Thank you Madhuji. Yes i somehow felt that he knew that if he didn't go ahead and try they would never get past that difficult ledge. But little dis he know that he was going in front of multiple enemy soldiers. Even then he didn't lose his presence of mind and killed 5 enemy soldiers before going down. Salute! To him and so many like him who fought so we could live. But i sometimes feel we didnt use all our advanced weapons against these guys otherwise we could've won the war in half the time.

yeah, that is true.... these are the real heros....thousands of people stand in front of movie stars like Sahrukh and Salman's house gate to just get a glimpse of them but no body pays their gratitude and homage to these real heros of the nation... many of the young generations won't be even knowing their names...i believe, Indian education system should add a special compulsory subject in school to remember these real heros.
Indian military is tough at core, but very sympathetic. For example it operates very sensitively in Kashmir to make minimal collateral damage to innocent people. But terrorists try to get advantage out of this sympathy.

I was Kid was in school when Kargil happened, my father(Ex Wing Commander, IAF) used to tell me great stories of Sir Batra, Sir Anuj many more...It was my dream to serve in Army but I could not get in I was rejected thrice, Now I am an Engineer, earn good, married but still that dream of being in defence has not died in me...I will teach same stories my father used to tell me to my kids and I hope atleast one of them will wear that uniform...And if that day comes I will consider I have achieved everything in my life.
"Shershah" literally translates to "King of the Lions". He killed 5 enemies in hand-to-hand combat even though he was injured. India has extremely strong foundation of war experiences at all fronts, be it the insurmountable Himalayas or the 50+ degree celcius of Thar desert in India's west or the Bay of Bengal in 1971 during creation of Bangladesh. If you, sir and madam, would come some day at one of our army campuses, you will be thrilled to listen to legends told by families living their! ☺
