This was a great tutorial! My classic palm has always been messy with the coins with me often dropping them, this has given me a clear view, thanks!

Hey Doug, do you know the best place to buy an expanded quarter shell? I keep on looking for one but they are all half dollars.

I’m a lil biased towards this joint:

Thank you again for the lesson! You're such a great teacher.
One small bit of history. Earl Presto was the first to do the palm change with coins. Kaufman didn't know where the move came from when he published CoinMagic, but figured it out later. Kaufman and Jamy Ian Swiss have written about Presto showing it to Roth and other people in NYC at the time.

This is a great one! Roth's method (using the third finger to reach around the coin) didn't work for me so I developed my own version. I then found out that it's very similar to the one in the Kaufman book only that when I drop the coin from the classic palm it doesn't revolve, it just slides down into finger palm. I keep it there with my ring finger and pinky and then classic palm the other one with only the middle finger. By doing that I don't have to reach around a the coin in finger palm, if that makes sense...

Yeah, that makes total sense! I think this is the way Fred Kaps originally developed this switch before Roth made some finesse to it

Do you have to put your hand down flat after you open your hand when you put the coin down on the table? I can do the one-hand palm but it's hard to put my hand flat on the table. Roth likes to put his hand flat on the table a lot.

Nah that’s not necessary, in fact a gently curled hand is more natural
