I bought my 9052 when I was oyster farming. from freezing cold to boiling hot it has never missed a beat. constantly submersed in salt water, knocked about every day and dragged across barnacles yet still looks and performs the same as when I first took it out the box. I strongly recommend it because I KNOW it it is a workman's watch built to last :-)
G shock does a good job of preventing a direct drop on the steel back. This is huge in a shop when you may take it off and set it on an uneven surface to reach into a piece of equipment and risk knocking it onto a concrete floor.
I’ve got a 9052, my first G, and the 5600 is next on the list. As I’ve gotten more interested in watches in general and specifically Casios, I think the 52 would be far better without the seconds counters in the middle, and larger main and date windows.
I have the DW9052, I can't stand the bar meter. It's a really good watch as far as quality. I'm going to get the 5600 because I also like it. Right now I trade out between the DW 9052 and the Timex Ironman Y5K198 that I modified with a 1500 series Casio strap. It looks pretty cool. The more I look at the squares the more I like them. Of course the G Shocks are better quality than Timex but I like the Ironman because of nostalgia. I'm one of those that likes both. Great review, thank you.
Out of all of my watches (I have lots of Casios), my DW5600 is my favorite with the F-91W a close second. I have smaller wrists which makes it the best fitting G-Shock for me personally. It has everything I need and nothing that I don't, being purely functional without anything added just because it "looks cool." I appreciate the classic old school design, and I added a set of bull bars which look great on this watch. The buttons admittedly aren't the most comfortable to use but I don't use them very often anyway. I find it isn't terribly accurate for a digital watch but I can live with adjusting it every few months. I was thinking about getting a DW9052 but it seems more bulky and I don't think I would like the big plastic lugs sticking out as was mentioned in the review. If I do get another G-Shock it would probably be a variant of the DW5600 with atomic time.
I have the 5600, only thing I don’t like is the hard to press buttons, but ultimately I’d rather they be hard to press than get accidentally pressed all the time, which is a problem I’ve had with some other Casios
Yes, it does look better but I could do without the seconds counter. I would wear either one but I just bought the DW 9052 with the red lettering... no real gripes.
I bought one about a month ago and was wondering if I could use it for edc. How has yours held up such as the strap and battery life? I also have the GD-350 and a DW5600 and can't decide which one will last the longest.
I have both the DW5600 which used by NASA astronauts and the DW9052 which is used by the US Navy SEAL. I personally like the DW9052 better. The rubber strap if the DW9052 feels smoother and less irritable of the skin. Its thicker which means that its less prone to scratch. My DW5600 has been scratched which makes it less legible, but not the DW9052. The DW9052 is also more pliable which means you can fold the straps together and just slide it in your pocket should you need to remove them for whatever reason. The DW5600 has more stiff and less pliable straps, especially where the straps meet the watch's body.
I like the square for digital and the round case for analog versions. Nice comparison. I have a analog and digital tough solar combo with the ads800wh and really like it.
I just bought the 9052 in blue and yellow and I love it. It's the same watch my dad had for my entire childhood and still has. I almost bought the 5600 however I already have a Casio World Time in green and black plastic with a nylon strap. 10-year battery and I've had it maybe 6 years. It is phenomenal, lightweight, comfortable, and the same form factor as the 5600.
id say like this: dw 5600 is smaller, much cleaner display and bigger digits (still too small for the size of the watchface), which i find a big plus (i like the dw 5750 design more, btw, which uses the same module, just different bezel). finding the display on the dw 6600 the best from the classic g´s, btw. cons= quite hard to press and small pushers. i replaced the "reset"- pusher on mine with a usual pusher, which is longer. the watch is with the standard pushers more or less only useable as a "time looking instrument", not so much as a watch to change often between modes and adjusting timers, etc. (almost) impossible to use with gloves. the old dw 5600c had way better to access pushers. pushers on the dw 9052 are better, still... if compared to, for example, a gw 9400 or a pro-trek model like a prw 3000, they are bad and uncomfortable to press, feel a lot outdated. yet they are safe to not being pressed by accident. id say, the gw 9400 has the best pushers i know of, they are a dream. liking the light-pusher on the dw 9052. quite useful, if no auto-illuminator is in the module. id sum it up like this: if its about more elegant, more lightweight style and very mostly time-looking only, id choose the dw 5600. if about user comfort and often use of all modes, id choose the dw 9052.
That's funny. I have to admit though, I'm a child of the 80s and that's why a lot of these Casio watches appeal to me, I think. One of these days I'll get the calculator Casio watch for some 80s nostalgia.
I own both watched and prefer the dw5600 purely for the aesthetic of it however I prefer the dw9052 for the comfort factor and the convenient placement of the backlight button 🤷♂️
The 9052 has those plastic bars underneath because the watch lays flat. The curve in the 5600 is part of the g shock protection as well. Keeps it springy.
the mudman looks doable for smaller wrists. i normally walk right past the big tacky G Shocks because i didn't know they made smaller more adult looking G Shocks until i came across videos of them on here! i ran out to target to buy that square G and i love it!! im buying the gwm5610bc next week because it looks so sweet and you never have to mess with it because its solar and atomic! set it and forget it!! i was a watch snob for years and would only buy high end pieces. don't get me wrong i love them but im much happier buying these cheap watches that i don't worry about. earlier this year i was robbed at gunpoint for one of my Rolex's and it changed me, i hate wearing my nice watches now so i keep them locked up but i still want to wear watches so the answer was Casio, Seiko, Citizen
Sorry to hear about your Rolex robbery. That sucks. But I wear my Square G-Shock a lot and I love it. I'm getting a 5610 soon as well, I've hinted a bit so hopefully for Christmas but if not I'll just buy one after. I'm looking forward to the atomic time keeping and solar power cell. Thanks for watching!
thanks, even with wearing expensive watches you forget what your wearing after wearing them long enough. i noticed the guy looking at me in the mall but i did't think anything about it really other than he was creepy. caught me out in the parking lot before i got to my car and was like thats a nice watch, points gun at me and says do you want to die tonight? the feeling of helplessness still makes me sick to this day when i think about it. lazy people that want to take from the hard working people, im not rich, i saved for months put in so much overtime for that watch just for someone to take it for themselves. i hope it never happens to you man
Sorry to hear about that, some people suck. I wear my g shock not only because it’s bulletproof and dead on accurate, but because I don’t like drawing attention to myself, so a shiny watch day to day won’t work for me
I have a handful of Casios (gw5610, dw5600ms, dw5600bb, GA2100bb, GA2100, glx5600b, G9000). I can say they get more wrist time then my others to include my iwatch
The strap on the 5600 is attached to the case without a pivot in order to provide impact protection for the back if the watch ever happens to fall strap down. Because the strap cannot move out of the way, the strap will flex and absorb the impact rather than the back of the watch striking the ground. On the 9052, the strap CAN pivot out of the way, and the back of the watch CAN strike the ground, so the grey bumpers are added to absorb impact. It amounts to different ways of accomplishing the same goal (protect the back of the watch from impact). Some reviewers feel that the 9052 system fits people with small wrists better, because the pivoting strap can "hug" the wrist more closely. I own two of the 5600 variants (the GW5000 and the GMW-B5000), as well as the DW-6900m and all of them have the 5600 style non-pivoting strap connection. They all work fine on my 7 inch wrist.
Who need dual time ,, 3 time or world time ,, Iam wear 9052 ,, the timer auto re count and ,, light always on when you still pushing,, and have 10 second and 60 second animation 👍
Waiting for pods at Amazon, I have something to 'watch' while waiting. These two are the only two I own. I love them both. Something visually to watch is a nice distraction. I wear 9052 to work. 5600 for off days. Love the durability. Thanks for the review.
I have the 9052 and I think it's great. Only thing I would change is probably the unnecessary 10 second graph thing. Love the big buttons. Probably will pick up a square at some point in the future though out of curiosity
I have both. I do like the 9052 but you are right in my opinion. The 5600 is so much more practical. No graphs that take away useful space making it more legible. It's the shape of the 9052 that caught my eye. The dw6900 is one of my favorites too...again, the three eyes take up useful space. I'm with you on if I had to choose only one, I'd go with the 5600. Just glad I don't have to choose only one. Great video, thanks for sharing.
I have both of these watches and I love them both... however I do agree that the 9052 dial set up is not my preference....I also have the 5610 and that one is awesome...not to mention very much like the 5600
Great review. I guess if you want visual clarity, the 5600 is super clear to read. Also if you are wearing a shirt where the cuffs are buttoned, the slimmer 5600 would be more comfortable. However I have the 9052 and personally I like the bulk of the watch. To me it looks way more substantial when wearing a t shirt. Also I have pretty big wrists and the 5600 looks tiny on me. One thing I will say is that the 9052 tends to roll up on my wrist and I have to frequently adjust it so it lies flat. That can be mildly annoying
I gave the 9052 to a buddy and he loves it. He's an electrician and spends a lot of time on his boat and he thinks it's perfect. I like the 5600 a bit more, it tends to be more comfortable and it's fairly low profile, for a G-Shock. Both are great, as are pretty much all of the G-Shock watches, and luckily there's a lot of options to find the perfect one.
Well.. i used to have the G-Shock dw 9052 when i was a 11 y.o (2007).., and İ will buy that again next month.. i like the strap that makes me able to put in bag that has narrow compartment, the easy access light button, and its really durable and reliable, and indeed comfortable on my wrist..
Just purchased a DW 5600-E IV from Amazon a few days ago for $40. Love it, so far! I was looking for a simple yet durable watch that can take a beating. I think I've found it in this watch
I have a 6.5 inches wrist and In my opinion DW 9052 wears much better than DW 5600. Just purchased mine yesterday and I tried both at the local dealer. The issue I had with DW 5600 is the lug to lug distance. Although its roughly the same, the curved bracelet on DW 5600 makes it appear that lug to lug is bigger than it actually is so when I take a look at it from the top it kinda makes my arm look like a cross since the bracelet is protruding over the edges of my wrist and the fact that DW 5600 is more narrow than DW 9052 makes it even worse, literally like some sort of a thick rubber band on my wrist. In the other hand, neither the lugs or the bband on DW 9052 are sticking out, I guess due to the band design. Anyways, both watches are great and best value for money.
I had the same problem. I somehow got the idea to tighten the band all the way to the very last hole, ( not while wearing it of course) I let it sit in a drawer for 3 days. After 3 days I took it out and put it on to the most comfortable spot and the excess over hang was gone. It reshaped it and the overhang was gone. Give it a try, I think you will like it and maybe it will become your favorite. Thanks for sharing.
Another thing I forgot to add about this match is that I do prefer having the fifth button for the light, it’s a lot easier to access and the buttons are easier to push as well. Just my 2 cents.
Im thinking about these two g-shocks. I do not know wchich one I will choose for my summer-watch and first g-shock watch. I think it will be dw5600, because it looks better with ZULU strap than dw9052, and it has nice retro look. But both are good watches. Thanks for vid! (sorry for bad english)
Nice comparison video. As I have said before, I'm not a big G Shock fan, but I definitely prefer the look of the DW5600 to the 9052. Fits the classic Casio mold.
Haha I actually don't have a single Casio in my current collection. Haven't owned one since I was a kid. I gotta admit that your review of the A168W and the F91W almost made me buy one. Maybe in the near future I will add one.
I think you better off with dw5600 because you can change the cover and the wrist band with different color that match your style just like old swatch watch 😊
Just bought another 9052, the one with gold lettering. Already have the red letter one. Glad Wal-Mart had in stock. This Review was that good. My wallet thanks you!
Protip for the 9052, remove the bumpers (they are attached with small screws and it does not effect the water seal). Once you remove them, it minimizes the spacial imprint of the 9052 and gives it a very unique look.
If you can imagine it without them, it gives it the appearance of a skull and crossbones. The over all appearance is very much an example of second kind of cool. I very much want to buy the blacked out version of the 5600
@justbluefish : I recently bought DW5600 (square watch) for its low profile and uber utility score. Also it holds the legacy of original DW5000 the original G shock by Ibe. Sometimes classic looks more agile and sophisticated then polished plastic chunks! 😃
The original casio gsoch design was a great first. 5600. They had been all solders Gould used at the time. Wearing gloves of any sort, wearing a 5600. So, as the old saying goes. Necessity is the mother of invention. The 9052 was designed specifically to keep the soldiers in mind. While wearing gloves, can you navigate the different features. According to Google. The 9052 was only as old as 2012.
I'm looking for those watch that can be used for stop watch frequently (when running, cycling, etc), which one do you prefer? comparing how easy access of the button, how hard the button to be pushed, how clear enough/easy read of the lcd display, etc. Thanks :)
My choice would be the DW-5600. In terms of the screen for the 9052 or even the 5600, a good choice would be to use military time so a watch owner knows if it is morning or afternoon/evening. While the 9052 is less legible than the 5600, perhaps an interesting review would be to compare the 5600 to the DW-290, the Mission Impossible watch. It seems like they have slight differences, but legibility is the same but the 290 has more accessible buttons. Except, the 290 is not a G-Shock but is pretty close.
If the 9052 didn't have that seconds scale I think it would be a more legible watch. The numbers could be so much bigger like you said. Also the 9052 could use support wings like the GD-350 has which keeps the watch centered on your wrist. When I had my 9052 I noticed it would often sit towards the top of my wrist.
Thanks for watching Robert. The 9052 is a decent G-Shock but for my personal tastes I still prefer the square G's. I haven't tried a GD-350 yet, I'll have to check those out.
Just a quick one about the STW, on the 5600 I believe the time of day stays on the screen as the STW runs, even when it gets into hours, the 100th secs disappears, is this the same on the 9052? Thanks!
I have the DW9052 in the regular colorway and black and gold colorway. I'm waiting before I get the dw5610. It'll be aa negative display dw5610 with multiband 6 and tough solar. I love these watches. The engineers at Casio are true engineers. True engineers are creators that create something great, then make it affordable for everybody. I work with my hands a whole lot, and it's in water throughout the day. The dw9052 is a perfect daily driver lol. I don't have to worry about it getting damaged. And it keeps the correct time so well.
No one talks about the adjust button on the 5600 being so recessed you have to take it off your wrist to push it. Everyone says it’s a safety feature or something. You can’t adjust the timer on the watch without pushing the adjust button. It’s not like they don’t know it’s a problem because the solar atomic 5600 has the adjust button how it should be. The 5600 is a good beater watch don’t get me wrong it’s thin and light which is awesome for a gshock. I prefer the five button if i only could get one. The 6900,2310r, mudman 9000, g7900 are all watches i have owned or currently own. You really can’t go wrong with any gshock model to be honest.
Bought the DW5600 and returned it. The adjust "A" button was the deal breaker for me. I couldn't for the life of me push it in with even the finger nail, only with a pin or pencil. Tested 2 others at the store where I bought it and same problem, so ended up getting a refund. If you can't use all the functions without having to use other "tools", not much good it does. Was about to buy the DW9052 at that store only because the buttons were easier, but the price was jacked up $30 more, so I just said forget it. TImex Triathlon it is for me.
I just realize that dw9052 is a dw9050 with less features. The bezel looks the same. 9050 has an one piece nylon resin watch band like zulu watch band. The bars at the back are used to hold watch band.
Buttons are a lot better on the 9052 but I think I prefer the 5610. Though the negative is the protruding strap on the 5610. It would be awesome if it was profiled like the 9052.
The DW9052 design with the big buttons were intended for use with gloves.
As they're not expensive I would buy both.
I bought my 9052 when I was oyster farming. from freezing cold to boiling hot it has never missed a beat. constantly submersed in salt water, knocked about every day and dragged across barnacles yet still looks and performs the same as when I first took it out the box. They're both great G Shocks. Buy the one that you like the look of, and the one that fits. You can't go wrong.

Sold my 9052 for a 5600. Wore the 9052 for a couple years but found it just too bulky and sort of ugly. 5600 is classic and timeless!
bought the 9052. 15:25 is my only complaint with them. They appear to be a cheap plastic you'd take off, rather its designed this way...
ya it’s a lot of extra material and bulk, and it doesn’t look great.
I agree . The grey color make them look super cheap . I opted for the 9052gbx which makes those pieces black . Doesn't look as bad imo

I have the DW9052....I've had the watch for about six or seven years. The original battery still works, it's been very reliable & is my pick.
Jim Rylander it's definitely a quality G-Shock but I love the retro styling of the 5600. Either way good choice.

Thanks for watching
simple g-shocks are the best.
It's hard to beat a G Shock.
I know the DW5600 has been around the longest, but still my favorite.
5600 is still my favorite as well.
great video of 2 affordable classics, I own a DW5000SL a screwback brother of the DW5600 so I tend to prefer the square model to the 9052 :)
Thanks for watching and the comments I appreciate it.
I like the square for digital and the round case for analog versions. Nice comparison. I have a analog and digital tough solar combo with the ads800wh and really like it.
Ya the round case works well for the analog G-Shock models. Totally agree.
İ bought the 9052 in yesterday..and i think its perfect watch..i was fan of g-shock since 90's..by the way i live in turkey..thanks for the video 👍
You can’t go wrong with a g-shock. I like the squares personally. I like the functionality and durability of a g-shock.
The 9052 "bars" is called shock absorber and is important for protect the case back
I bought both of these watches on clearance at Target. $25 for the 5600 & $15 for the 9052. A helluva deal for 2 G’s!
They do that because the batteries are weak from people holding them and pressing all the buttons every day
Also, people touch them after using the bathroom or picking their nose (no hand washing)
Entertain Me -For that price, I’ll replace the batteries if I have too. They’re both running fine still.

Dw9052 all day!!
5600 for me
Super tough choice between the 2 . I chose the better looking 9052gbx-1a9cr black and gold option .
How is it holding up?
@@coleroberts1341 ended up trying both. Didn't like either of them lol . Now have a gbd800uc in army green .
They both look great.
Thanks for watching Barry.
Who need dual time ,, 3 time or world time ,, Iam wear 9052 ,, the timer auto re count and ,, light always on when you still pushing,, and have 10 second and 60 second animation 👍
I own 3 G Shocks atm: 9052, 5600BB and the 6900.
The graph is pretty much in the way of leaving space for more legible numbers. It's seems to be eye candy that I don't need.
I have both.
They both have awfully small numerals for such big watches. But for the price they are still great.
I have DW9052 navy blue i love it, its beautiful and fun to wear!
DW5600 is solid, but i dont think its so fun to wear although i like it too.
I have both but honestly I prefer the Dow 5600 is a little bit more wearable
My 9052 came in a a dancy tic g shock can with a pretty cool cool bottle opener G-Sbock led key chain flashlight
I've seen some retail packages like that at department stores, but whenever I order online I usually get the cardboard box.
I just bought a 9052 today for $15 at Walmart. It didn't have a box and came with a nylon strap instead of a resin one.
9052 all day
Kudos for the NUTNFANCY reference!
TNP!
Both very nice watches
Thanks for watching.
Just purchased a DW 5600-E IV from Amazon a few days ago for $40. Love it, so far! I was looking for a simple yet durable watch that can take a beating. I think I've found it in this watch
Between the 5600 and the 9053 i'll take the 6900.It's my all time favorite G.
The 5600 is my favorite but I've been thinking about getting a 5610 with Solar charging.
I have a 5600 and love it for its simplicity. But my fav as far as the g-shock digitals are the 6900’s
I don’t have a 6900. I should pick one of those up.
Yes you should. I highly recommend it.
They're both nice, affordable, and have basically the same features... but I like the 5600 better personally. Either way you can't go wrong.
I have both. I like the design of the 5600, but love having a 5th button for the light. So at best I'm torn, lol.
Square design is too boring. I'd pick 9052
Nice comparison video. As I have said before, I'm not a big G Shock fan, but I definitely prefer the look of the DW5600 to the 9052. Fits the classic Casio mold.
You don't own any gshock than? You're gonna come to the Casio dark side and get a dw5600 soon, it's my mission now!
Haha I actually don't have a single Casio in my current collection. Haven't owned one since I was a kid. I gotta admit that your review of the A168W and the F91W almost made me buy one. Maybe in the near future I will add one.
You should give one a try. They're not super high quality but it's still a cheap thrill.
Great video ... Great tool watch ... I would not go to the gym without mine.
Took mine to the gun range yesterday. That's like the gym right?
Absolutely lol
It's exercise. Exercising the 2nd amendment haha. Without all that sore muscle stuff. I think I like the way this is working out.
No comparison ... I would rather be on the gun range any day of the week ...
I think you better off with dw5600 because you can change the cover and the wrist band with different color that match your style just like old swatch watch 😊
Dw 9052 is my first G-Shock. super affordable.
9052 rocks all the way. More to instrument. Visual countdown dial, button glove accessible, and floating module. 😊
Thanks for watching enjoy your Gshock. It’s definitely excellent.
Thanks :)
I gave the 9052:to a buddy and kept the 5600 if that’s any indication to which I prefer. But for the purposes you mentioned both work well.
i have them both
My choice would be the DW-5600.
Thanks!
I've never run the stopwatch for over an hour but I think you're correct. Thanks for watching.
I bought both the DW5600E and the DW9052 at Target for $50 a piece and I just bought a GW7900 solar at Sams Club for $100
Great pickups, enjoy them.
Watched this on June 3 2018. Illuminati
It's some sort of sign. A sign of what? I have no idea, haha.

Both of these watches are amazing. Actually, any G-shock is awesome.
I have both are my favorite fantastic video
DW9052 looks too plasticy with those gray knobs.
I went with the dw 9052 but I still want a dw 5600 as well
The product box isn't suppose to be special LOL It's the watch that matters!!
Boxes need love too.
DW5600 looked ugly the other one looks cool and casual
Like your video
Got a White 5600! Love it! 🤍🤍🤍
I own the 9052 and I love it
Thanks for watching.
Dois relógios muito usados por militares.
Show!
Thanks for watching.
I have to dw9052
Thanks for watching.
JustBlueFish Watch Reviews what age is the dw9052?
I have the DW9052 in the regular colorway and black and gold colorway. I'm waiting before I get the dw5610. It'll be aa negative display dw5610 with multiband 6 and tough solar. I love these watches. The engineers at Casio are true engineers. True engineers are creators that create something great, then make it affordable for everybody. I work with my hands a whole lot, and it's in water throughout the day. The dw9052 is a perfect daily driver lol. I don't have to worry about it getting damaged. And it keeps the correct time so well.
The dedicated light button takes the cake.
8 minutes for the egg 😉
Thanks for watching buddy!
Which one has better sound?
I don't know.
TImex Triathlon it is for me.
i like the looks of the 9052 better, its bigger and fancier and i like the countdown bar and dial. the 5600 looks too plain.
I like my g shock with a little more presence and sexiness but i do own the 5600. The DW 9052 is just not attractive. Nice vid
I have both and enjoy both, but when I’m camping or out in the woods, I always bring the 9052
