Across the railroad tracks by the ruins of Joliet Iron Works Park. This was a rolling mill where they reheated steel and shaped it into railroad rails etc. The actual steel making shut down in the 1930's, but US Steel kept the rolling operations going until the early 1980's
The Joliet Hot Mills Nos. 1,2, and 3 rolled billets into hot rod. Not steel rails. There was a steel mill on E.Jackson St. that re-rolled railroad rails.
When we were kids in the 90's, we would sneak past security and make our way into these buildings. Few workers throughout the grounds for some reason, but it was mostly abandoned then.
I've worked in four steel facilities in my life. They all look the same inside. No matter where I was it was always so similar to the other places that I have worked.
Two quick questions lol 1. Can I have a job? 2. Did you guys have to take down the one bagger video because of the Vanilla $prite remix song? If you did, you got me all f****d up inside! half of those views were mine! everymoring I’d wake up turn off my alarm, and watch that 30 rollllllll.

I suspect this is the former Wire Mill facility , not the Hot Mills
