You bring a really good point of Nova being a helper more than solo assassin. She is there to scare people like Raynor's Hyperion or to bait by being understimated. You charge her, knowing she is squishy, only for her to either pull good damage or show up out of nowhere behind enemy line and pipe your head, when you thought you are on the save side of the wall.
She kinda does do that job, though! In and out disruption and high burst damage, sometimes picking up cheeky kills. Zeratul has a dagger, yes, but he's more of a London stealth character, because he won't get off of you until you're thoroughly ripped to shreds by his armblade.
@@curiouswind9196 That's a genuinely great question! I dunno. That really depends on how much time she spends in the kitchen, whether on or off of a mission.
When I was starting playing HotS 4 years ago, Nova was my favorite hero. I spammed her like crazy and didn't understand why this immediately tilted my team in SL. :D
as always a great video, nicely portraited! its true she is from an era when hots was very young. but i still dont get have to send her hologram into certain directions thou ^^ also i really liked your intro statement, that every hero has its own niche where ones can shine :)
Well Triple tap is really useless, because you stay idle all skill long, can be interrupt by any stun and only one thing this skill good for is memes. Also it can be a good idea to share talent presets for different situation/maps. Because even if all viewers are long time HotS players - it is still a guide. But yes.
@@user-go2ld4ti6r really? I've found it incredibly useful. You can sort of one-shot certain heroes with it. They'll think that they're safe because they've only taking a little bit of damage but, it's just enough to kill them with triple tap. I will say that it's not great during team fights when there's a lot of things going on. And, even when solo, you need to position yourself perfectly. But, that's Nova. You're not gonna get far using her without good positioning.
The most accurate representation of nova that I have seen, yea she is pretty weak outside of healerless quickmatch games, but there is a certain appeal to just turning your brain off and getting that free nova value. I just treat the nova combo as 40% squish health, 20% frontline health and try to make sure i don't succumb to nova brain and take 100% of my health for that value. Oh and my favorite thing to look for in nova when she is on my team: when the nova on my team is about to get afk kicked for standing still so long!
I wouldn't have expected it to be Nova, but looking at those stats..yeah. Yeah, that sounds about right. That being said, I am actually really happy to see this. I rather like Nova, possibly because I otherwise am just a support main in general. Picking her does always feel like I may be letting my team down though.
89.7% win rate nova in qm here (master in soloq but with other heroes) nova has a kill secure build. Pick increased slow at 1, armor penetration bullets at 7, aoe ult, then what you do basically is stack up your Q to 5, go on a target, slow, R, auto, Q. If you do that combo it's inescapable unless you have a dash and will take about 70% of a squishy health bar. If you pick double slow charges on 13 you can then slow them again for a second R at lvl 20 that can allow kills on many targets in seconds. I usually pick aoe Q damage on 16 for map control purposes and mercenaries on 4, but holo 60% on 4 is great vs garrosh, artanis and stitches to block swaps and it can also combo with hologram damage on 16 to allow a decent spam tool for harass purposes.
0:43 I had a teammate tell me we lost the match on Braxis Holdout because, as Tracer, I did not pick the 'W' talents at 1 and 16 that would have given me better waveclear. That was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever read. Sure, a level 16 talent was what was holding us back the entire game. My bad.
As a beginner, I tried playing HoTS a few years ago. I love StarCraft, wow, warcraft 3. I told everyone I was new, and proceeded to have teammates- every single game- tell me how bad I was, in the foulest ways possible. Maybe all solo games is needed for me, no multiplayer. The game community was not beginner friendly. So I stopped.
The older games have most of the time veteran like community that not only does not want to loose but also expects that becomes game was out for really long time that you know what to do and can pull your weight and there is no time for teaching. This trend is really good to see for example in Dota if you have no idea how to play your role you will not have a great time. That being said in Hots if you played QM and somone bitched about you being new player and being bad they should take thier ass and opinion on ranked and whine on thier bronze tier where no one will listen to them. Also when playing Moba genre it's best to play with at least 1 friend more experienced with the game the better.
More than half the time it isn't Nova that's necessarily dragging your team down it's the person playing it. Standing in stealth forever near a lane because they think Anti Armor shells means they just gotta poke once and run, always missing Snipes and never having that massive 5 stack bonus, choosing TT because they see the level 20 upgrade and think the enemy team are bots. An active Nova that knows how to play and knows which talents to pick can contribute a lot of single target damage on any enemy hero but ofc 99% of them just sit in stealth for most of the game.
To be honest, I would say that in her current state Nova is just a bad version of Valeera. Less mechanics/game knowledge required, yes, but you pay for this by way smaller utility. If we move 16 Q talent to level 4 or 7 (like Imperius cleave, for example), she would instantly become a viable hero.
With sgt. Hammer moba becomes Tower Defense game with 4 hereos running around hammer and waiting for her to right click everything to death as most of the time when you want to dive her your ass will be targetted by 3 angry bears and goose with a medigun. Basically you either coordinate with your team to take it down or you have to ignore it and try to counter push other lane.
I'm glad that people still play this game. It's way better than most people give it credit for.
Fox, I guarantee this video will singlehandedly raise the Nova winrate by 4% and I'm going to have to start pointing some fingers
"The most feared opponent is the one you never see." -sun tzu -precision strike nova

the tilting power of a well played nova is a force to be reckoned with
that's her biggest strenght tbh, just tilt the enemy laners for easy dub
I remember in the early days where Nova was meta and was up there with Ming in pure high poke damage. I miss those days :(
Nova is giving me Spy TF2 vibes after this video.

That petty Tracer bomb share xD

Blowing up novas as ming when they assume your a free kill just because your a mage is always satisfying
This made me miss playing the game with friends and I wish bliz would give this game the love it deserves

Death by a thousand paper cuts
Solid guide, as usual. Nova is clean up. If you can position yourself well, no enemy hero will escape team fights. :)

i recognize like many of the players in the videos from either my friends list or solo q, kinda shows how small the game is, but nice to see them
Would love a genji guide since i feel like him and nova fulfill similar roles
you nailed it on the head, Nova is the definition of "do you want to have fun or do you want to win?"

She's slow on waveclear requiring 16 but once she hits it she has one of the best waveclears in the game.
