i forget how high quality videos can be. THANK YOU FOR WORKING SO HARD ON THIS VIDEO! Timestamps and clear discussion, great B roll, and lovely insight. THANK YOU AGAIN!
This helped enormously-- I'm almost starting from scratch. I truly have about 15 items of clothing in ALL. It helped to hear that it's about what I actually WEAR, not just what I like to LOOK at. I like the look of Classic or Romantic styles, but they're too structured for me to wear or are often itchy. So instead of fighting that, I'll embrace being Casual and do what you do: add a few details to make me more work-appropriate but not miserable and unhappy.
I admire your channel, to keep what you have and not go out buying every new latest "thing" that comes along. I was able to take long scarves and sew them onto a skirt for a wild, bohemian type skirt that was inspired by styles in Vogue magazine. Thanks for Use Less. It's helping me a lot. I also follow a variety of fashion channels here on UA-cam. At 77 years 5 months, I definitely am comfortable in my own skin, even if I need to lose a few pounds for health and fitting back into some favorites. I also took a black wool jacket and updated it with ribbon and new buttons. What fun.
Thank you for these videos! I’m seventeen and I’ve recently been interested in minimalism and decluttering, especially before I head off to college, and your videos have been inspiring! I never found that much satisfaction in picking out my outfit everyday but a small wardrobe seems like a great way to go because there’s definitely a few things I wear a lot more often than others
I can’t express enough how much I needed this video ... I feel like my fashion is all over the place leaving me feeling like I don’t have a personal style.
This video is exactly what I needed today. I think many of us are using this period of time to rethink our spending and get a grasp on our wardrobes. I’ve lost 60 lbs on the last year and now that I’m at maintenance, I want to find my style and curate a wardrobe that will be long lasting.
Wow! That’s so inspiring! I lost 18 lbs by following a healthy diet and now my weight is stuck. Could you please share your journey? Also, how to break weight loss plateau? Please. That would be helpful 🥺💖
I’m so glad you’re getting your qualifications. There are so many untrained “personal stylists” out there, and some are even offering their own courses to “train stylists”. They tend to be very young, know little if anything about design, fabrics, color, cuts or styles, and can only do one personal style, their own, for their own body shape and colors. I heard an 18-year confidently announce “wrap styles work for every bust size”. For her A- size they might work, but not for my E cup, and there are women who are much bigger. In fact, there is rarely enough fabric in wrap styles to even meet across my average size, much less a bigger one. I can’t learn much from these girls who think satin is a fiber (it’s a type of weave and can be made in various fibers), or that viscose is hot and non-breathable (it’s the coolest and most breathable), or call every big collar a “Peter Pan”.
I’m always attracted to color, pattern and detail. But when I analyzed my wardrobe, what do I love to wear the most? The most simple items in neutral colors and comfy natural fabrics. My very simple black linen V-neck sleeveless dress is my summer favorite, I wear it so many different ways and always feel great in it. Last year I scrimped and saved to buy a beautiful, brightly-colored, patterned designer silk bow-tie blouse. I still haven’t worn it yet, maybe I should frame it and hang it on the wall instead. I have to stop buying art and start buying clothes instead.
I just found this video and I’m so excited to use these tools! I’ve been trying to change my style to what I want it to be, not embracing the style I already have and what I already love. I’ve realized when I wear what I feel really good in, not just what I think is “trendy”, I’m the most comfortable. Thank you!
I just discovered your channel and it’s a breath of fresh air!! I’ve started bringing minimalism into my life and you’re the first “influencer” that really speaks my minimal-language! Looking forward to every video you create :) xx
Well explained. I find your video the most helpful. Everyone should build their capsule wardrobe based on their own lifestyle, taste and personality. Thanks
For anyone who feels the 6-8 tops and 3-4 bottoms you often wear doesn't really define you - that's ok! Many people have a lot of styles, depending on the weather & occasion. We wear different clothes to work than we do for catching up with friends, or chilling out at home, or gardening / hiking / traveling or going dancing or special occasions. Don't stress too much about finding a 'core style'. Just try to think about which clothes you can use for different purposes, and try not to buy too many that you won't wear often.
This concept is something I wish I had when I first got into slow/sustainable fashion a year ago. I had done a lot of decluttering and restructuring, but I was still shopping for things that either didn't feel like me or was just part of a trend. Either way, I'm super excited for you with this new online course you're putting out! :)
Ok this is HANDS DOWN the most useful vid i’ve found on finding personal style/ensuring you’re purchasing items that align with what you like & who you are in a way that is practical. Also this is coming from someone who is pursuing personal styling🙌🏾
My style is so similar to yours and I always gravitate to jeans/pants/TShirts/Shirts/jumpers/blazers. These clothes are what I feel most comfortable wearing. I have a couple of dresses that I wear when it is really hot. I really love your blue blazer, that was such a great find for you. The colour suits you perfectly! Really enjoyed this video. ❤️
Love the pile of favorite pieces you chose! I also have a primarily casual style with classic secondary! Hitting the closet for seasonal change over and you have inspired me!
I took a few minutes after watching this video to see which clothes I gravitate to in my wardrobe during my working from home phase, and while I didn't HATE any of my pieces that I took out, I certainly was underwhelmed and wasn't excited about what style these pieces described. Things were very casual, usually layered (winter here currently) with sweaters a main basic, and all jean bottoms. Definitely have clothes for home and clothes for an office environment that I dont tap into as much with little overlap btwn the two. Anyways, interesting exercise has made me think where I may want to push my casual, warm, sensible wardrobe.
So helpful 💙 I’ve recently been doing a purge of my closet as I turn 28 later this year. I feel my closet needs have really changed in the last few years and it’s been tough to find clothes that I love, and that last... all while keeping my closet fairly minimal. Your tips really helped!!
I think this is one of my favourite ever videos from you! I love how much thought you put into creating a beautiful and practical capsule wardrobe and how you help others to do the same 💕
Thank you for this video! I have recently fallen in love with unisex tees. I think they fit me better than true female sized tees since I'm very straight up and down and not terribly busty. I never thought to look at men's clothing until you inspired me to look outside the box in order to find your true style 💕
ive been overwhelmed looking at styling videos because none of it seemed like anything i would want to wear or is practical for my lifestyle. i was kind of losing hope but this video helped me figure out MYSELF and how to find what works for me. nothing against the other videos though as there are still things to glean from them but i just have to pick out what works for me and leave the rest.
I looove watching this videos and your channel. I feel like i learn a lot, but sometimes i question myself. When u said " u have to pickup 6 to 8 shirts" .... Wait a minute... I just have like 5 and 3 pants 😂😂😂😂😂
Your videos are amazing! You've helped me a lot since I started following you - even though my style is very different from yours (I have been known to wear button-downs and shift skirts/shift dresses on the weekend) 😊. Would you consider doing a video for those of us working corporate jobs, but trying to find a different "weekend style" without breaking the bank (and without looking like a frump 😉) and also maybe using those very classical pieces we already own? Again, thank you so much for your videos!
Signe...I really enjoyed this content! My core style is definitely casual but so different from yours. I have feminine and boho vibes as secondary styles and a different colour palette so it is very interesting for me to realise that another casual dresser interprets style so differently. Well done on a great video. Love the direction you're taking us in!
I sent this video to a number of my contacts on Cladwell who have just joined as it is so well laid out and so practical...you have done a great job here sweetheart and I will be watching this one a few more times for the content and steps....Big HUGS....and the blue blazer is sooo pretty on you....it highlights your eyes and suits your coloring....you are such a delight and so inspirational across a broad age range too....LOL..Big Hugs
The entirety of this video is very valuable and life-changing, you just put things in their proper perspective, so refreshing. This is a video I can watch over and over again in the years to come or if I feel like I need to re-align myself. Truly appreciate you
I think I'm one of very few people for whom the 3 step process wouldn't really work. I always wear my oldest and least loved pieces on a daily bases. I save the rest for the special occasions ( that never come often enough😖). Also having a 1 year old child, I know she will "ruin" everything I wear by staining or toring appart😪. But I love the concept and will find a way to work around it.
This video really helped me find my core style, which is romantic. My secondary is the opposite I feel, edge. So in my core romantic wardrobe I will add some animal prints and some other edgy accessories. Thank you so much. I still have other random pieces like plaid fannel shirts for camping. I guess I can put those items off to the side.
wow! these are some great advise! the title promises very much and I didn‘t expect such a high quality video. there are so many videos on youtube with smiliar title an no useful content behind😅 I also felt guilty. I own so many clothes which I wear rarely only to special occasions.
Okay such a weird coincidence just happened! I watched your video and thought omg what a beautiful blazer, so I went onto depop and searched blazer. Then a beautiful dark grey blazer came up that I adored so I googled it to see more pictures. Then alongside the grey blazer, your blue blazer you’re wearing came up too! So I had accidentally stumbled across the grey version of your blazer and loved it 😂
I have the Ganni blazer you are talking about ... the Woodside plaid in "Ebony" and just wanted to say I love it. Iit does not look as gray as the photo in person. It changes color depending on what colors you wear it with. I found it looks great with a medium dark blue denim or Baltic Blue color or a moss green.
I just stumbled across your videos yesterday and have been watching video after video. I'm becoming your biggest fan! I LOVE your advice, it's soooo spot on! Sending you good vibes from Canada and keep up your amazing work!!!! Truly inspiring and I think you're making a difference in our consumer mindsets
I really adore your content, extremely helpful ! If I may give you and advise of my own, you should swap your wired coat hangers for velvet ones, it will help maintain your clothes for longer and won’t damage them as much. Again thanks for sharing your brilliant work !
I've been staring at you during the video trying to figure it out... It's your hair!!! You look stunning and breath-taking (in my opinion, of course) with longer hair :) and thank you for making amazing content as always! Love from Italy
Interestingly, I think I have 2 different core styles. Is that possible?? My ‘off from work days ‘ is very similar to your style . However, my work style is different. I wear black straight leg pants , jackets w cashmere sweaters and kitten heals. I always wanted to have a capsule wardrobe but it’s not possible . Maybe 2...one for casual and one for work. Thanks 😊
Quick question about narrowing down to a capsule wardrobe. Is there a rough number of colors you suggest sticking to or is it more of a spectrum? I primarily have black and white in my closet and I am trying to bring more color into my wardrobe, especially with spring and summer arriving. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated!
I’m curious what your advice is if you don’t currently have much of anything in your closet that you love wearing. My son is two and a half, and ever since he’s been born nothing in my closet resonates with me. I maybe have one sweater I truly love. I feel like I’m starting from scratch, and it’s totally overwhelming.
Jillian Lare oh that is a longer process for sure! I’d love to help you out, maybe my online course can answer your questions once it goes live! Hoping it will be up by summer or autumn this year ❤️ but finding your style is a crucial step to figure out what kinds of faves you would love to fill your wardrobe with!
hi! my kid is also 2 and a half and my youngest is ten months. I totally get you. I don't know about you, but my body has changed and my older clothes don't fit me or my new lifestyle. It is a process for sure. I'd start with a good pair of jeans (in a dark wash because STAINS) and two or three tops. you know, build a base. And slowly start building your wardrobe again to fit the life you have now!
@@susanagonzalezcodina9758 Yes! It's party the body changes and partly because I'm older now and in a different career too. I also started experimenting with better quality clothes and natural fibers, so I'm finding it hard to go back to fast fashion. But, I don't have the budget to build a new wardrobe from scratch either.
@@JillianLareID mother of two here 👋 our lives change so much when coming a parent! I stopped wearing jewelry for many years and there's no way I could run in heels and miniskirts after my two sons 😄 I recommend you to make a pinterest board of outfits you like and maybe you will get (hopefully practical) ideas from there 😊
Excellent - especially the tip 'buy for your lifestyle' I was just surprised the wardrobe contained clothes hung on wire hangers - surely these hangers spoil the shape of the clothes. Not everyone has this expertise so I think that once we have found our 'core style' we could search someone who has a similar style to give us inspiration. My style inspiration would be Victoria Beckham or Audrey Hepburn. Love your videos - so well presented and, clear and inspirational - thank you.
When I retired 8 years ago I went from slacks, blazers and blouses to a totally different lifestyle. I garden and paint. Neither of which is a tidy pastime. It has taken a while to figure out what to wear while engaging in those activities because I am out and about painting several times a week.
Hello, thanks for this video. My core style is definitely boho/casual, but I will be working in a professional business and need to dress accordingly. I don't know how to make my boho style professional. I love cotton and dislike polyester, rayon etc... like you, I like blazers, but they must be comfortable to wear, move in not tight and stiff. Suggestions on where to go from here?
oh my goooddd i usually hardly notice your blue/grey eyes until this video! those are sooo cleaarrrrr! im shook when i realized how beautiful your eyes are! anyways, good video as usual!
What if I don't have 5 tops or 3 bottoms that I truely love wearing? Do I just stick with the one or two? Is that enough to create an idea of what my style is?
I kinda have the same problem. I don't really love most of my items, I just think they look ok and are comfy. In case you see my reply a year later... could you solve this problem?
Hello, love your videos. A question here. I love to wear more white t shirts or cotton T-shirt in general, but I think they last so short. A couple of washes they are discolored. I dislike yellowing white T shirt at all but hate to throw them away either. You wear T shirt a lot. Any suggestions for keeping them longer? I’d like to build a minimal wardrobe and stop buying things for casual wear, but still have to keep buying white Tshirts... any thoughts will be helpful :)
Pre-treat stains, underarms and inside collars before every wash, then let it work for 15 minutes. Then wash true whites only together (not even off-whites, ivories, pastels, etc., I wash my white towels with them to get full loads) in the hottest water they can take, I size up for the shrinkage caused by this. I use detergent and a full scoop of BIZ, agitate the load for a few minutes, let it soak for 30 minutes, then resume the cycle. Also, use minimal deodorant and blot it a few seconds after applying it to remove any excess. Don’t leave whites hanging around unwashed, wash them right away (say within a week) after wearing. I never get yellowing anymore following this technique, and I wear mostly white tops. Mine stay white for 20 years, I don’t replace them until they get holes in them. I hope this helps🙂

OMG, I have to pause to comment when I turned on this video, you blue blazer is so beautiful!
Bebeeru thank you! 😍😍
I did the same!!!! That blazer is beautiful ♥
Exactly
You know it’s a good day when you watch a UA-cam video and take notes ☺️ Thank you! I‘m really looking forward to the upcoming content.
What fun.
Blue is your color brings out the color of your eyes ❤️
Thank you for these videos! I’m seventeen and I’ve recently been interested in minimalism and decluttering, especially before I head off to college, and your videos have been inspiring! I never found that much satisfaction in picking out my outfit everyday but a small wardrobe seems like a great way to go because there’s definitely a few things I wear a lot more often than others
All my clothes are free or thrifted and bought on $1.00 days. But my style is easy. Straight jeans or leggins with big men's dress shirt with a scarf.
You should wear baby blue/sky blue more it really brings out the blue in your eyes.
I really like the core style concept, great video. I’m in the process of reevaluating my wardrobe, super helpful! Thanks

Proof how just a small details like hair split (i dont know if thats the word😀) makes such a huge difference. You look so fresh and beautiful. Bravo
Do you mean how she parted (or didn't part) her hair? It does look very nice.
Ms_Tex yes how she parted her hair differently. Not in the middle but on the side
Odessa Sudeku I think it looks better when she parts it in the middle

That blue blazer is a fantastic color on you! So good that maybe you should consider adding that color as a “basic” to your wardrobe. ;)
That blue.blazer is really nice. It brightens up everything. Good choice
Wow! That blazer looks great on you! Lovely color 💃💃💃

Echoing everyone else. You look great in light blue! 😘
I love the hair, fresh new take for spring
Thanks Signe 😘 stay safe and vigilant 🙏🏼😘
I stopped wearing jewelry for many years and there's no way I could run in heels and miniskirts after my two sons 😄 I recommend you to make a pinterest board of outfits you like and maybe you will get (hopefully practical) ideas from there 😊
Jillian Lare same here 👩👧👧 but there is a hope 😉 for us mamas
Really helpful, thanks! ❤

I love your videos! They are so incredibly helpful and comprehensive! Also always very aesthetic!! Can't wait for your course to be available!!!
Great video, and looking forward to the course. Thank you for the inspiration. XX
Excellent - especially the tip 'buy for your lifestyle'
I was just surprised the wardrobe contained clothes hung on wire hangers - surely these hangers spoil the shape of the clothes.
Love this video!! 💫♥️ thank you ☺️
Very helpful | inspiring … 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽thank you I’m sure you’ve accomplished your educational venture by this time ..

Loved this. So helpful, interesting and just what I need at the moment. Thank you. x
Can’t wait!! Great tips!!
Thanks dear 😘I can’t wait for online course 😍😍
What if everything in my wardrobe is hand-me-downs? I don't like any of it, but had no choice? How do I determine my style?
I love love love this video! Thank you so much Signe 👌🏻👍🏻

Thanks for a great and informative video 🤗
My style is simple and casual with a few nice looking pieces thrown in.
Dang Girl you look stunning!!
@@kimberlyperrotis8962 what do you pre-treat with?
Love this!
