  • The Australian Government's Future Gas Strategy is policy from a backwards land where logic is reversed.
And unlike what Resources Minister Madeleine King wants you to think, expanding fossil fuel use is NOT the path to “net zero”
Senior Fellow and Contributing Editor Stephen Long explains.

What on earth is it going to take for the Govt to stand up to the fossil fuel lobby.

They were elected on a "small target" strategy after Shorten's election loss. They are in government now so its time to do something new not just do the same as Scomo did.

Like “fighting for peace” or “screwing for virginity”, gassing for lower emissions is a logical contradiction. Hoping for more teal at the next election..

Expanding the gas fields makes a lot of sense and will be highly beneficial (....for multinational Gas corporations!). 🙃

Yay, higher energy prices, less jobs, inflation and loss of food production when we are the number 1 for renewable energy.

Those who oversaw this area and policy prior development, now work for these oligopolies on boards and as shareholders. It’s ridiculous, as the policy notes, we don’t wanna tax these gas fields because it would discourage investment to open the fields. Politicians, paid professional liars as the highest bidder wins.

I’ve being saying for years we should be moving towards the Norway model rather than the African, we need collateral to build a secure country and commonsense fiscal preparation, not the spend it to suck up model we have now.
A lot of resources were borrowed to raise the largest generation the world has ever had (infrastructure, education and health) now Peter is knocking on Paul’s door and we cut alloparenting as well to do it, time to invest in the young not strip them of future resources for less than peanuts. There’s lots of repairing to do.

I'll be honest, I expected your voice to sound older and a lot more rural sounding, didn't expect the sound of a 40 something to come out :P

@@Splattle101 Those subsidize end up in our super accounts, ie the majority voter. Its buying votes at the expense of society overall.

"If I don't sell drugs to children, someone else might!"
      That's a terrible argument ??
Why does someone else [doing bad thing] make it okay for us to [do bad thing]

@@ordan787 Your assuming its a choice. If we dont, some other country might come in and take over the job for us, perhaps a US sponsored freedom visit. That would be consistent with history.
