    And so it contiunes... Why buy stuff like this in the first place when you know you don't have the resources/facilities/skills/commitment to sort it. But, hey, whatever makes you happy

    I would say that you have hit the nail on the head when it comes to the pros and cons of keeping a classic car without somewhere off road with shelter where a car can be kept and maintained. Classic cars are not to be used as a daily driver in my opinion, but generally, this would appear to be your intention, albeit that you still have not obtained a full driving licence. It is about time you put the horse before the cart (get your licence before getting another car). Being able to drive a car yourself legally on the public highway would increase your self-esteem tenfold, and focus your attention on what (classic) car you can afford and maintain on the roadside.
    I say go for it Sheldon, pass your driving test, prove that you are a real car enthusiast who wants to drive, instead of just cheering from the side lines.

    Prime for a 3.9 swap, I'd keep the modern fuel injection and swap that 3 speed slush box for a 5 speed out of a late SD1 or see if there was a way of updating the Auto box to a more modern one ie if there was a way of sticking the internal from an Auto Disco (obviously not that actual box!!!) into the P6 casing. Still if a Hampshire Constabulary P6 can be on sell for 15- 20k four and half is good when the body is in good shape must be worth that all day long!! Hope you sell to someone who can do what's needed to make it even more complete Sheldon!! 😃😃

    Not sure why you would get rid of this car? If the engine needs work then do it and film it every step of the way - you seem to lack confidence but I'm fairly certain that this car is within your capabilities. Seeing you work on cars is the main reason for watching your channel - not selling and buying. C'mon Sheldon, strip it, fix it, drive it.

    I will take a look at it for you if you haven't sold it before we come down. May just be a case of small Adjustment on the Factory set fuel mixture screws . Normally leave alone but they can rattle loose. Also are the dash pots dry ? Need to be Quarter filled with engine oil combined with a light spray of WD40 .

    I wouldn't worry about the motor those Buick V8s are very tough, my old high compression 3500s motor was still going despite the fact 2 of the cam lobes were rounded, i would keep it ,after the disappointment of Kismet, this is a solid car, get rid of the SUs put in a Weber or Holley, thats just my thoughts, good luck either way.

    Ring around, an engine swap might be less the £2K. Much less if you already have the engine.

    I thought you were reviewing a Rover but that striped jaguar looks mint and not at all scary. 🙀 Lovely Rover but placement of that spare wheel calls for a rearview camera?

    • @brianwhittington5086
      @brianwhittington5086 6 місяців тому

      I had the boot mount touring kit on many of the P6s I had in the late 70s - 80s. The rear view through the back window is actually much better than you would think. It's definitely an asset to fit door or wing mirrors, though if you regularly use the spare fitted on the boot mount. On the later P6s, you could get the Dunlop Denovo Runflat wheeIs and tyres as a factory fit option, meaning you didn't need a spare wheel.
