- In a state celebrated for its sport fishing, Owen Ballow always found it shameful that fresh-caught trout and salmon from the Great Lakes were limited to appearing as seasonal menu items at local restaurants.
So, the 56-year-old entrepreneur decided to do something about it.
Ballow has made a significant splash in the Michigan aquaculture industry since purchasing a nondescript roadside tourist attraction in Jackson County and transforming the 90-acre site into a large-scale commercial fish farm.
Beer can at 1:20 tells you how chill this job is. Where do I apply at?
While I certainly understand you wanting to point out the quality difference and referencing that you work under so many licenses and permits, it is equally disheartening because this additional regulatory burden/expense is why many US based producers have failed. It is nearly impossible for a US producer to compete with the imports on price due to the increased cost of doing business in the US. For that reason, I hate that you have to obtain/pay for so many licenses and permits.
Love what you are doing and thanks for sharing!
I love it. Thank you for your work!
Google search says PERMANENTLY CLOSED…what’s going on there?

This has been a dream since I was a child. How do you sell to local stores legally, and what are the regulations you had to take to get to selling. Sorry I know nothing, and I seriously want to start a fish farm because the state where I moved... idk what these ppl are eating but its not fish... I do miss Michigan dearly :'[
@@sand9596 I have no idea, I hope the MAN didnt shut it down for some bogus reason. 😥 now a days you cant even grow your own seed with out ppl sniffing up your pant leg. fricken weirdos...

Poison a major lake then take the freshwater fish out of their natural habitat and grow them in tanks with steroids and sell them for a profit !
He mentioned Mackinac island lol I used to live there for a bit.
That’s nice.
How is growth of Trout in control environment? Is it better than natural growth?
At 0:53, those are steal cylinders, cemented in place? Where would someone find those to purchase? Also what is the diameter you have and how many fish can you hold in one?
Never got an answer aye?
the steel cylinders look like grain or feed bin rings. Probably have a plastic on the inside to waterproof them.
What about poisonous phthalates in the pvc piping?
Too small to be worth mentioning

Cheap and lousy marketing to scare the people of the area about other food supplies.
Hardly, do your research.
