Friends was filmed in front of a live studio audience and himym made sure that there were no awkward pauses by adding in the laugh track in last, there's a reason you don't see "himym without the laugh track" videos.
Based on the camera angle where the guys got shot, the placement of the archers were very questionable. If any of them had missed, Stewart might have been shot himself.
