I'm Australian and remember when Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey lost their lives too well. Unfortunately the incident was overshadowed by the start of the pandemic here so it probably didn't get the attention they deserved. There's a few different initiatives that we're hoping will come from this horrific incident that while they won't save Hannah and the Clarke children, will hopefully save others in the future. This case always weirds me out with how the killer enjoyed calling the first victims mom and her sister.. they showed SO MUCH PATIENCE omg. Not everyone would have put up with that...
I just wrote in the general comments about this but John E. Douglas, former FBI profiler wrote a book titled When a Killer Calls about this case. He was heavily involved and the book was really great. I remember seeing this case on Unsolved Mysteries or something like that back in the day and it always stuck with me, too. The calls and last will and testament.. that family has more strength than I have in my pinky.

i really appreciate anytime a domestic violence case is covered you always follow up with tips on how to spot an abuser and info on how to get out. my mother lost her life to a dv situation so hearing a popular crime channel speak about it in a way where the victim isn’t demonized it’s very refreshing
Why on earth should someone with a domestic violence order have access to their children? This case is so sad and horrific. Wow, I need a break to just sit and process this. That poor mother, she was so strong. I wish her children had survived but I'm glad that they're together with her.
This is a very very common reality in many countries. We do not have effective social systems in place to handle DV and child abuse. I feel until we treat domestic abusers as seriously as sexual abusers and have a registry, this will never stop.
Our Australian's f****d up family court system, forcing us to force our children to be subjected to their abusers because no matter how horrific the damage towards their children and their children's other parent, how much proof of all of this and constant violations of protection orders (our case is 147 times), father's still have rights regardless and deserve to have a "meaningful relationship with both parents". It's horrific and considering all the variables, that the children are in imminent danger, constantly in their care, as long as they're given the green light to be in their children's lives, which is a complete contradiction of the significant domestic violence order that forbids ANY sort of contact with the children and I, and other members of the family he's caused harm or threatened to. It's because of this channel that I've idenified and am currently working on getting away from a psychopath in my life. My mom's fiance of 15+ years is exactly like EWU describes Rowan in this video (he was charming at first and even really cool, but as soon as we moved in with him, that all changed.) I have schitzophrenia and borderline MPD or DID (my doctors aren't even sure which one, so I don't either xD), so I actually believed him when he said I was just acting 'nuts' or 'immature' or even 'ungrateful' just because he pays for the majourity of the bills around here. That being said, my ma has health problems that got worse because of the stress he put her through. And whenever he offered to bring her to the hospital, he acts as if he's inconvienced even though my mom was support all through his cancer chemo. It is horrifying to hear that the Police did nothing after he snatched their daughter and kept her for days. That is not the behaviour of a loving father. Imagine how frightening that must have been for the child. A massive red flag. He was literally putting two fingers up to the authorities as, in, I am her father, and because I am, you can't do anything about it.
Retired FBI Profiler, John E. Douglas, wrote a really great book titled When A killer Calls about the Smith/Helmick case. He was not only involved in the case, he elicited the “Bad Larry” comment which was the closest they came to a confession. It’s a great read with an inside perspective. Also, the Smith family are incredible people.. their strength is astounding.

I'm an Aussie, and the Hannah Clarke case was something straight out of a horror movie, especially in Australia 😣 What else is so sickening is the Australian justice system, knowing how dangerous he was, he was still allowed to take her children. This, along with many perpetrators are allowed to walk free from jail which is when so many of these horrible events happen, the justice system is a joke.
I guess Australia is about rehabilitation. Just like Nordic countries. It's a good and a bad thing. Some people don't deserve a second chance, but a 500 year sentence isn't always fair either like they do it so casually in the USA lol
Like Brett Peter Cowan, the man who kidnapped and murdered Daniel Morcombe. He’d raped two young boys before Daniel, one in 1987 and the other in 1993. He was sentenced to two years jail and only served one year for the first rape and sentenced to seven years and served only three and a half for the second. The second boy had injuries so bad the police thought he’d been hit by a car. If Cowan had been locked up and never released after the first rape then the second boys life would have been a lot different and Daniel would still be alive today. Our justice system is fucked up. It doesn’t make sense. Pedophile Michael Guider, who killed nine year old Samantha Knight in 1986, was released from prison in 2019 and had been jailed for sixty, count that, SIXTY child sex abuse charges. And he was fucking let out. How? Just how?
The guy who thought "maybe I can catch the guy by scanning the paper for dents" is an absolute genius, that was some anime detective level iq. Also the guy who invented the machine, I don't know why he did, but his invention basically solved the case.
its an incredible technique. i read once that they can sometimes recover writing through seven pages. plus we now have touch DNA technology that could probably recover DNA just from a letter that had been handled by the guy (at least if it were sealed).

The 1985 investigators kicked @$$! They recorded and traced his phone calls and analyzed the victim letter and worked to find him in less than a month. Their profiling was spot on too
The second story tore me apart. That is a horrible horrible way to go out. I can’t imagine the thoughts of the children in their last minutes. The wife tried so hard to get help and make the police aware. This is so sad.
I remember Shari’s case from Forensic Files. During the trial, the prosecutor said, “Shari had the courage to use this pen to write her last will. Now (talking to the jury), do you have the courage to use this to sign for the death penalty?” My hair went up. That was a magnum opus by the prosecutor.
God what makes me so so mad is how I’m the second story about the rugby player, people ALWAYS say “oh if you see any warning signs/red flags etc. tell the police or someone to help” but whenever people DO speak up and alert authorities they don’t do ANYTHING about it?! The mom should know best and with his abusive past and the obvious weird red flags and things he was doing and got reported should’ve been enough at least for a little investigating more into it or just something. People report things all the time. And sometimes it may just be nothing but there’s been a lot of cases where the red flags were reported and nothing done to prevent what ends up happening. Which is the main goal. Prevention of this stuff🤦🏼♂️

I love the dedication and care put into these videos and the care you put into summarising the warning signs of potential danger like the red flags in the second story. As an Australian hearing the news about what happened to Hannah and her family shocked everyone and I remember everyone wanting reform in her memory. Also, if you cover an Australian story again, Brisbane is pronounced as 'Bris-bin' here same with Sydney as 'Sid-knee' and Melbourne as 'Mel-bin' - Aussies are kinda weird.

I live in PA. I have a legal custody order. My ex refused to return our daughter at end of visit. L.E. advised “regardless of custody order they wouldn’t get involved unless there was a threat of child’s life. It was a civil matter.” Custody laws vary state to state. It’s crucial to know laws.
I was married to an abuser for 6yrs, the only good thing that came out of those years was my daughter, I was trying so hard to keep my family together, little did i know, that i would see my daughter so much happier the moment we began our lives on our own without him. i went through hell with my divorce 5 years ago, i can understand the fear Hannah went through, it is heartbreaking. if you are in an abusive relationship and you are reading this, PLEASE GET OUT, seek help, there is no changing, or bettering themselves , don't believe the '' I will never do it again'' BS, love is not suppose to hurt. God bless you and I hope you get the strength through prayer that you need to end your suffering and begging to live your life to the fullest, God has a plan for you, you just have to follow what he is showing you.
29:06 Australian here dealing with a sister who is psychotic, on meth and using her children to manipulate and control their fathers (multiple), assaulting the kids fathers and us (her direct family) when confronting her. Australian family courts are absolute garbage. She has no stable housing, yet they grant her full custody. The Australian police and legal system has absolutely no care for families and children in domestic situations, and those three children and their mother that burned could have been saved. I hope desperately that my sisters family don't end up on this channel one day.

Hopelessly I hear you describe the man who has destroyed my life. I have no “home” to run to anymore and I have four innocent children. The shame overwhelms my heart. I’m hollow now. “A shell” my best friend repeats to me when she stops by to bring me back to life as often as possible. I want nothing more than for him to recognize the evil inside of him and banish it from our lives forever. And I know it will never ever happen. My whole life is wasted now. What’s the point
Just leave. It takes the average woman many times to actually leave their abusive relationship. Start now and don't give up. Why should you keep being unhappy and exposing your children to trauma?
please don't try suicide. You have children, if you will be gone, imagine, what will happen to them? what will thye have? try to find power in your children, in willing to protect them and make their lives better. Fight for them
Get out of that relationship STAT. Find a battered women's shelter, and start making an escape plan. Don't give that monster the satisfaction of suicide or resigning to his abuse. Your kids need their momma and you need to leave before it becomes impossible. If not for your sake, then do it for them. I know it's scary but it's better than ending up a statistic. I never thought I'd see a case that happened close to me on this page. Hanna's case was horrific. It happened less than ten minutes from me. The entire of Australia was horrified. Rowan's son from a previous relationship is currently suing Hannah's parents for a share of the money they got because he has been so affected by it all that he can't work.
It's hard to forget, it feels like it just happened the other day, we have a serious issue with the domestic violence and men killing women here in Australia. Those poor babies and thier mother didn't deserve such a horrible death 💔

I really do appreciate the PSAs that you make after each case. It's one thing to recap the events that happened, but to take it one step further to educate/help people in case they're ever--god forbid--in a similar situation shows that you truly care about your audience and the cases that you speak about.
S2: I remember when this story came out, it was so horrendous. I concur that Australia's, in my case, West Australia's, domestic violence laws are bullshit!!! After the first time I was assaulted, I went to the local court to get a VRO, only to get knocked back from this magistrate who denied t because I said 'my son', not 'our son'!!! It didtnt matter that he was actually walking away from me after bring MY son back over 4 hours late from an access visit. When it looked like he was actually going to do this, after threatening me many MANY times he would, I lost my shit and mumma bear kicked in and I attacked this 6ft6 POS to get my son. It also didnt matter that my ex had actually been to court with a full trial of attempted murder of his own father who had actually shot one of his brothers in the head some months before hand. I went into the city the next day and got the VRO, so what does that tell you about our domestic violence crap!!!! I spent the next 10 years in and out of family court. The only thing I got from that was if you lied, like he did, you got away with everything. If you told the truth like I did, you got nothing!!! What he put me through and MY son, was bullshit. He never cared about him, never wanted to have him for visits unless he got a new gf. So when I said no, you see him on your own, not show interest and play happy father only when you have a partner. Like every narcissist, he did NOT like that I had to nerve to tell him no. The first time we went to court, I found out it wasnt over him getting visitation, ohhh nooo, he wanted to take him from me altogether....and years of shit began!!! His father was found guilty of grievous bodily harm to shooting in the head his 18yo son, who survived...and did NO time in jail...can you believe that!!!!! He wasnt even fined for having multiple firearms in the house which was at the time a minimum fine of $2000 or minimum 6 months in jail...he got neither. Side note: I just remembered asking the judge to stop him from smoking in the car when MY son was in it only to be told I was being 'petty' and to 'stop my nonsense'.....well, guess what, a few years later a law was made your NOT allowed to smoke when you have kids in the car............... yup, I still shake my head at that one. Many times the police really do try and help, but its the courts that f*ck you up at every time you try and get things sorted. Im still angry because it still continues, and what happened to this poor woman and her babies should never of happened!!!

Videos like these, saved me. When my ex had beaten me down, manipulated, lied, taunted, shamed me, I started doing Google searches. I would Google things like "is it wrong to leave a relationship when your partner needs mental health support" or "why is he so mean but says I'm the cold one", I even Google things like "am I as crazy as he says I am?" or "does his anxiety make him cruel". I did this because I didn't want to tell anyone how bad things were, I've always avoided complaining about relationships because I don't want to mislead anyone, like I was the person who would say "he did this horrible thing but I provoked him". It's like saying he hit me but it was my fault. The more I asked things, the more I saw the pattern of a narcissist, so I started talking, at first a few coworkers, then my sisters and friends. The more I talked the more I realized that this was not healthy, even though he would tell to grow up, that I acted like I was in high school, whenever he would taunt me or call me names. He said that words are just words. I would try to never say anything with the intention of hurting someone, I believe that you shouldn't say anything that you may regret, once said you can't take it back. I was just so hurt and confused, I eventually felt like I blew an emotional fuse. One day he was freaking out at me then going from yelling, calling me names and taunting me about my insecurities; to having panic attacks and cowering in a corner. I'd seen it so many times before, I knrw how it went- if I tried to go to him to hold him or comfort him, he would flip out and tell me to f off; but if I didn't go to him, I was cold hearted monster, but with more creative name calling. Then one time it was like I felt a switch turn off, no emotion, his crying and yelling and anger and hate just didn't affect me, it was kinda like getting the "402 not found" message on your web browser. I was horrified, I didn't like it. I found myself trying to remember how I would have felt or acted normally, but I felt like he was right, I was a cold hearted bitch. Eventually I realized that was just the brains way of protecting us, my emotions were spiraling and i blamed myself. The lack of emotion ended up helping me get through tht time, i had him move out and I was trying to break things off for good but let him sucker me. I paid his bills for over a year after he moved out!! And that whole time he would still berate me for not paying on time (I was then living alone with my own bills,and rent is so high, I barely scraped by to start with). In the end I had to get a no contact order, just so he'd stop calling and texting and coming around my place- when he had moved out it was only 5 blocks away from me). One time I was taking him groceries and he grabbed me by the throat with one hand, he squeezed as he pushed me back towards the balcony. He lived on the 10th floor. After that I would never be alone with him, he would ask me to go for a drive with him, or visit him. At one point he picked up on it and made ridiculed me for only meeting him in public places, in that "aww, are you afraid of me?" It was chilling. I'm glad that I didn't end up like poor Hannah, I got out with only emotional trauma and scars. I feel that the whole experience left me with a clearer idea of who I am and the importance of setting and maintaining boundaries. I'm so sorry I wrote so much! Sometimes just talking or posting to anyone is cathartic. Just saying things aloud or writing them, helps to process and to remember. Love to all 💜
I went through a similar experience, I learned he was narcissist and possible psychopath. The book I'm reading Psychopath Free has helped me so much! Glad you got away and strong enough to realize and do so! Too many don't get the same positive result.

I live in Brisbane not to far from Hannah Clarke. This case absolutely destroyed me, not just me but ALL of Australia. Hannah was beyond brave, she didn't know that Rowan had stabbed himself and committed suicide and she hung on to make sure she could give the police EVERYTHING they would need to put him away forever. How could a person ever bring themselves to kill their own children? Much less burn then alive in their little car seats. I kind of wish I hadn’t even learned about this. I’ve seen some messed up stuff and heard some rough stories, but this one is hitting me really hard.
No 14yo is the "girlfriend" of an adult, she's a victim. Her participation in the torture may have been more self-preservation than actual willingness as well.

men who go after (significantly) younger women usually do so specifically because they don't have the experience to see the warnings signs that women their own age do, leading to them rejecting them. they see younger women as easier to manipulate, abuse and generally take advantage of.
Thank you for distinguishing that psychosis doesn't make someone a murderer. I suffer from psychosis. And people hear that diagnosis and assume you can't be psychotic and still be a good human. Psychosis is not always an indication of violence or homicidal tendencies. Psychosis is characterized by hallucinations and paranoia, usually combined with other mental illnesses that have varying outward displaying symptoms. Psychosis alone does not signify an evil or harmful individual. Thank you for making that distinction.
The second story really hit. I was very lucky to got where I am but from watching these videos im a bit worried 💀 anyhow I just got out of an abusive relationship. My ex would manipulate me and push everything she could onto me and break me down. She made me feel as if it were my job to carry her weight and when ever I questioned anything bad she did, she would deminish me and convince me I was stupid for even thinking about it. For context, she was a shoplifter, liar, and manipulator. I convinced myself that she was all I deserved and that I would never end up finding someone better but here and there I would try to explain to her why she needed to stop stealing and hurting herself. She just shrugged it off and told me I was being stupid to support a corporation over her. Every day I was with her my mental health decayed until at night ide physically harm myself and even plot suicide. Im really glad I somehow woke up... maybe it was something in the back of my mind but I finally told her off and left. I just hope shes not a psychopath... otherwise this may be one of the last comments I ever write 💀
I also learned about narcissists and gaslighting the hard way. It broke me too. I feel like I'm only now getting to know myself, like I had to crumble down to my foundation before I could build myself up. It gets better, I feel I learned a valuable lesson that will make me see people differently

You should do the case of Junko Furuta, also known as "44 days in hell" that should deffently be here since its one of the worst cases of rape and torture of a minor in human history. No matter what story I come across hers will always be the most traumatizing and disgusting one. Rip

I have to mention the fact that she “didn’t want an open casket”. I have never understood open casket funerals… when I’m gone I absolutely do not want my friends/family to see my dead body. I want them to remember me alive, keep them good memories… not the memory of a fake painted lifeless corpse.
I swear to god, if anyone kidnapped a loved one of mine I would devote every possible second to tracking them down myself to get to the kidnapper first. I would make sure their last moments on this planet were pure hell. I can't comprehend being the parents of the first victim. That's absolutely heart-wrenching. My ex used to call me names say that when I was upset that I shouldn't be upset I was crazy and he called me thunder thighs alot ! I was a damn size 3 !! Smh when I started taking up for myself after being emotionally abused for so long at this point he got completely enraged!! When he would call me thinder thighs one of his favorite mean comments to me I started say " oh yeah I have thunder thighs that's OK I can always lose weight but your head will always be that big!! " yeah he didn't like that so he broke my wrist smh

I love this channel but not every killer is a psychopath or mentally ill. Some are just bad people who do bad shit. A domestic abuser isn’t always narcissistic or bpd or apd. They’re just a person who is abusive

While thats true, they have someone who's a trained professional in psychiatry on their team so I am significantly more inclined to believe them. And it's not giving them an excuse either. It's just part of the reason and case. That and most of these people get seen by one or more psychologists during their trials who diagnose them with things so it's not like the channel is doing it on their own.
I think its more of a way to make it look like normal people wouldn't do these things. So they give them illnesses or assign them disorders. A way of separating the public from these evil people. Everyone has to be classified as something or other these days. Even kids in school who aren't smart are almost always said to have ADD lol. We all know there are some bad people living among us who are capable of the cruelest things, without a disorder.

As a domestic violence survivor I want to thank you for including information about Domestic Violence and resources. Most women don't realize if you get murdered it's most likely your husband, boyfriend or domestic partner. It is almost always proceeded by abuse. I was a strong, smart, fiercely independent woman. I was the last person who yu would ever think would be in an abusive relationship. Dispite escalating violence and multiple calls to the police, it took my abuser almost killing me for me to finaly leave. If it wasn't for a nighboor calling he police I'd likely be dead.
This is exactly why I want to remain single for the rest of my life now. Hannah and her children's story just steals it for me. It's like I trust no one because of watching so much true crying but I wouldn't even know the dangers if it wasn't for true crime and stories told
I'm Australian and remember when Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey lost their lives too well. Unfortunately the incident was overshadowed by the start of the pandemic here so it probably didn't get the attention they deserved. There's a few different initiatives that we're hoping will come from this horrific incident that while they won't save Hannah and the Clarke children, will hopefully save others in the future.

I just wrote in the general comments about this but John E. Douglas, former FBI profiler wrote a book titled When a Killer Calls about this case. He was heavily involved and the book was really great. I remember seeing this case on Unsolved Mysteries or something like that back in the day and it always stuck with me, too. The calls and last will and testament.. that family has more strength than I have in my pinky.

This is a very very common reality in many countries. We do not have effective social systems in place to handle DV and child abuse. I feel until we treat domestic abusers as seriously as sexual abusers and have a registry, this will never stop.
Our Australian's f****d up family court system, forcing us to force our children to be subjected to their abusers because no matter how horrific the damage towards their children and their children's other parent, how much proof of all of this and constant violations of protection orders (our case is 147 times), father's still have rights regardless and deserve to have a "meaningful relationship with both parents". It's horrific and considering all the variables, that the children are in imminent danger, constantly in their care, as long as they're given the green light to be in their children's lives, which is a complete contradiction of the significant domestic violence order that forbids ANY sort of contact with the children and I, and other members of the family he's caused harm or threatened to. Our laws suck. Family Law Court Trump's Criminal Law.
It's because of this channel that I've idenified and am currently working on getting away from a psychopath in my life. My mom's fiance of 15+ years is exactly like EWU describes Rowan in this video (he was charming at first and even really cool, but as soon as we moved in with him, that all changed.)
I have schitzophrenia and borderline MPD or DID (my doctors aren't even sure which one, so I don't either xD), so I actually believed him when he said I was just acting 'nuts' or 'immature' or even 'ungrateful' just because he pays for the majourity of the bills around here. That being said, my ma has health problems that got worse because of the stress he put her through. And whenever he offered to bring her to the hospital, he acts as if he's inconvienced even though my mom was support all through his cancer chemo.

It is horrifying to hear that the Police did nothing after he snatched their daughter and kept her for days. That is not the behaviour of a loving father. Imagine how frightening that must have been for the child. A massive red flag. He was literally putting two fingers up to the authorities as, in, I am her father, and because I am, you can't do anything about it.
Retired FBI Profiler, John E. Douglas, wrote a really great book titled When A killer Calls about the Smith/Helmick case. He was not only involved in the case, he elicited the “Bad Larry” comment which was the closest they came to a confession. It’s a great read with an inside perspective.
Also, the Smith family are incredible people.. their strength is astounding.

Like Brett Peter Cowan, the man who kidnapped and murdered Daniel Morcombe. He’d raped two young boys before Daniel, one in 1987 and the other in 1993. He was sentenced to two years jail and only served one year for the first rape and sentenced to seven years and served only three and a half for the second. The second boy had injuries so bad the police thought he’d been hit by a car. If Cowan had been locked up and never released after the first rape then the second boys life would have been a lot different and Daniel would still be alive today. Our justice system is fucked up. It doesn’t make sense.
Pedophile Michael Guider, who killed nine year old Samantha Knight in 1986, was released from prison in 2019 and had been jailed for sixty, count that, SIXTY child sex abuse charges. And he was fucking let out. How? Just how?

its an incredible technique. i read once that they can sometimes recover writing through seven pages. plus we now have touch DNA technology that could probably recover DNA just from a letter that had been handled by the guy (at least if it were sealed).

The 1985 investigators kicked @$$! They recorded and traced his phone calls and analyzed the victim letter and worked to find him in less than a month. Their profiling was spot on too

The second story tore me apart. That is a horrible horrible way to go out. I can’t imagine the thoughts of the children in their last minutes. The wife tried so hard to get help and make the police aware. This is so sad.
I remember Shari’s case from Forensic Files. During the trial, the prosecutor said, “Shari had the courage to use this pen to write her last will. Now (talking to the jury), do you have the courage to use this to sign for the death penalty?” My hair went up. That was a magnum opus by the prosecutor.
God what makes me so so mad is how I’m the second story about the rugby player, people ALWAYS say “oh if you see any warning signs/red flags etc. tell the police or someone to help” but whenever people DO speak up and alert authorities they don’t do ANYTHING about it?! The mom should know best and with his abusive past and the obvious weird red flags and things he was doing and got reported should’ve been enough at least for a little investigating more into it or just something. People report things all the time. And sometimes it may just be nothing but there’s been a lot of cases where the red flags were reported and nothing done to prevent what ends up happening. Which is the main goal. Prevention of this stuff🤦🏼♂️

I live in PA. I have a legal custody order. My ex refused to return our daughter at end of visit. L.E. advised “regardless of custody order they wouldn’t get involved unless there was a threat of child’s life. It was a civil matter.” Custody laws vary state to state. It’s crucial to know laws.
Same here in KY, they won't do anything and the best you can do is file a motion to hold them in contempt of court....which does nothing. Been there

29:06 Australian here dealing with a sister who is psychotic, on meth and using her children to manipulate and control their fathers (multiple), assaulting the kids fathers and us (her direct family) when confronting her. Australian family courts are absolute garbage. She has no stable housing, yet they grant her full custody. The Australian police and legal system has absolutely no care for families and children in domestic situations, and those three children and their mother that burned could have been saved.
I hope desperately that my sisters family don't end up on this channel one day.

Hopelessly I hear you describe the man who has destroyed my life. I have no “home” to run to anymore and I have four innocent children. The shame overwhelms my heart. I’m hollow now. “A shell” my best friend repeats to me when she stops by to bring me back to life as often as possible. I want nothing more than for him to recognize the evil inside of him and banish it from our lives forever. And I know it will never ever happen. My whole life is wasted now. What’s the point
Just leave. It takes the average woman many times to actually leave their abusive relationship. Start now and don't give up. Why should you keep being unhappy and exposing your children to trauma?

I never thought I'd see a case that happened close to me on this page. Hanna's case was horrific. It happened less than ten minutes from me. The entire of Australia was horrified. Rowan's son from a previous relationship is currently suing Hannah's parents for a share of the money they got because he has been so affected by it all that he can't work.

It's one thing to recap the events that happened, but to take it one step further to educate/help people in case they're ever--god forbid--in a similar situation shows that you truly care about your audience and the cases that you speak about.
S2: I remember when this story came out, it was so horrendous. I concur that Australia's, in my case, West Australia's, domestic violence laws are bullshit!!! After the first time I was assaulted, I went to the local court to get a VRO, only to get knocked back from this magistrate who denied t because I said 'my son', not 'our son'!!! It didtnt matter that he was actually walking away from me after bring MY son back over 4 hours late from an access visit. When it looked like he was actually going to do this, after threatening me many MANY times he would, I lost my shit and mumma bear kicked in and I attacked this 6ft6 POS to get my son. It also didnt matter that my ex had actually been to court with a full trial of attempted murder of his own father who had actually shot one of his brothers in the head some months before hand. I went into the city the next day and got the VRO, so what does that tell you about our domestic violence crap!!!! I spent the next 10 years in and out of family court. The only thing I got from that was if you lied, like he did, you got away with everything. If you told the truth like I did, you got nothing!!! What he put me through and MY son, was bullshit. He never cared about him, never wanted to have him for visits unless he got a new gf. So when I said no, you see him on your own, not show interest and play happy father only when you have a partner. Like every narcissist, he did NOT like that I had to nerve to tell him no. The first time we went to court, I found out it wasnt over him getting visitation, ohhh nooo, he wanted to take him from me altogether....and years of shit began!!!
His father was found guilty of grievous bodily harm to shooting in the head his 18yo son, who survived...and did NO time in jail...can you believe that!!!!! He wasnt even fined for having multiple firearms in the house which was at the time a minimum fine of $2000 or minimum 6 months in jail...he got neither.
Side note: I just remembered asking the judge to stop him from smoking in the car when MY son was in it only to be told I was being 'petty' and to 'stop my nonsense'.....well, guess what, a few years later a law was made your NOT allowed to smoke when you have kids in the car............... yup, I still shake my head at that one. Many times the police really do try and help, but its the courts that f*ck you up at every time you try and get things sorted. Im still angry because it still continues, and what happened to this poor woman and her babies should never of happened!!!

Videos like these, saved me. When my ex had beaten me down, manipulated, lied, taunted, shamed me, I started doing Google searches. I would Google things like "is it wrong to leave a relationship when your partner needs mental health support" or "why is he so mean but says I'm the cold one", I even Google things like "am I as crazy as he says I am?" or "does his anxiety make him cruel". I did this because I didn't want to tell anyone how bad things were, I've always avoided complaining about relationships because I don't want to mislead anyone, like I was the person who would say "he did this horrible thing but I provoked him". It's like saying he hit me but it was my fault.
The more I asked things, the more I saw the pattern of a narcissist, so I started talking, at first a few coworkers, then my sisters and friends. The more I talked the more I realized that this was not healthy, even though he would tell to grow up, that I acted like I was in high school, whenever he would taunt me or call me names. He said that words are just words. I would try to never say anything with the intention of hurting someone, I believe that you shouldn't say anything that you may regret, once said you can't take it back. I was just so hurt and confused, I eventually felt like I blew an emotional fuse. One day he was freaking out at me then going from yelling, calling me names and taunting me about my insecurities; to having panic attacks and cowering in a corner. I'd seen it so many times before, I knrw how it went- if I tried to go to him to hold him or comfort him, he would flip out and tell me to f off; but if I didn't go to him, I was cold hearted monster, but with more creative name calling. Then one time it was like I felt a switch turn off, no emotion, his crying and yelling and anger and hate just didn't affect me, it was kinda like getting the "402 not found" message on your web browser. I was horrified, I didn't like it. I found myself trying to remember how I would have felt or acted normally, but I felt like he was right, I was a cold hearted bitch. Eventually I realized that was just the brains way of protecting us, my emotions were spiraling and i blamed myself. The lack of emotion ended up helping me get through tht time, i had him move out and I was trying to break things off for good but let him sucker me. I paid his bills for over a year after he moved out!! And that whole time he would still berate me for not paying on time (I was then living alone with my own bills,and rent is so high, I barely scraped by to start with). In the end I had to get a no contact order, just so he'd stop calling and texting and coming around my place- when he had moved out it was only 5 blocks away from me). One time I was taking him groceries and he grabbed me by the throat with one hand, he squeezed as he pushed me back towards the balcony. He lived on the 10th floor. After that I would never be alone with him, he would ask me to go for a drive with him, or visit him. At one point he picked up on it and made ridiculed me for only meeting him in public places, in that "aww, are you afraid of me?" It was chilling. I'm glad that I didn't end up like poor Hannah, I got out with only emotional trauma and scars. I feel that the whole experience left me with a clearer idea of who I am and the importance of setting and maintaining boundaries.
I'm so sorry I wrote so much! Sometimes just talking or posting to anyone is cathartic. Just saying things aloud or writing them, helps to process and to remember.

I’m from Victoria, Australia, and remember the second case all to well, to the point I just can’t watch without crying for those poor mum and kids. I can’t imagine what her family must of felt and still feeling to this day.

This case absolutely destroyed me, not just me but ALL of Australia.
Hannah was beyond brave, she didn't know that Rowan had stabbed himself and committed suicide and she hung on to make sure she could give the police EVERYTHING they would need to put him away forever.
Hannah was amazing.
Having lived with domestic violence myself for 7yrs I have always felt especially effected by this case.

How could a person ever bring themselves to kill their own children? Much less burn then alive in their little car seats. I kind of wish I hadn’t even learned about this. I’ve seen some messed up stuff and heard some rough stories, but this one is hitting me really hard.

men who go after (significantly) younger women usually do so specifically because they don't have the experience to see the warnings signs that women their own age do, leading to them rejecting them. they see younger women as easier to manipulate, abuse and generally take advantage of.
Thank you for distinguishing that psychosis doesn't make someone a murderer. I suffer from psychosis. And people hear that diagnosis and assume you can't be psychotic and still be a good human. Psychosis is not always an indication of violence or homicidal tendencies. Psychosis is characterized by hallucinations and paranoia, usually combined with other mental illnesses that have varying outward displaying symptoms. Psychosis alone does not signify an evil or harmful individual. Thank you for making that distinction.

The second story really hit. I was very lucky to got where I am but from watching these videos im a bit worried 💀 anyhow I just got out of an abusive relationship. My ex would manipulate me and push everything she could onto me and break me down. She made me feel as if it were my job to carry her weight and when ever I questioned anything bad she did, she would deminish me and convince me I was stupid for even thinking about it. For context, she was a shoplifter, liar, and manipulator. I convinced myself that she was all I deserved and that I would never end up finding someone better but here and there I would try to explain to her why she needed to stop stealing and hurting herself. She just shrugged it off and told me I was being stupid to support a corporation over her. Every day I was with her my mental health decayed until at night ide physically harm myself and even plot suicide. Im really glad I somehow woke up... maybe it was something in the back of my mind but I finally told her off and left. I just hope shes not a psychopath... otherwise this may be one of the last comments I ever write 💀

I also learned about narcissists and gaslighting the hard way. It broke me too. I feel like I'm only now getting to know myself, like I had to crumble down to my foundation before I could build myself up.
It gets better, I feel I learned a valuable lesson that will make me see people differently

That story was tearful. I cried that mum and her babies so sad ....so many warnings tho.
I have to mention the fact that she “didn’t want an open casket”. I have never understood open casket funerals… when I’m gone I absolutely do not want my friends/family to see my dead body. I want them to remember me alive, keep them good memories… not the memory of a fake painted lifeless corpse.
I swear to god, if anyone kidnapped a loved one of mine I would devote every possible second to tracking them down myself to get to the kidnapper first. I would make sure their last moments on this planet were pure hell.

Smh when I started taking up for myself after being emotionally abused for so long at this point he got completely enraged!! When he would call me thinder thighs one of his favorite mean comments to me I started say " oh yeah I have thunder thighs that's OK I can always lose weight but your head will always be that big!! " yeah he didn't like that so he broke my wrist smh
I remember hearing this case, and it's still stayed in my head, the way the killer tortured the mother for so long but she was very clever with how she kept him on the phone this is an excellent story, for those that haven't heard it. And just today I said where's my newest e-woo story?🐺🐺🐺🐺

I love this channel but not every killer is a psychopath or mentally ill. Some are just bad people who do bad shit. A domestic abuser isn’t always narcissistic or bpd or apd. They’re just a person who is abusive
Yes! Those words are thrown around too much now. It's like no one takes responsibility for their actions anymore. It's always "I have mental illness, so it wasn't my fault", blah, blah.

While thats true, they have someone who's a trained professional in psychiatry on their team so I am significantly more inclined to believe them. And it's not giving them an excuse either. It's just part of the reason and case. That and most of these people get seen by one or more psychologists during their trials who diagnose them with things so it's not like the channel is doing it on their own.
I think its more of a way to make it look like normal people wouldn't do these things. So they give them illnesses or assign them disorders. A way of separating the public from these evil people. Everyone has to be classified as something or other these days. Even kids in school who aren't smart are almost always said to have ADD lol. We all know there are some bad people living among us who are capable of the cruelest things, without a disorder.
Wow. Just wow. I moved 3 states away after 10 years because I saw the signs. My family thinks it's all in my head. I feel for that family. Red flags are there for a reason. Starting over is better than being over. RIP 🙏

As a domestic violence survivor I want to thank you for including information about Domestic Violence and resources. Most women don't realize if you get murdered it's most likely your husband, boyfriend or domestic partner. It is almost always proceeded by abuse. I was a strong, smart, fiercely independent woman. I was the last person who yu would ever think would be in an abusive relationship. Dispite escalating violence and multiple calls to the police, it took my abuser almost killing me for me to finaly leave. If it wasn't for a nighboor calling he police I'd likely be dead.
why do dv victims never get the support they need? he threatened to kill his children and still had access to them
