It's a fantastically scripted and researched video! Your musical choices, cadence, and structure is impeccable. Though I will say, work on the visuals and editing, as some names pop up and disappear before you say them, and the screen will at times sit uncomfortably long on a black screen. But other than small gripes, your content is quickly becoming a favorite of mine! Keep it up!
I remember seeing someone I follow on Insta showing their entry for the 2022 contest. I got so excited, went to see how to enter, saw it was exclusively for Japan and the US and feeling so deflated. There was a lot of discourse from other international peeps on the official tweet about the contest by the Pokemon company. Hopefully they'll open the next contest internationally for the rest of their fans.
I love using the vending series Mr. Mime in the second GBC game. It's really nice for neutralising decks' type weaknesses. I never realised it was a fan illustration.
holy crow this is an amazing video! i love documentaries like this, and i love the way you describe and compliment all the art. i know nothing about the mechanics of the TCG but i'm a HUGE poké-art fan, and this really made it enjoyable and approachable to learn about this corner of the franchise! I do want to say, I think the text overlay layer of the video might have de-synced during compression (gotta love Adobe Ae lmao). hopefully there's some way to fix it easily because this is otherwise a god-tier watch and deserves a ton of traction!
This video was super well put together and informative! I didn't know so many illustration contests were held before. Phenomenal job! Love when people document the more obscure like this.
This is a great video, even despite the minor editing mistakes with the text. I’m planning on entering this years contest myself, so this will be a great source of reference for what does and doesn’t work.
There had to have been commercials for that Kids WB contest. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have heard about it otherwise, but I could be wrong, because I also spent a lot of time on their website as a kid. But I vaguely remember seeing the commercials for it. I was also one of the runner ups! Still have those cards albeit in really messed up condition. My younger sister got pen marks all over the Pikachu card which is the most valuable now.
the 2022 contest had alot of bias in selecting which art made it. they will tell you to draw a pokemon going about their day but they choose most of the art of pokemon (meditating under a waterfall) how do i know? i WAS COMPETING in it and was look at all the ones that semi made it and keep track of it. what most people dont know about this specific contest is that if you won they have all rights to your art and can do whatever they want. im glad the 2024 didn’t have any BS/ no favoritism and it was fare game but 2022 that contest rubbed me the wrong way if i knew drawing mons under a waterfall made me a potential runner up i would already do it. but instead they picked famous people or people who already work for the tcg on the 2022 contest and honestly they gave no potential artist a chance to be put on the big screen and i wanna see that. this is my take and my experience with the whole 2022 contest and im glad i didnt make it or they will just claim my art as their own.
Great video! I wish that Illustrator belonged to anyone else except Logan Paul. However, when I watched the video of him officially purchasing it, he did look genuinely happy. But he still doesn’t deserve it after robbing his fans lol.
Was the names popping up before the artists or pictures intentional? that happened alot ex. Julie hang's name showed up about 3 seconds the actual picture popped in
@Weaboolin gonna be real, I thought it was just lack of sleep playing tricks on me so I figured I'd ask, real glad to see I wasn't going nuts there lmao
It is too bad that these competitions will never be the same. The 2024 contest revealed how much AI generated garbage goes through. So many hart working artists got shafted by lazy and entitled people submitting AI pictures. :(
I was one of the 5k runner ups for the WB contest. I still have that pack somewhere. I remember being so thrilled to even be a runner up.
Incredible video. That Slowpoke card at 28:35 almost made me tear up it was so cute. Little guy has rocks for brains.

I was a runner up for the kids WB contest! I got the booster pack. I fairly recently sent it and some other cards to a collector on UA-cam.

The newest illustrator contest is being advertised right now and even if I literally don't have any chance I'm going to try

Honestly is a surprise that this video doesnt have enough views! Keep up the good work!!

30:44 Sort of reminds me of a Spiritomb and Tyranitar GX Tag Team.

What a great video! Nice job
Really awesome, well made video! Keep up the good work ☺ Loved this deep dive.
Stupendous video
I've got a question! Are the initial 20 copies given to the artists glossy as well? I wonder if they are exactly the same.
Awesome video! Can’t wait to see more :)

No, I think the text got desynced with the other visuals in the final stages of editing. Surprised you’re the first person to mention it lol

underrated👇

no hate but your annotations are a bit funky and off timing
