Back in the day, Cloughie strongarmed his first choice Forest keeper Mark Crossley into playing for Simon's sunday league team because they didn't have a keeper that weekend. As the story goes, Simon's team was fined for playing a professional/ringer and Brian Clough took the fine out of Crossley's wages. Mad family, the Cloughs.
Kalidou Sidibe is an absolute monster and helped me massively in getting promoted from Ligue 2 on my Red Star save. Get him on the front post at corners and give him a role that allows him to Shoot More Often. Guaranteed goals
Scottish championship is tricky due to the semi pro crap of many teams. Loans and free trials for those out of contract are best things that worked for me, took five seasons to get Peterhead promoted, first season in SPFL we finished 3rd, found championship harder than the top flight
I am Cornflakes, managed to get promoted before the save your saves video. It was indeed my loans that saved me as Stuart Ross powered through the playoffs. Problem with Celtic loans had been either 1. Celtic players didn't want to play for us or 2. Celtic didnt want that player to play for us. 3. You can only loan 2 players from one team so I had to hope the right players from Celtic come on board. Definitely should have been scouting that team in depth. New problem. The team decided to go pro... a year from now. Our budget is 1/52 of Celtic. We are a Scottish League 1 talent in the Scottish premiership. Struggling to find a tactic to try and be mediocre enough to not be relegated.
I know I'm not Zealand, but my go-to tactic when being a clear underdog is either 4-4-1-1 or 4-1-4-1, keep it simple with the instructions unless you really wanna exploit a strength in your team (i.e a player with really good long shots). The formation itself should help the team mantain a more defensively solid block, so you can have one of the fullbacks as wing-backs, knowing that the wingers will be a little bit further back so as not to end up too vulnerable in counter-attacks. As Zealand says, player ability is more important, but I believe simple, compact formations can help underdogs scrap a few points off of bigger teams.
Love seeing some Burton Albion saves. The whole squad was different but I noticed one same scout there compared to my project. The thing is, I'm still on FM 2019 as I'm not ready to move on.
