- I return to my most popular filming spot, Honey Creek Road, for my 100th video. CN 3088 and CN 2983 pull a long, mixed freight northbound, up Canadian National's Waukesha Subdivision. The 78.7 defect detector gives readouts as well. This was filmed north of Honey Creek, Wisconsin.
Thank you to my subscribers and everyone who has watched my videos through the years. When I filmed the original "CN Freight Train" here over a decade ago, I never would have imagined so many people would enjoy my train videos and want to see more. I really appreciate it!
Be sure to check out my other videos from this location:

Thanks, Josh!
holly crap!!! that train was a monster!!! ( 171 ) freight cars!!! I'd of given that train 4 locomotives! haha
arlingtontrains7 nice video
BRENTON81: Congratulations on your 100th video!! Quite an accomplishment! Your videos are the BEST on UA-cam and you picked the BEST location to film this milestone video since this is my favorite location of then all! And wow, 173 cars and one of the longest trains you have filmed. I noticed that the engineer did not sound the horn until he was almost at the crossing and this varies from other engineers who sound the horn way in advance of the crossings. I wonder what the regulation is on that. Anyhow, another fine video and thanks for sharing!
Thank you. This seems to be a lot of people's favorite spots so I specifically picked it for my 100th video. Hard to believe I shot the original over 10 years ago now. Your observation is correct in that engineer cut it a little close with the horn. The long, long, short, long sequence is technically supposed to be sounded before the train occupies the crossing but he got a few blasts on the horn before he got to the road so I'd call it okay. ;-)
Memories of the first video at this spot.
I watched it when I was 4.. ^-^
Same
This is my FAVORITE location of all your train videos since I LOVE this country setting. The next time I am in Wisconsin, I would LOVE to go there and would love it even more if a train is approaching but not sure how active this track is with daily trains.
You probably wouldn't have to wait long. This line is pretty busy. It's Canadian National's mainline between Canada and Chicago.
@@Brenton81 Great to hear and thanks for sharing that note, Brenton!
That crossing is over 10 years old now time for an upgrade LOL.
Congratulations on your 100th video! I think I've seen most of them....and I'll be waiting for more!
Thank you!!
congratulations on your 100th video man. I was hoping the train would have exactly 100 cars, for the 100th video, but it was 171! And only two engines!
Fantastic train and video!
Congrats on 100!
Thank you!
I have subscribed! You have great videos!
Thanks!

You know there’s something weird going on! The trend with Canadian National is that the crossing gates typically have bells that only ring when the gates are dropping. At least in Centralia that’s how it goes, but this one just rings through the entire activation.
Around here most of the bells keep ringing at least until the gates start to rise. There's a few on the CP that don't but it's random. Almost seems like it's maintainer's choice or whoever was in charge of the installation at the time. It's easy to change the bell set up though. You just rotate the cam in the gate mechanism. If you set it so the contact is open at horizontal, the bell will stop. If you rotate it so it stays closed, the bell will keep ringing.
Great catch!
Thanks!!
It's crazy looking at some of your older videos (especially the ones from 2007/2008) and seeing how much has changed...
When CN bought the Wisconsin Central, there were major changes on this line. Almost all of the crossings were upgraded to gates, LEDs and new detection equipment. Sidings were added, and the block signal system was completely replaced.
freebrickproductions that train was a monster
This is really good. I love your videos of CN Freight Train 1, 2, and 3 and this is the perfect addition because JEEZ, the longest train I've ever filmed was 150 freight cars! Not to mention congratulations on your 100th video!!! Keep up the great work. I also made a public UA-cam playlist about some of my favorite catches of trains people caught and I have some of your videos there (including this one). Do you wanna check it out?
I'll definitely check it out!
Brenton, can you do CN Freight Train 5?
I'm sure I will at some point.
I'll see about trying to get to this crossing, and probably get a CN freight train at this crossing.
@@Brenton81 I Was Looking Forward To That
Hey Brenton, I have three questions for you: 1. Have you ever been at crossings where the signals and/or gates malfunctioned?; 2. Do you wear any ear protection? (Those train horns are VERY noisy at close range and so are those train cars.); 3. Have you seen any hobos on any of the trains?
The worst malfunction I've seen is the lights turning off early in my first CN Freight Train video. I've never witnessed a total activation failure. I don't wear ear protection when I shoot videos. I really don't film frequently enough where I need it, unlike train crews who are exposed to the noise all the time when they're working. I haven't personally seen a hobo but I've heard trains being stopped on my scanner before, with the police waiting, because of people illegally riding.
Brenton, thanks for the reply! Yes, I remember that malfunction very well since that is at our most favorite crossing where you filmed four videos. Amazing that you have not seen worst crossing equipment failures with all your videos. The reason I mentioned about ear protection when you filmed is that I have been at crossings where the passing train horns were so LOUD that I had to plug my ears! Regarding hobos, yes, they take chances of getting caught and punishments vary. I have followed several on UA-cam like "Shoestring", "Brave Dave" and the late "Stobe" but there are so many others who ride illegally which is something I would NEVER do! I LOVE trains but NOT the danger of riding on them illegally and possibly getting caught or killed.
When railroad gates are down usually the bell does not ring
It varies. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
11 years now and not much has change.
The defect detector sounds even more scripted than CNFT 1 and CNFT 3. It used to only say detector milepost 78.7 no defects! Total axle: - - - Temperature: - - . It literally now says CN detector mile 78.7 no defects! Northbound! Total axle: - - - Temperature: - -. Detector out! Did they replace it or is it someone voicing over the detector?
All the ones I've heard sound like this one now. I'm pretty sure they've all been upgraded at some point. Direction of travel and train speed is also part of the readout now. There's also an entry message as well as an exit message now.
I just visited CN official page
Great Vid! Is This The Waukesha Sub?
Yes.
I wonder when you'll do CN Freight Train 5?
I don't know. Someone asked if I would do a video there with snow, so maybe I'll do one now that it's winter here.
Will you do a CN freight train 5 ?
Eventually, yes.
Do a retake in 2019 please.
I watched the first when I was 6 or 7 years old.
Brenton81 Just as amazing as the original!
Thanks!!
Brenton81 I just noticed the defect voice changed.
Yeah, they're different from the Wisconsin Central days.
Brenton81 how many trains a day does this track see?
25-30. It's CN's mainline between Canada and Chicago.
you can really hear the motor of the engine
Just another batch of CN ES44's...
I think we all know what's about to happen.
