Well that sure ain't your old fashioned splash and dash is it. Seriously, fantastic workmanship. The skill level in this shop is way out of the park. Thanks for letting us watch.
@@metalworksclassicautoresto9583 Thanks I have learned more from these few videos on this car than dozens of others that don't show or explain what they are doing and the steps they take and why.
As always Your guys do a fantastic job. It looks like they really pay attention to detail. So tell me, I see you are using Evercoat products. Is this Superbuild product the same as their Feather Fill that I used to use many moons ago or totally different? And In your opinion, is it superior to Feather Fill?
Excellent video and excellent work on the '55! The Super Build primer looks perfect for restorations like this. Did he use the Super Build over the body filler and bare metal? Who makes the primer and what is the brand name?
That's 3m Dry guide coat. Look it up. Works great. It will show you low or high spots. They are basically using it to show them when they have sanded out the 120 sand scratches at this point.
Oh..... Sorry! Body and paint 2020 $100,000.00 And it would be a safe bet that the big question from owner to shop mgr.is" when? " as opposed to the" how much?" This is very likely a half million dollar car that we are observing here. If I'm wrong , it's due to my lowball estimate. This ain't a restoration. Re- animation would be more accurate. The result of planetary alignment and the cost involved is removed from being an issue.Which is different from"money is no object".Somebody is counting the beans here, but no one is losing any sleep. Surreal comes to mind..Powerful forces at work here.Discovery channel minus the scripted silliness.
Why prime it again you havnt sanded through in any spots down the sides.. use the material that is already on instead of putting more on...why put so much material on and then just scratch the top off and prime again..

Hey guys you should check out an archeive pic of 55 in gun metal gray and coral pink. Beautiful color combo I think. Be safe. Peace.🇺🇸
My father had one in that combination when I was a youngster.
Kudos
Next part please!!
Amazing job! Can't wait to see this project finished. Up to this point, how many man hours has this job required? How many more to go??
What is that super build? Like who makes it and is that the name on the can? This car is gonna be a work of ART!
looks to be a sprayable polyester filler, something like Upol reface.
Gene...we actually show the can of Super Build by Evercoat in the video, so you can see what it looks like.
@@metalworksclassicautoresto9583 I typed that message about a minute before you showed.
Hello. How much time do you season the primer before you start sanding? and why the first step is such an aggressive paper as 80 grid?
We bake our polyester primer, then go into the 80 to ensure all of our initial body work is straight.
Lookin sweet 🍭
What sanding stage do you do next, 320-400 wet sand or?
We'll do a 3rd primer to fill all the 220 scratches, then sand to 500.

It's basically the same product...more the less the replacement.
Excellent video and excellent work on the '55! The Super Build primer looks perfect for restorations like this. Did he use the Super Build over the body filler and bare metal? Who makes the primer and what is the brand name?
David you can see the process in the previous video: ua-cam.com/video/_TjAMo8MKAw/v-deo.html Evercoat is the brand of primer.
What's he putting on at 15:56...

Thanks for responding, it looked like shoe polish...
It takes a special person to sand.
I don't think I could do it...

IT TAKES SOMEONE WITH NOTHING UPSTAIRS Joe
@@davidson2004fatboy and you know first hand.
How many man hours went into this process?
What is that being sprayed at 6 min in?
Just wax & grease remover...spray it on to see any imperfections...it wets the panel for a shine.
@@metalworksclassicautoresto9583 I was wondering what could be used to do just what you described without soaking in. Thanks for the education.
just a guess at the cost to body work and paint this 30k ?
