My boss was dumbfounded by this since the target was 20 new customers. I told him if I’m not selling my existing customers the breath of our goods why should I look for new customers? I sold them T/P, baling wire (compactors) & even fine paper for their advertising & printers.
Right, because most times the existing customer will get neglected while you’re out chasing new customers. Kind of similar to a marriage. If you’re out chasing new ladies, the one at home will get neglected, more times than not, anyways!!!
A perfect example is real estate agents and attorneys. For them it's a game of quantity. They continuously sign up everybody they can but then they kinda disappear as they hope somehow you'll do the work for them.
Sadly that doesn't apply to big businesses like phone or internet providers, they'll slowly put up your bill whilst offering the good deals to new customers

Good idea. I also like to add on services with the same guys I already know are trustworthy and reliable. I’m getting ready to ask my landscaper if he and his guys can/will build garden beds and install a new trellis for grapevines
My siblings, and I all gathered at my grandmother‘s house, which is in the middle of the country and we were on either coast, and we went for two weeks because we were going to paint my mother‘s house my grandmother‘s house. We stuck with white, and we stuck with green trim, sort of a mid green. She lives in Kansas and they get quite a bit of snow and where she’s located in town it drifts and you can have 2 inches of snow but they’ll be a 6 foot drift in front of her garage. She has a front step that has two steps, and then a long sidewalks, and then another two steps into the house. The back door only has two steps, normal size steps into the back door, which goes down cellar or inside the house. Because everything was so white and my grandmother was in her 70s and a short woman, I thought it would be a good idea to paint the front of the step, the same color as the trim, the green color. And she loved writing letters, she wrote me a letter later, saying that it was so much easier for the people to shovel, because they knew where the stairs were and went to stop. So you might want to consider a contrasting color like the way you were doing against the dark house, but make the dark color what’s on the front of the step because white and snow is not gonna help. There’s also number painting on curbs. A lot of people have done that too.
As a Concreter I can tell you we charge a lot as a lot can go wrong. It’s very risky sealing old concrete. My friend had issues on a huge job and it cost him $20,000 to repair. Be careful and don’t undercut people. The price is there for a reason.
Now I wanna hear that story. I assume concrete needs to be cured to be sealed/painted, but old concrete. Other than running the gambit of patching options to get it prepped for a finish that hides the patches, what could go wrong?
@@JamesZaraza-wv3gt he extended an old driveway that was huge. The sealer was fine on the new concrete but it didn’t bond to the original concrete. His been doing it for 20 years so he knows what he is doing but for what ever reason it didn’t bond. I’ve also had issues with older concrete being very patchy when sealed as it becomes porous in some sections, where it’s worn out more than once colour seal, really patchy.

If I could find a person to powerwash my home & drive AND fix my irrigation system AND lay down sod AND redo my beds I would be very happy! edit: AND put up my Christmas lights.
Honestly that's a good idea I was in the concrete business for years with my husband. Nobody just stains concrete like that after the fact usually you stain it while you're putting it down but that's a good idea
Most people who want things done like this, know what they want and want it done on a schedule, just like having it pressure washed. They have disposable income and all the better to have it done by someone else! So don't feel sorry for them. They are adults and make adult decisions. You are just being negative because you see it as a waste of money. They see it as an improvement.
Coming from a painting company owner, if you want to go even quicker then I cannot recommend 18” rollers enough! But what makes them even better is by using a 14” roller frame with the 18” roller cover. Why the mismatch? Because the 18” roller frames are always “cages” that have bars on both sides of the cover which makes “cutting in” with your roller even harder. But the 14”s are just like the 9” roller frames, which makes getting close to cut lines WAYYYY easier.
Depending on state laws this may be very illegal. Some areas your business would have to go from a specialty contractors license to a full contractors license. Every state treats this different. My state it depends on how much you charge and what kind of work. Some may classify any work with concrete as structural and require you to have a full contractors license. If your company isn’t fully compliant you could be risking severe penalties and possible jail time. Not to mention expanding your business you should always consult with a lawyer. It can be a bad look for a company. You don’t want to try to become one of those contractors that is trying to be all in one. Some specialty’s are good for your company and if you branch too far out you may hurt your own brand more.

Try misting the stain next time so there aren’t roller marks or heavier color on the overlaps. And of course when you stain you can dilute certain products for variable shades.
Would staining the concrete increase the time between cleanings? If it does, doesn't that declease the amount made on pressure washing on that individual customer?
Sure you can. It should be stained and sealed. In a few years, you come back, pressure wash, and reseal. If they go too long, it will need to be restained, but that takes quite some time. I did one for a client where the sealer was gone for 10 yrs or so. The stain lifted in some areas giving it an aged look. I pressure washed and layered a gloss sealer. I showed him a test spot of what it would look like. He loved the aged look and I got a ton of word of mouth business from him.
