Right before the entire rood opens this is w/o a doubt one of the world's best bike rides. And when it's a sunny day as when you were there it makes it all that much more impressive. View is fantastic. I ride this every year on my cycle. I take it there were many riders there that day?
We wanted to do the drive in June last year on our way to Alaska, but it was still closed to car traffic. We did do it in July on our way home. Check out Episode 9 on my channel for our Going to the Sun road video. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, many of the guard rails are removable. They're taken out in the fall when the road crew closes the road so that avalanches can slide over the road more easily, otherwise the force would hit those guard rails and rip them off. They replace them in the spring shortly before reopening the road to vehicles. If you ever get a chance to bike it in the spring I can't recommend it enough!
Yes from the time they start plowing the road to the time they open it up to vehicles it's just for hikers and bikers which makes it absolutely wonderful!
looks like you had a great trip! keep traveling & keep creating, I look forward to more content! we've got some unique travel videos over on our channel, check them out (:
We hope to do this on the 22nd of June. Your video inspired me!
I hope you get to do it! It's the most amazing bike ride in the world when it's closed to vehicles!

Thank you
Are the railings missing on some parts next to the cliff? Nice not to have to deal with cars. :)

Thx, my soul needed that ride. Although U did get going pretty fast there @ the weeping wall.
Glad you enjoyed it montana1951! Biking that road in the spring before the cars get on it is one my most favorite experiences in life.
