After all my years of thrift shopping for cameras, I’ve noticed not only is it harder and harder to even find cameras anymore, these shops have caught on and are asking crazy prices. Just like swap meets.
Totally agree
Got a perfect condition Powershot A590 IS (5$) and a Sony Mavica FD75 (2$) today, so not everyone has caught on, alas my FD75 needs a battery but otherwise looks ready to rock, and the A590 already works great, it's fun to have a retro little point-and-shoot to counter my nicer DSLR and mirrorless cameras
I have never seen a man find so many film cameras, I am quite jealous
Just lucky I guess 😄
Should have gotten the princess cam.
Next time haha
Love your channel. Love how you speak like someone from 50s. Need to travel halfway round to US just for the thrift stores
Might be worth the trip!
Very similar to our thrift shop cameras, it's a great entertainment looking though trying to find a treasure.
Totally agree - even though these trips were a bust, still had fun with the thrill of the hunt
Been waiting for this one. So much fun. Our local Salvation Army store has a policy, no price tag, no sale. They reprocess for a few days before putting the item back on the shelf.
You ever hit Estate Sales? I find them best for 35mm finds.
Fun stuff here, as always. 👍
Thanks Jim - I’ve never gone to estate sales but I know you got a nice score on that Canon at the estate sale recently. I may have to check some out.
I'm gonna make a road trip out to ohio just to find some more cameras 😂😂 you always get some good finds!
Yes! Could be worth the trip 🤓
Thrifting for film cameras is one of my favorite rainy day past-times. Gotta bring those batteries with you just in case! I also bring a Polaroid 600 cartridge with some dud frames incase I run across a good Polaroid Instant camera.
Excellent call on the Polaroid cartridge JT!
@@theoldcameraguy It's saved me from buying a jacked up camera more than once!
I made my first zine on one of those Tele-Instamatics!
Nice! I’m hoping to make a zine with my Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim later this year.
I found a Yashica fxd quartz with a 50mm f2 lens in a charity shop( thrift shop) for £20 it had a shot body covering which I replaced with a kit from Ebay for £11. It is now a1 and is my favourite compact 35mm slr now.
Nice - sounds like a good find!
Some of the charity shops as we call them here in the UK have started to put really high prices on some of the old cameras they get in . Unfortunately the staff in there do not tend to understand what the value of them is . I mean yes paying a decent amount for something in great order and what is a known name is ok but when they put a high price on something that is full of fungus or broken NO !!!! looks like you got a bargain with the one you got ; ) Thanks for sharing Take care :D Teddy
This was a fun, informative video, as always! I really appreciated the tip to bring little bag of batteries! Thanks for all your videos, I love your channel!
Thanks so much! Every time you watch one of my videos and comment, it helps UA-cam share my channel with more people. I really appreciate your support Kary!
My favorite place to find cameras is usually church rummage sales. But since COVID, they've all been cancelled.
I've also had good luck at garage sales.
I’ve had a couple of good scores at flea markets too.
@@theoldcameraguy Thing is flea markets are pretty rare in my area. There's only one left and they only sell new stuff.
@@Francois_L_7933 We’ve got one that sets up at a drive-in theater in the summertime.
@@theoldcameraguy We have one like that but it's about a 2 hour drive to get there...
@@Francois_L_7933 That’s a haul! Mine’s a half hour away
I just picked up a Konica Autoreflex T (2) in the all black color way! Everything is in perfect cosmetic condition, lens is beautiful, but the body has a stuck shutter 😭 so I’m fixing it right now so I can sell this baby!
Nice! Hopefully it’s an easy fix for you.
Omg that heart shutter button is calling my name 10:02
❤️❤️❤️
I remember doing this back in the golden years of the 1980s. I got bunches of flash bulbs for next to nothing. :D Pretty slim pickins out there. That Kodak flash holder was kind of nice.
Yes - I used to pick up Magicubes for my Polaroid Big Shot back in the day
I haven't found a camera in a thrift store in so long, but I have a friend who seems to be able to find a few often. I need that super power. ha ha.
It’s a gift haha
Man, great video. I can’t wait for the 3rd installment of this series!!
Thanks - hopefully soon...
These treasure hunting thrift store videos are the best! Keep em coming! 👍👍👍🤠
Thanks - May do another in the Spring
I’m lucky to find a camera pouch at any thrift store around me I can’t imagine finding all the ones you did!
And another good one. I really enjoy this American thrif experience :). There is some 90s vibe.
Hey thanks Andy!
I found a pretty mint Nikon L35 for $3 at a thrift store recently. googled it and saw folks on eBay trying to get as much as $200 for one. Hard pass, I'll always just go to thrift stores lol
Nice score!
Yoooooo thats nuts
I saw a Vanguard tripod box at that second store. Some of those older models make decent spare, outdoor, or display tripods for putting your gear on.
Yeah I got my son a cheap tripod at a thrift recently. When I record videos in my studio, I’ve got the camera on one tripod and a little LED panel on another tripod.
Other than a really nice Spotmatic and an oddball flashcube gun, I've mostly been finding earlier digicams in my neck of the woods.
Amazing video, kinfolk!
Had a good videographer!
I love thrifting! The thrifted cameras here has kind of dried up. Hell, I bought my first working SLR from Savers here. 12 bucks for an AE-1 Program. Then I found a working OM-1. It was all downhill from there. I think I have over a hundred film cameras now. It's addicting as hell.
Great video. Thanks.
Thanks - That’s a couple nice finds!
Thrifting cameras is the best! Fun video man.
Thanks Rob!
That's a lot of thrift stores! The ones out this way are hit or miss with anything even being on the shelves anymore. It seems people have caught on lol. Also, I haven't been checking much because of the whole 'world is on fire' thing, but I need to get out to a few soon.
Yeah, I used to go out to thrifts weekly! This was several years ago when you could pick Stylus Epics and T4s for a couple bucks - Good times...
@@theoldcameraguy The best find I've come across (and actually my wife spotted it while in a thrift) was that Olympus OM10 kit with power winder and a few lenses. Mega score!! Lol
@@filmismorefun Nice - Olympus OM series was pretty sweet!
“The joy of the hunt”....
You didn’t take your battery out
I didn’t take my battery out on camera haha
this was so fun and entertaining! inspiring me to go out and look!
Thanks Joan - Happy hunting!
Ha, nice work man!
Thanks!
I enjoyed your video! Nice big thrift stores you have in Ohio.
Thanks - Yes, we do have some good thrifts here
6:29 why is the scream auto tuned XD
Im a beginner looking for a 35mm film camera that is easy to use, has built in flash and can take pictures automatically without me having to change a lot of setting, work well in the sun and the pictures won’t have dark edges. Which camera would you recommend ? I’ve been told that Olympus and Yashica are good for me.
The Minolta Freedom series point and shoots are great inexpensive beginner cameras.

bro that princess can messed with your exposure
😆
best camera of the day : kodak 110
My wife got excited when she saw the 110 camera because her Grandpa had one just like it.
@@theoldcameraguy lol, me too my first camera was a 110 from my dad - agfa pocket. and this is why im in the expired world is to keep the 110 vinatge look :)
110’s were junk. Cheap plastic lens with a tiny negative equaled terrible pictures
Curious why do you want trays with other peoples slides in them?
Just like “found film” - it’s a peek into other people’s lives and cultures. Many slides are pretty old, so they’re a window to a bygone time.
Hard to find any decent film cameras at thrift stores anymore. Allot of them put there cameras on ebay.
So true.
1:02 what is it?
“Quickshot” camera - 50mm f6 point and shoot
Guess who got an antique box camera?!
You!
YES
@hallogermany3214 Nice!
autotune on voice?
Just a weird compression in iMovie
Why does his voice sound autotuned
People buying and reselling sucks.
CRT TVs :0
