*First, this channel deserves all the praise it gets here in the comments and elsewhere!* Being a heavy true crime junkie myself, I recognise a superb fix and perfectly told case story when I see and hear it! The narration, the script, the production, but also the creators ability to almost perfectly mix it's ever growing "case portfolio" with both mainstream cases AND more unique, rarely told and somewhat "exotic" stories, are all together highly impressive. *Thank you for the fantastic stories you manage to roll out, week after week!*

@@rebelchild9905 it's exactly like pin the tail on the donkey. The video creator pulls out their phone and spins around a bunch of times until they're completely disoriented. Then they take a giant thumbtack, jam it into their phone screen, and whichever comment gets jabbed is the grand prize winner. What is their reward for such a great accomplishment you ask? They get a little heart next to their comment and it moves to the top of the list of all the comments, putting it above all the other crappy comments without hearts next to them made by the scum at the bottom of the list. Surely you can see how important it is to get your comment pinned. It's basically like totally life and death, literally.

Mini side note: autistic people aren’t “emotionless” like on that call, but some of us have unusual affect and our tone doesn’t always match how we really feel. Equally, many of us have hyperempathy. We aren’t all like this, I promise. Some of us cry when we accidentally step on worms.

If anyone makes that assumption, they need to think of all the true crime videos they've watched, because I'm sure we are all a fixated bunch of people if we are in this video comments section. We can all be drawn to "dark" things, it doesn't mean we are dark people ourselves. I believe sometimes it is that we are the complete opposite, and can't comprehend the other and that's why we are drawn to it

I did not leave my abuser because I was pregnant and had created a comfortable environment for myself and soon to be earthside son. I should’ve protected my son and myself before my family had lost respect for me when I chose to stay after they knew what he had done to me.
Just.. even if you worked so hard for something it’s not worth your life. He wound up throwing my furniture and things I’d gotten for our son in the apartment trash compactor 2 months after he was born because he got escorted out of the hospital, and also arrested for felony aggravated assault.

I’d also like to point out that having borderline personality disorder does NOT make you a murderer. I notice this channel diagnose a lot of people with it and we already have such a bad stigma from the bad people who have it. Not everyone has the deep rage like that. There is nothing wrong with you being diagnosed with that as long as you are actively working on it. Don’t automatically assume bpd makes someone bad though.

    • @sciencenotstigma9534
      @sciencenotstigma9534 2 роки тому +13

Thank you! All psychiatric diagnoses can range from mild to severe. They can manifest in different ways. I have Bipolar Disorder, and lots of people assume that means you go off on people, out of the blue. Bipolar doesn’t always mean a person is “moody” in relationships. Mood can mean feeling either very “up” and energetic, or tired and depressed. Many people don’t take those feelings out on others. People with Cluster B disorders can have trouble empathizing with others, but with insight and therapy, many choose not to hurt others, because many do have values, and a moral code. Very few people are either 100% empathetic, or 100% cold. There are varying degrees of everything.

exactly!! the same with autism. none of these should be villainized, people who have those disorders and are villainized are more likely to lash out from anger. [clearly not by killing someone all the time.] people who arent diagnosed with any mental illnesses kill too, people kill in general. regardless of mental illness/disorders or not.
and thank you for saying this, as someone with BPD its nice to have people stick up for destigmatizing personality disorders :)

I think we are FINALLY turning a corner in discerning EXPLANATION and EXCUSE.
Because all of these have explanations.....but not one event is excusable.
The courts have been very apprehensive in the last 10 years about a suspects mental health....but more as a reasoning for their behavior....not an explanation.
We need to remember that by stigmatizing these illnesses, we actually make it easy for people to be held LESS accountable for their actions.
There is a reason people have always plead insanity. It's easier to manipulate people into excusing behavior based on mental illness...it's right up there with "I didnt do it" and "it was an accident "
    So
    Many
    Times

I agree Emily I have it been through bad trauma, I was placed on basic anti depressant at 16 my anxiety ruled my life after I noticed I found it hard to keep up with all my relationships regarding family and friends. So did my own research I knew I had it but still it took 8 long years waiting for a 3hours evaluation for a diagnoses for p.t.s.d aswell which is far worse than the bdp in my case i dont need medication thankfully for b.d.p at all . I don't understand why people think everyone does it just that not the case. Ive never had anger issues or hurt anyone or been in trouble or violent or have rage! im the person that been shy, kind and quite frankly to caring! I cared for all my loved ones as a teenager and me being there for their deaths 😔 created my anxiety to get far worse still till this day im waiting for talking therapy to unload each traumatic event im 33 now. It seems as if every criminal or worse murderer lately is labelled bdp but I bet most were diagnosed after the crime will go and be evaluated to find a why? But really its to help themselves to a lighter sentence when their due in court. Some people can just be simply EVIL

Thank you for talking about domestic violence. My brother escaped from his abusive girlfriend two days ago. She had been holding him hostage for a month and for a week, had him tied naked to the bed. She hit him with a hammer multiple times, cut and stabbed him multiple times, took boiling water and poured it on his crotch, broke his nose, gave him black eyes multiple times, then two days ago, she said she was going to kill him and attempted to do so. He ran through broken glass on the floor to escape. She had spent all his money, ruined everything he owned, broke multiple beer bottles on the ground, then when she fled, she harassed my mom through text. She told my mom that her son is going to die. The cops haven't done anything about it and they haven't taken him seriously because he is a man. They are questioning if he is telling the truth even though he has been starved over a week now, has both black eyes, broken ribs, multiple cuts and stabs everywhere, a huge gash in his leg, his feet torn up. She had called the cops as my brother was running away and claimed that she was being held hostage, yet, there isn't a scratch on her and she has drained all of his accounts. We have been concerned about him for a month now. My mom went last week to his apartment and knocked on the door for 25mins. There was blood all over it. She called the cops and they said they couldn't get in because there isn't enough blood on the door and they don't smell rotting flesh. It turns out, he was laying on the other side of the door unconscious because the girlfriend had hit him over the head as he tried to run away. I hope to anyone reading this that is in an abusive relationship, leave please leave. It doesn't get better, it will always get worse. Please reach out to people, I promise you are very much loved.

For almost 2 years I dealt with an abusive relationship with a guy named John as well. He's the only person that I actually HATE. I will NEVER let that happen again. He tried to kill me 3x in one night. I felt like I was living in a Lifetime Network movie. The worst part was knowing nobody could help me. I could call the police, but they can't stay with me 24/7, and when they left, I suffered the consequences. I thank God I wasn't as dumb as a couple other girls that actually had a child with him. He didn't support any of his kids, one was in foster care because the mom passed, and he refused to take the child. One day he even told me that he would have no problem "getting rid" of his children. It was a nightmare that I still to this day think about. I can't believe I was so stupid.

I live in the hunter where this happened, i worked with a few people that knew Kathryn and her husband. And they always said you could just tell something wasnt right with her. One bloke who was a good mate of his and they would often have drinks with each other down at the local pub, the guy i knew said one night she walked in after he wasnt home when she got home from work, and while they were standing there talking. He seen her walk in looking for him and she just stood there staring through him, glaring right through him and the guy i knew, he said you just had this feeling that something wasnt right. And that you could tell she might eventually try something on him (from memory the husband even said this as well) He told me that the husband didnt come to the pub after that, and within a few weeks or possibly a couple of months after this event, is when this happened. So many people around the community were fucked up for a fair while. And everyone I've spoken to about it and the ones that actually knew them both, had always said the same thing. He knew everyone and was quite sociable from what I heard of him. But she was very withdrawn and strange.
There was a few different stories that had gone around. But apparently he got home from a night at work or after a few drinks and thats when she done it.
But she may actually be released, she apparently applied for bail and was being looked into considering shes served around 23 years. Though any judge in their right mind wouldnt let her out. Though hollywood wanted to make a movie about this too.
