WSL is amazing! I use a Windows 11 computer for work and use WSL for than Windows. For the reasons y'all don't like it, are the reading I think it's great. The integration into Windows is great. I have to use Windows for work.... And as a docker dev, WSL is so good.

Hey, I love listening to your show. Lately, I’ve been thinking about using Kali Linux as my daily driver. I’m pretty new to Linux and was looking for a distro based on Debian Testing. The recommended way to install Debian Testing is by updating the sources.list file, but it ended up breaking my install. So, I was looking for a distro that makes the whole process easier. There aren't many distros based on Debian with a rolling or semi-rolling release model other than Kali

Welcome to the Linux community and the Destination Linux community. I am glad you decided to join both. :D To answer your question, I need to ask you some questions.
      1. Why do you want Debian?
      2. Why do you want rolling?
The answer to these questions will make it easier to offer a suggestion.
In the meantime, the main value in most people's perspective is that Debian is kind of the opposite of rolling so wanting rolling on Debian isnt likely going to be the best approach.

@DestinationLinux Thank you very much, Michael! It all started when I wanted to use the latest version of GNOME without sacrificing stability. The current version in Debian is 43, while the latest is 46. I tried Ubuntu, but it felt a bit heavy for me. I also tried openSUSE, but I occasionally received error messages that reminded me of my experience with Windows, so I gave up on that as well. Debian was the only system that ran smoothly, without errors, with the only issue being its outdated packages. I read that it's possible to get slightly more up-to-date packages in the testing version without significantly compromising stability since packages undergo preliminary testing before moving from the Sid version to the testing version. By the way, I also tried Parrot OS Home Edition, but there are known bugs when installing GNOME, which makes it complicated. Additionally, I believe the GNOME version there isn't up-to-date either. I was specifically looking for the latest GNOME version because it includes support for connecting to OneDrive in a simple manner.

I found out that Mint also supports adding online accounts, including onedrive, so problem solved for me.

Hey there, happy to help whenever I can and sorry for forgetting to respond earlier. GNOME is the heaviest of all DEs on Linux, you wouldn't think it would be because it is a minimal style and theres not a ton of customizations but it is. Debian's purpose is to be "stable" but they mean "doesnt change much" when they use that term, not "stability" of the system, this is why GNOME is so old in it as well as everything else. Ubuntu's GNOME is basically the same weight as any GNOME because that's just a GNOME thing. Testing branch is for people who are not new to the platform because when you start messing with changing package branches then it should be expected that quirks will be there and new to Linux users rarely want to deal with those. I wonder what other distros you tried before declaring Debian to be the only one :) , I ask because Fedora is pretty good :D
openSUSE is good but not for beginners as it requires a lot of adjustments unfortunately.
Parrot OS Home is good for what it is but its not a good idea for beginners to Linux to change the DE that a distro comes with because you are then using unsupported untested components. You are correct, GNOME would be out of date because it is based on Debian and 99% of the time, that's how it goes in the Debian world.
I see, you needed OneDrive. I see in your next comment that you found GNOME Online Accounts is included in Linux Mint 22+. They added that support on the latest release for Mint so it is GNOME's solution but through a different setup. OneDrive support is limited because Microsoft are jerks about it but that makes sense for your choice. I'm glad you found Mint for your needs. - MT

As someone with extensive experience with blue team, we used mint and arch only, non of our redteam used kali instead forced to build their own tools but Kali is cool for learning the basics

you can install pretty much any and all of the tools in kali on any other distro. i think kali is more or less just for the convenience of having a bunch of tools + resources in one iso with minimal set up.

So you are trying to say kali is uncapable of anything you think kali is just a small road for script kiddies.

While it's true that fictional shows that employ tech often exaggerate the capabilities for dramatic effect, Bluetooth range does depend on a variety of factors and the often quoted 10m of indoor range may be of the order of 50m outdoors without obstacles.
Even within the home you typically find you Bluetooth headphones will work in the next room away from the source.
But yes for a very low power device hidden inside a car it is not going to propagate that well through the car's bodywork and worse if the vehicle speed is higher.

Also the forward collision warning being sent to car insurance sucks because it's not very accurate. I'll get hits from the other direction of traffic if it's too close or changing lanes to the turn lane

CSI writers are quoted as deliberately writing the worst tech scenes on purpose. Scorpion was an ethernet cable. But the worst was Dork and Abby using a keyboard at the same time.

I do my notes in Vim (actually Neovim now). It's the only correct answer. But I tolerate second class note takers using anything else too.

The whole thing about WSL was about why , why not to use WSL, but came with no what can be changed in WSL to make it better and more worth using/liking... I hate to complain without giving more detailed reasons and with them also making suggestions. A complainer will find a new complaint as soon as you improved that which they complained about.

Once you grasp with the term...the quiter you become the more you will be able to hear then you can use kali in a way that you just dont swat down a beehive and get it attracted to you...just with every power comes with great responsability...true motto for experienced kali usrs...

You should be very carefully with Kali, it's very easy to get busted for stuff you made and never thought you could. It's like Kaliweed written not in (but with) C. 🤣🤣🤣

Kali is not a daily driver and is based on debian testing. Also only script kiddies would use it for a daily driver. Pro's use it in a VM and clear their engadgement info after. Facts. But running it bare metal has its benefits but that doesn't make it a daily driver.
