the recording department. I had 2 Adat black faces with a Korg M1 ( 8 tracks in that ) I started out with a Porta1 from Tascam ponging tracks ... I think the new guys miss so much with the new DAW's... I get it though.. much easier... No syc-track. Effects are just plug-ins.... No 32-track board you hand control.... I get it.... BUT ... Plugs-ins just don't sound as good as my old school rack effect units. My guitar rig many may say is outdated.... After 30 years with the ART SGX2000 Express and I still find stuff in that unit I didn't know was there... It can really get any sound you want.... You just need to put the time into it to dial it in. I picked up the first run of the Line 6 Pod rack unit .... Didn't keep it but for 4 weeks. Went back to the ART rack Tube preamp-DSP. Modelers just didn't have the feel.... The new stuff is getting better... Looking at an AxeFX rack unit now.... Dunno.... I'm going to have to find something.... The ART is getting old... and starting to have problems. I don't want to look at the hour meter on that thing ....... LOL... I'm sure it is like and old car and ran out of dial numbers to track the time on the unit...... Anyway... Please comment anytime my friend... We need people that love music adding there side. Any pointers for me ?? anything you want to see... I well do a video on my guitar rig one day... Just didn't think anyone would want to see how I have it setup and maybe a DSP unit in the other rack.
@@DominionFretWorks Way cool. I started with Tascam Porta 4 tape. Then used a Fostex 16 digital for about a decade, before I finally broke down and got with the times on a computer once they became powerful enough to not give me fits from all the glitching and crashing lol. Overpriced. Should be $200. And it will be eventually. There are similar ones like the Amuse headless for $169. The cheap Chinese guitar makers are always trying to get $500 for their guitars but I don't think they're having much success.
With everything they did on this guitar..... its a 500.00 guitar even with the wiring problem it had. If they had installed better pickups with the wiring right... 800.00 to 1000.00 easy. The guitar plays great... fretwork and fit and finish is great. Just the pickups.... I think... I will change the caps again and see what happens. If that doesn't work, I will have to custom make some to fit. There is just something off with the pickups.... I take this guitar with me on every trip ! It may not be for everyone but for me this guitar checks a lot of boxes even with the pickups.
They USED to be 200 dollar guitars. Fit, finish and popularity have driven the price to $500 plus. Prices won't go back down to where they were when they first started.
