I had the low oem seat on my R1200R and got the tall Sargent to get my knees less cramped and was shocked to find that I could get my feet much flatter on the ground. Side by side the Sargent is curved and narrowed where it needs to be to allow this. You feel much more confident paddling the bike around. I did 300 miles in a day on the oem seat and it was brutal, did 800 in a day on the Sargent and never had to stand up or move around or any of the sillyness needed with the oem.
We actually went from a low seat to this and the height is .5” taller than BMW’s low seat. Sargent seats used to show height comparisons on their site but I can’t find it anymore.
Looks great. If you ever think it's too tall, you can send your stock seat to Bitchn Stitchn here in Colorado and those guys will cover it with premium materials and styling. I had them build me a full custom seat using the OEM pans and shaving/shaping foam. Price was less than most of the other brands and it looks amazing.
Good to know! It's a really fine line because in my honest opinion (and I'll be a bit wordy here), Heather will grow into a skill level that will have no issue with a seat this low. With boots + skills, flat footing only one foot is A-OK to running a bike. Lots of shorter riders ride GSAs all day w/o issues. However, I do remember about 3 months ago an ADVRider Radio podcast episode with a female rider who said women do have less upper body strength and rely heavily on leg strength so they need that contact patch with the ground so Heather may have to go back to OEM Low for that first month back in the saddle before cutting over to the Sargent seat. On our tours this Summer, I'll still carry most of the supplies and weight so she can have a lighter bike and not feel she's piloting a bus when trying to maneuver around parking lots and tight spaces.
I just ordered the same Sargent low seat, they offered 15% off with free shipping, pretty good deal. I had a Sargent in the past and was very happy. Thanks for the review, but if I continue watching you're videos it's going to cost me a lot of money, lol. I'm looking to get crash bars next. BTW, I mentioned to the rep (Dane) that I saw your Sargent video on UA-cam and he knew you.
Well, I think it's all money well spent. Once we have the F750 for one full riding year, heather and I will sit down and discuss each modification and talk about removing some things that didn't have an impact. Will be sure to document as things break or are removed. and yeah, Dane Rocks! I've bought like 5 seats from him over the years.

The sergeant is more comfortable. Without a doubt. Grippier sides, more lower back support in the hump and crotch support on the front. it's without a doubt an upgrade. This isn't just our opinion but if you look at the F850 Accessories thread on ADVRider, pretty much everyone who does touring has bought a Sargent now.
I’m trying to figure out if I should go with regular height or the lowered. I have the regular stock seat now and I touch the ground with my toes. I’m 172cm (5,6” 🧐) and have pretty short legs. Would I compromise a lot on the comfort by going on the lowered seat? Would be nice to be able to flat foot or throw my leg over :)
Tough call since I only have experience with the low. The normal will have more foam but I don't find this seat too hard or too thin for all day touring. flat footing is more important in my opinion .

This specifically, too early to tell since it's Winter but me personally, I have 30K+ miles on the sergeant seats on 3 previous bikes and I prefer it to OEM but as I remarked in the video. Every BMW owner will tell you BMW seats suck but they're actually pretty good!
When I bought my 2014 1200 I bought a Sargent seat of Ebay, and after trying it I found out that I like more the stock seat, on the Sargent I was sliding around and also have some weird curvature in the back that won't let you move much. I put 25k miles on the original seat no problem!

Heather is about 5'6" but has a very short inseam so she wanted more saddle comfort without compromising flat-footing. Turns out this seat is only about .25" taller than the stock low model from BMW. Her favorite thing about the seat is the little lower back support bubble. it's more pronounced than the stock seat.
@@AdamChandler86 my wife has regular version of the bike w stock seat and she can easily tiptoeing , her inseam is slightly over 30 inches, I think it would be awesome solution for her, she started riding on BMW 310 r and that’s her second bike (not totally newbie 👆) thank you, keep up good work
You're actually not the first to ask! Heather may want to sell eventually but I've advised her to keep the OEM. The OEM will go with the bike when she sells it and we can sell the sergeant used for around $200 when it's time to get rid of this bike. That's my advice but you'll have to check with her to see how she feels.

It's a premium seat for sure! All I can say is my person experience is I love my seat and Heather will need to comment longer term on what her thoughts are. Best to remain skeptical on quality before dropping $500 on a seat. Look at Sargent on Black Friday and various holidays. they do regularly do 10% off + free shipping sales those times of year.

Yep. when I'm back home, I'll look at the tongue and tell you the exact name of the shoes but they're very good. I should grab another pair off EBay if I can cause they're all day comfortable, very waterproof and grippy.

My height is 5’6” and fell short by 15 mm to ride it with confident in traffic. But unfortunately BMW haven’t given much options for it.

It appears they don't make them anymore..can't find them but they are a high top waterproof. Very comfortable.
