I used to be an exchange student studying in China, and I know that China is vary safe, and i think Western media has been biased against China
they are not "biased" against china. The do this on purpose to control peoples's mind. They think people as their slaves, as their properties. They worlk for black nobles, which are basically negative aliens. They are technically more advanced than humans. You have no clue about them because they do it on purpose. They have taken control of media, govenment, military, education, hostial etc. They founded U.N. WHO etc. You can never learn anything about it in school or mainsream media, because they are used to train you into slaves. But truth is out there, justice is winning.

Thank you so much. I live in Australia and people tend to stereotype “China” and speak without the knowledge. I have been to about 8-10 cities in China and married a Chinese woman. I have never seen any evidence of street crime. And you hit the nail on the head, it is the culture that generates the safety aspect.

I can totally relate. While I was living in China , I never realised I was living in such a safe country until I came abroad..over 16 years of living in different countries(I’ve been to almost the whole Europe, Africa, South Asia ), China is the safest country !

Actually, I`d say not every camera is connected to the government database or authorities. Most of them are owned by the stores in which they are located. Some are connected to the police station only if it is a jewelry store. And trust me there is no way the government can have a look at those monitored videos because they don`t have enough processing power. Yeah, most cameras u can see in China are 720p or even 480p, when the police want to find any suspect they need to do a lot of work to make the videos clear enough.
And the only kind of camera which is definitely connected to the government is traffic camera, and it is true only if you believe the traffic department is called the Government of People`s Republic of China directly.

I am a Chinese girl, 5 feet, studying in the US for 7 years now. Whenever I go back to China I have to remind myself: It's okay, I am in China, I am safe when going out at night...but still get nervous sometimes since I got so used to the environment in the US...
In the US, you need to learn some basic techniques to protect yourself in case. Yingying is such a tragedy because she does not know some basic rules living in the US.

Well, all I can say is that I live in Australia for ten years and I never dared to go out at night. But in China, i never even thought about safety when I go out at night.

Don't you think there's a small minority of racists in China? Australia has one of the most ethnically diverse populations anywhere, 50% are first or second generation immigrants. China is way less than even 1%. We get on pretty well with people of different races. Don't try and say that only western countries are racist because that is patently false.
I agree, I was so shocked when my homestay warned me not to go out alone after 7 pm, becoz in China I never ever need to worry abt my safety going out at night 🤦🤦🤦

But you cant help when medias frame Chinese smuggling toilet paper( have to say some do buy bulk milk powder) and ship them overseas, I was like what the hell? There was never a shortage of toilet paper at any time in mainland China FYI. But I only been bullied/ laughed at because my skin colour maybe 3 or 4 times over the 15 years, so I am grateful that I came to Australia, at least I was bashed because my ethinic.
Have been to few Chinese city, very safe. People are all very friendly. Totally different than what’s west media reported.

I live in Shenzhen too. The other day I went for a walk in this park near my place. It was about 9pm so it got pretty dark, and the park was almost empty. There was this lady doing yoga in the middle of a lightless grass patch all by herself. So either she trusted the neighborhood enough to dare to do that, or she's confident about her kungfu skills...
Highly probably both.
I don't think she knows kungfu...lmao....but actually she knows nothing bad would happen to her since the security in China(especially Shenzhen) is exceptionally good!

Working for a US Company, I traveled and worked in different cities in China since 2006. I feel China is extremely safe. Most Chinese believed the communist parties are governing for the people and making their lives better. We can see the extreme locked down and testings China have done saved thousands of lives. The people are very active in helping containing the virus, which enabled China to recover so quickly.

I come from Guiyang, a second tier city in China. It's very safe. I can walk five kilometers home in the middle of the night without any danger.
I've been in Australia for one and a half years now. Once my friends and I went to a street full of nightclubs on a Friday night, at about 10 pm, my German friend was hit by some strangers for no reason. And a passenger was hit for trying to help. I heard them saying, "because you're white..." Something like that. That was the first time I went to nightclub and I won't go again. My home country is safer indeed. At least, you won't be hit by someone unknown while walking down the street before midnight.
The other thing I wanna talk about is this. Recently people are blaming Chinese for the spreading of Covid-19. Racism happened in the comments under every news about the virus. My coworkers talked about the news every single day. Sometimes I would join them and tell them China is safe now but no one believed me. They smiled with a look that said "you're brainwashed by the Chinese government, I don't believe you". So I don't talk to them now. I can sense that more hatred and more denial have been created by the people who don't know about China, who haven't been to China. It's sad. One of my coworkers even said "don't say you're Chinese. Just say you're Taiwanese or you're from Hong Kong." I said no, I'm Chinese and I won't pretend to be people from other countries. I just hope people can open their eyes and realize China is not what most Western media have been talking about.

There is a BBC interview with the Singapore Prime Minister about liberty of a society is actually very interesting. He described the liberty of a society as being able to walk on a street freely particularly if you are a woman or child at any time of the night, as having an opportunity for education or job regardless of your race or your social background and as being able to practice your own religion without feeling discrimination. I feel in China people could achieve above or at least at some very close level. I was born and grew up in Beijing in my first 20 years then came to US for education and work. I have lived in a lot of different cities, west coast and east coast more than 10 years now. I would say even in 1990s and 2000s I was able to walk on street at dark night alone without worrying anything in China not even mentioned now but I would definitely not feel safe in 99% of the city or suburban in US I stayed. A lot westerners could not even imagine how can woman and child walk at dark night, welcome to China.
Absoutely true. When I lived with my husband in Brussles, one night I went for a walk after supper. He was shcoked and said it was not safe for a walk after sunset, there're lots of immirant from poor or war countries. Afterwards, I was stopped going for a walk after 7 pm.

So I choose to wait for them to fall asleep and then go out online and play until 4:00 a.m. and close to 5:00 a.m. to go home. In my heart, I was still a little uneasy. Once I was walking alone on the street, but I was a little afraid in the evening. I was afraid of meeting some bad people. There were some industrious sanitation workers on the street who gave me some sense of security. I remember very clearly that a police car passed by me and stopped in front of me. They told me to try not to go out so late and pay attention to my safety. After that, I didn't go home so late alone.
Last December when I went to Barcelona, I got robbed in a metro station. It's the first time in my life I got robbed or stolen.

When I was there for 4 years, it was much, much safer than my home country. The only problems I EVER had was the spoken and written language, could never get my head around it. Would LOVE to go back, but travelling now at my age is not possible. Lovely Place is China.

I totally agree with your point of view. I was born and raised in Hong Kong, and I lived in Beijing for 1 year. I remember there was a night I took a very late flight from 广州 to 北京. I walked from the train station to my home on my own. I feel really safe when doing so, because I know that there are cameras everywhere. No one would dare to commit crime in front of the CCTV. If I were in Hong Kong, I would not be brave enough to walk on my own at the middle of the night.
I could still remember once I was visiting a client in Hongkong. After I finished supper with the client in a restaurant, my client told me to be careful not to walk through smaller streets on my way back to the hotel. It was 2015 around 8:30 PM, and in Wanchai which is pretty much part of the city center to me. I thought they were kidding, but they told me seriously to be careful and avoid being robbed.
Well, I never have to worry about being robbed in mainland by 8 PM.

well, there may be some misconception about those camera.They are not controlled by cctv. except traffic cameras,most of them are managed by community or police. If you were hurted or some crime happens, you or the police can help you defend your rights according some videos from the camera. it's the purpose of these cameras.

I really like your speaking about the reality of China. In fact there are so many Hong Kong people do not like China, even though China is becoming better, they are not willing to face the fact of many of the cities from China is more safe than other western cities.

很多外国人觉得监视，那是他们不知道中国老百姓有些连马桶堵了都要报警，警察还必须要出警。。整天忙得不可开交，没事谁会去看监控，看得过来吗，也不会让人随便看。满大街的监控，除非抓罪犯，否则没人调出来看。

Yea, I remember when I was there before they set up so many cameras and I could walk around the city at night and enjoy the silence without a worry in my mind about my safety. It's even more so now.

我的同事们对中国感到很好奇，他们曾经小心翼翼地和我讨论关于gov、police等话题。我不知道他们接收到了什么样的信息，但是从他们略表同情的语气，我可以推测一定是消极的。我问他们是否到过中国，果不其然，他们都没有去过。我就告诉他们，这就是你们会问我这些问题的原因。很明显的，他们对中国存在偏见。我建议他们有机会一定要到中国去。因为我相信他们亲自去看一看，比我说什么都更有说服力。
