Unbelievable! Second attempt after miss counting the number of cards prior to the turn and re-order the first time ! I was blown away! You are so dextrous with the cards... hours and years of practice... I am in awe!
That's really amazing! I've tried this over & over several times by myself, using both a riffle shuffle and the rosetta shuffle, and it works every time! This is one trick that your spectator cannot possibly guess how it works 😀👍
Absolute mind blower and great for someone that hasn't practiced a tonne of sleight of hand and all the shifty moves that take so much practice like a guitar player.
Mind blowing yet again!! I followed along, mind blown...then had to pause the end of the vid to do it again right away!! This would be a $20 download on penguin! Wow! Can't wait to try. My very slight variation idea... Deal up and down In the middle part, let them tell you how many up or down (like in a Dani Dortiz, 'one or three or two or four, i dont care') - you can do that a couple times then finish the pack as per vid. Never hurts to add one more bit of random, that was their choice, instead of the magicians! Love this one!
The addition of the Rosetta shuffle really sells this simple self-worker. I've known about the Galbraith principle for decades, but because I dislike and generally pay no attention to mathematical tricks that involve counting and dealing, it still floors me every time I see it used again. 😆
I was following along and thinking this is never going to work! It’s too messy, to unpredictable, there’s just no flippin way…. And then it worked!?!?!?!? This is going straight into my little book of tricks, thank you so much, the kids (and adults) are going to love this one 👍
Amazing!! I did this trick with some friends, with one change - I did the ripple shuffle. That makes the trick 100% consistent and still looks impressive as hell to the average person.
Great trick! Thank you for sharing! I am familiar with the principle and use it with business cards that are torn in half, shuffled, and then match at the end.
I know the inners of the Gilbreath Principle and for that I know that it works every time. I use it to shuffle mnemonica and still know where the cards are and how many cards are in a cut packet. Nice trick.
This trick is a KILLER! The Gilbreath Principle is so powerful. Just so people know, it doesn't have to be exactly 10 and 6 (32 cards total) to work. You just want to have enough to ensure that after they shuffle, the top 20 are from those perfectly alternating blocks being mixed together. It worked every time for me with 8 and 8 (32 cards total), and 7 and 7 (28 cards total). I wouldn't dare go any lower than that. But I also manually set it up with those amounts just to test it out. It is definitely safer to do more at the beginning as its challenging to know when you have exactly 6, 7 or 8 left in your hands at the end. You're simply estimating, and you don't want to overestimate and put yourself in a bind. Also, the Rosetta almost works better as the mixing is more balanced from each packet. Not trying to be critical, just want people to know that they have some flexibility.
Absolutely bro. I agree. After playing with various splits of perfect alternating groups at the start and the end of the mixing, I found this was the most reliable and best balance. All of the above outcomes will achieve the same result. The reason I opt for 10 initially is that the spectator isn’t watching closely as your setting up the premise. Then by the time you’ve explained what your doing you’re into the more random shuffling. This then means there’s less precise alternating at the end - again where their attention is probably the highest and most critical. Absolutely agree that the Rosetta shuffle is more powerful. This is the way I do it. Thanks bro 👊
Hi Matt, is there a specific way that the spectator needs to deal the 10 cards at the end? Does it need to be alternating like how you demonstrated in the video for the trick to work? Thanks
Of course. The nice thing about this is your free to put your own spin on things - I'd always encourage you to come up with your own idea's, so your right on track bro 👊 I think doing anything with your hands behind your back and eye's closed seems impossible. Think if someone solved a Rubiks cube like that - It Seem impossible right? In this case it's about mindset = At the moment your approaching the problem like your trying to 'hide' something. Maybe explore the possibility that your putting the cards behind your back to make the trick seem even more difficult and impossible. Turn the weaker part of the trick into a strength. I'd say that's a pretty elegant approach.
How do you let them do it with your back turned, because how would they know that the need to turn one half of the deck after the cut as well as turn the deck over before dealing the two piles?
E.T.A. Apologies! I've just put the video on again (this time on my computer to watch on a larger screen) and for some reason my phone was skipping part of the video every time it came to taking half the cards off and turning them upside down. No idea why but that's where the problem was. Now working absolutely perfectly every single time. Thank you! I'm usually quite good at card tricks but for some reason I can't get this one to work 🙁 Every time I turn the cards over and then put them into two piles of 10 I get one pile with all the cards face down and the other pile has mostly face up but usually one or two face down so the trick can never work. I'm sure I must be missing a step somewhere or something really simple but totally unable to figure out what at the moment. I've followed the video through at least 10 times now to no avail so going to take a rest and come back to it again in a couple of days to see if I can figure out where I'm going wrong. Really hope I can as this is a great looking effect.

I enjoy your videos. I thought I saw one where the spectator selects a 3 of a kind and then you end up with those as the 3 cards you have left? If so where can I find it.
A little tip. If the spectator flips over the bottom half of the deck, you don't need to turn the deck over after they shuffle the two halves together. Maybe give them a choice of which half to turn over and respond accordingly. Just be sure to note which half is which when they cut it.

Nope! Hence me explaining to alternate the last 6 cards. 😂 it’s these two perfectly alternating section that are shuffled together in order for the Gilbreath principle to do its magic.
Wow! Well nothing is impossible, but there’s always a trade off. I think this is as far as you can take it with a genuine shuffle unless the cards were set up before the start. If you figure it out, let me know! That’s a great question!

Are you flipping the cards behind your back and reverse counting them? If so, you may need to reexamine the sequence when the spectator cuts, flips and shuffles the deck. Followed by you turning the deck over. I think those are the most likely places you could be deviating from the procedure.
@@MattMcGurk Yea I figured it out after sending the comment such a crazy trick I'm baffled how everything lines up even with the chaotic shuffle in the end lie WTF amazing!
My conclusion to how this works or makes sense and how other card performances like this happen. Is my rendered explanation is that what is happening essentially is. The cards are being very mixed up and mixed some more and then after mixing the cards a certain way over and over you would end up with a certain order of mixed cards saying the cards are now mixed up a certain way because certain specific steps were taken. Once the cards are mixed a certain way and how to get the cards mixed that way whenever wanted the unmixing part is considered and applied so how to unmix mixed cards that were mixed a certain way require a certain unmix moves to be applied which then unmixes cards that were mixed a certain way. So mix mix mix cards using specific turns flips cuts whichever until and certain amount of mixing actions have been applied and then a study of how to rearrange some mixed cards is conducted and applied. Two things are needed. One how to get the cards mixed a certain kind of mixed and two how to put those mixed cards in some arrangement or order and finish.
i used to do a cool card trick with a fresh pack of cards. the story goes a guy is on trial and bets the jury if he wins in a hand of poker he goes free.. each jury member gets to cut the deck so 12 cuts.. then you deal 1 card to the first 6 joury members then one to the guy on trial then one to the next 6... repeat the same thing .. then go in reverse. then forward again.. the guy on trial will always have 4 of a kind while each jury member has 3
This is so frustrating. No matter what I do I end up with 7 or 8 in a row all up or down. The two piles match but no alternating up and down. I am turning over the decks and doing it exactly as the video shows. One time I got all 10 down and the last few 7 or 8 in a row down and last 2 or 3 up.
Sounds like you’re definitely missing a step. The card have been perfectly alternating - so it would be very difficult to get so many in a row facing the same direction. I’d double check the tutorial again to see what step you are missing. Best of luck 🤞
@@MattMcGurk I am doing every step and the trick does work except that I get maybe 7 down and 3 up consecutively. I think the problem is I am not good with the riffle and the cards are mixing in bigger chunks than they should. If I was missing a step the 2 sets of 10 wouldn’t match. I tried 2 of your other tricks and they worked perfectly. Thanks for the great tricks.
I was having the same problem. I finally realized that when you split the deck in two before the riffle shuffle, that you turn over the half that was on the top of the deck. That fixed it for me. Good luck!
I think that’s actually impossible based on the fact that you’ve already perfectly the mixed the cards face up and face down. Sounds like your forgetting to flip the packet before the second shuffle
@@MattMcGurkYes this can happen! It will happen if at the end of a riffle a large clump of cards goes down at once from one hand. Then you've got all twenty cards on top alternating face up and down. Now as you distribute them to the two piles, one pile will be all face up and the other face down.
@MattMcGurk thank you for your help. I've tried loads of times, including the other shuffle, but something is going wrong. Do the first ten and last 6 cards have to be perfectly shuffled, or does that not matter either? Any tips most welcome. Thanks
Are you flipping the top half of the deck before the riffle/rosetta? Also don’t forget to turn the deck over then you pick it up after the second shuffle. As you deal the cards into two piles they should always be opposite. This is a good way to check while you practice.
Then you’re making the same mistake repeatedly. You just need to figure out where you’re going wrong. Don’t jump ahead and re-learn the effect from scratch.
I followed along with my cards (being a rather below par card magician) and it worked first time! I blew myself away!

So mix mix mix cards using specific turns flips cuts whichever until and certain amount of mixing actions have been applied and then a study of how to rearrange some mixed cards is conducted and applied. Two things are needed. One how to get the cards mixed a certain kind of mixed and two how to put those mixed cards in some arrangement or order and finish.
i used to do a cool card trick with a fresh pack of cards. the story goes a guy is on trial and bets the jury if he wins in a hand of poker he goes free..
each jury member gets to cut the deck so 12 cuts.. then you deal 1 card to the first 6 joury members then one to the guy on trial then one to the next 6... repeat the same thing .. then go in reverse. then forward again.. the guy on trial will always have 4 of a kind while each jury member has 3
If you do it with all four suits in A-K (not NDO) all jury members end up with two pair, while the guy on trial ends up with a 4 of a kind.
@@superdaven what is NDO? i do it with all 4 suits A-K and they jury always gets three of a kind
Will it work if you perfectly alternate every card in the deck?
yes
Didnt work
It just means you wen't wrong somewhere that's all.
super tour
WTF, indeed. Tried, works perfectly.
Good luck!
It worked only for riffle shuffle
Works with either option. 👍
It did not work 😢
You probably missed one step…. Do it again even more carefully!
First!
Your 2nd actually lol
@@darrenhadden1037 Ur wrong
Another ball buster matt. Takes a bit of practise but when it worked I was like a kid on Christmas Day !
That’s what it’s all about man! Now go and give someone else that feeling ❤️
Good news for you if it is really good I will scream
I finally got it work but for some reason all 10 cards in each pile were face down.
It doesn’t work unless you do a perfect riffle shuffle.
Shuffle doesn’t have to be perfect 👌🏻
Weird... It didn't work
How many times did it not work?
Hy please give me Deck 😢
This does not work all the time. I think it has to be a perfect riffle shuffle. Please correct me if I'm wrong
If that was true, then the rosetta shuffle would fail, as that is FAR from a perfect shuffle.
The shuffle doesn’t need to be perfect. Perhaps you just went wrong somewhere. Give it another go 👍
@MattMcGurk thank you for your help. I've tried loads of times, including the other shuffle, but something is going wrong. Do the first ten and last 6 cards have to be perfectly shuffled, or does that not matter either? Any tips most welcome. Thanks
@@privatenexus5764 must be my clumsiness!!
Are you flipping the top half of the deck before the riffle/rosetta? Also don’t forget to turn the deck over then you pick it up after the second shuffle. As you deal the cards into two piles they should always be opposite. This is a good way to check while you practice.
23 x in a row and fail every time WTF???
I failed😢 but good magic trick
Try again, I tried here and it worked perfectly
@@lucianoiafrateyea I tried 34 times I counted and I when I try the trick it doesn’t even come close
Then you’re making the same mistake repeatedly. You just need to figure out where you’re going wrong. Don’t jump ahead and re-learn the effect from scratch.
i cant believe my eyes
