Physician-Assisted Suicide: A Jewish Perspective

A presentation by Dennis Prager, PhD given on January 5, 2006 at Loma Linda University. After emphasizing the unique and tremendous value of human life seen in the fundamentalist Jewish perspective, Dr. Prager discusses the additional value of human life since the concept of an afterlife is not emphasized in Judaism. He then discusses the competing value of the reduction of human suffering which is also central to Judaism. Finally, Dr. Prager proposes his own approach to the question of physician assisted suicide by keeping it illegal without making it impossible in all cases.
