  • With the cost of cedar rising at an alarming rate we are looking at different cladding options.
This Hardie cement fibre board is a brilliant alternative!
It has many benefits, its fire resistant, colour fast and easy to install.
We are fitting midnight black, and there are 6 colours to choose from.
We will definitely be using this on may future projects I'm sure!
Please hit the like and subscribe options
    Thanks

Evening Mr. Griffin and squad. Been a while, but worth waiting for a 55 minute binge. I have to say the boards look fantastic and a real alternative to cedar wood. After your price admission I’m not sure it’s a monetary alternative but as you say the price of cedar continues to rapidly go up it’s a no brainer for most who require a professional and premium looking option. I’m still not sure when it’s best to start my project as wood is still so high and not the best quality either. Patience waits for no man. 😔

Looks a good alternative to real wood or composite cladding. Bosch make fibre cement jigsaw blades which are great for cutting cement tile backer boards, maybe less dust than the grinder. £18 for 3 👍

Been a while Liam. Great content as always. Just finished doing the front, side and back of my house in sage green Hardie plank but not t&g. I used a guillotine to cut it and then a file just to tidy it up. The guillotine sits off the ground a bit so recommend that you prop up the boards when cutting. Worth investing in one if you are cutting these boards regularly. You can have mine now I've finished with it. I'll even post it for free. Great bids again. Keep up the good work.Rob in Sussex.

Looks great & it's an Australian product (amazingly!) However, visiting our local 'supplier' this morning & not a sight nor sound of it! So be interesting to see how easy it is to find down here! I'd be wanting the grey - the thing I'm particularly interested in is how you do the soffits & undersides of eaves - as we're wanting to use it on new extensions, but our existing Cape Cod-style roof with dormers needs new soffits & gutters... Used to live North of Hadrian's Wall before moving Down Under - thanks for showing how you did it.

Ive used it on 3 large decks cutting 20mm hardideck and 1 3 storey 4 bedroom home cutting inex fibre cement weatherboard 18mm thick and half another home for the same weatherboard and its still going strong. It cost me I think $300 Australian.

i know you have probably done loads of this stuff, but i did a training course the other day for a similar product called Cedral, they recommend for the touch up paint, use a rag then dab it on and use the rag right to left and rub the paint in. Because the paint is sprayed on its hard to do with something else. But I'm sure the sponge works just as well, but it was just what I saw on the course :D

The two part metal corner sections may have been 'off square' because they are 'pre sprung' so they fit the corner better & also may allow for out of square builds, i am guessing stainless steel screws are used ;-)

Can you please do a video on how to build a very small garden office? One with an internal floor area of about 2m x 2m. A family member wants one that is just big enough to have a desk and chair in it, don't need anything fancy, just something that is water tight and insulated and has a electric plug socket. Most garden office builds are for ones that are too big, they want to keep it small to keep costs to a minimum and make it an easier DIY project.

Fantastic video and as always, super informative!
Love the zero maintenance, but not too sure on the fake wood grain. Dare I say it, but if maintenance was a deciding factor I'd probs choose the anthracite tin clad you've shown over this. If this was cheaper that cedar perhaps it would sway me, but as you rightly keeping referring to it, it's just cement board.
Whilst not something people give a huge thought to, but should someone wish to rip it down later, is this cladding recyclable, or is it treated similarly to say plasterboard?

    • @thegardenroomguru
