It's the basic stuff that counts. I've come so far as a producer just from your tutorials and feedback streams. I've gotten my first official release by a small label and I can't thank you enough Zen!
I've tried this one before but man, you are highly entertaining and one of the best at doing synth/sound design tutorials. Everything you post is on point.
ppl overlook basic fundamentals all time. I can safely say I've been struggling with getting my saws right for a long time. thank you zen world! i always learn something new everytime i watch a video :)
i was just getting into making Future Bass and always thought my chords sounded loose and empty. But after this tutorial ,it made my Supersaws much Better! (I also recommend Gentle Compression and Warm Saturation (Very Less) to get that closed and tight feel while still maintaining the wideness - I sound like an idiot).
Your straight-face expression from 1:30-1:40 when stating whether people utilize your tips was hilarious XD thanks for the tip BTW! definitely be putting this to use.
thank you man, i always had that problem, now i can make some... idk, i'm not really good with any specific genre :( But i'm still a beginner, so... nothing to worry about
nice tutorial. it sounds different than a usual supersaw indeed. i wouldn't call the highend of a supersaw "harsh" though. i think supersaws are some of the most mellow sounds on earth when it comes to sounds that go through the whole spectrum
Hi Zen! Thanks for this tutorial ! Really needed this one aha, can you do a layering tutorial ? How do you chose your synth, how do you know which one will fit with another one, bc when I try synth, I never hear the one I want, it's always 2 or 3 synths that are going to be good together and not alone, that would be for chords (supersaw too) and lead !
Got a great Idea for you. How to do that big boom on drops on the first beat out of 4 beats. For example on ellis - how does it feel or his remix of melody by lost frequencies.
Zen you are the man! I watch and have learned so much. Probably super newb and basic but I am having a tough time with making good shakers. Do you think you could bless us with a quick tutorial?
Hey man I was wondering if you can make a video making a Maddix style drop/track? He's killing it right now and it would be great to get your perspective on how he creates his mixdown.
2:09 That's why are tutorials made in a first place, to teach basic stuff 😄 If it would be useless, people wouldn't watch it 😄 Keep doing these awesome tutorials Zen 😉 Edit: In fact, at the beginning of my music production, you felt so advanced, cause i didn't even knew what an oscilator or ADSR are. So i was watching InTheMix (And i still do) Who is by no means, bad music teacher 😉
Hey bro, wondering if you could make a vid on how to make your bass and sub centered, clear, and strong. Listen to this track “Stomp” by Cut Snake and you’ll see what I mean. Thanks!
I get it. Here's the thing. The original "white noise" from the saws is phasey. It's going to get weird every time you change chords. If you have something like a hi-hat going or anything else that's got a lot of high frequencies, you'll probably get some weird masking going on. Adding white noise gets you the highs back but without the phase and resonating issues.
I tested this out with U-He Diva in Divine Mode and the digital OSC in High Quality mode after watching. I didn’t think it sounded too bad at all. I mean Diva still brings pretty much any computer to a grinding halt like a head-on collision, but in the few seconds before your DAW starts begging for mercy and freaking air bags deploy from your audio interface, it sounds aight lol.
When you finish the deep house sample pack, (which i will most likely get), could you do something on progressive house like in the style of dubvision or dash berlin? Maybe a start to finish, or just a single tutorial?
Before i heard the result i was a bit sceptic when you said it will sound a lot cleaner. as white noise is just atonal noise, its basically adding dirt. but the result is pretty good, indeed it sounds cleaner somehow, which is amazing.
Considering that supersaws get their sound due to the phase interaction, I would say that nasty high end is just a result of said phasing. On another note, this is a good tip for any kind of synth layering. Noise from every synth preset you use can easily stack up.
Hey Zen would you make a video that how to produce music even without any monitor equipment at all. coz some people have some money problem or whatever other issues. so i hope you'll understand & I saw a video about sonar works in which if you are using headphones whether it is monitor or not the sonar works software corrects the audio frequency level like if your headphone is bass boosted or lows are boosted so if your have particular configuration for your headphone in sonar works you can select that it will correct your audio frequency level the lows/mids/high will be in straight like in monitor headphones have. May be you should do research in it and explain to us in better way.
Then you should start working if your old enough..... (assuming your not working right now, as well as assuming your kinda young), then save up the money and buy it. thats what i did and its paying off
@@ericevans7304 that's also absolutely true but still i want to know is there any way or anything or even you can't earn a lot of money in single day you have to work a lot until you buy the equipment.
You should do a video on Audien's supersaws, which are kind of an extension of this. Essentially, you do this before running it through a compressor (he uses ones like waves' mazerati to add character) to glue them together, and then has both another layer that's widened, and a "fart bass" layer, that's then all mixed together. You hear that basic technique in a lot of anjuna songs as well, it's one of the bases of that "sound" that label has.
Is there anything you would recommend doing to the low end ? Im side chaining a chord stack and I'm getting a nasty mid to low end white noise sounding sound. Please save me Zen Senpai! Ps.. I tried to Eq it out but its not working.

What label may I ask?
@@namavoid3266 Burning Owl Records. The pre-order is out now and the EPs getting released November 23rd!
Thanks! I was asking because I've been looking for small record labels to spread my own music to. I'll definitely check it out!
@@namavoid3266 They're pretty niche-ey they do synthwave and EBM but i mean if you do those genres then by all means check them out!
Any building is built on a good foundation! Good stuff!
I did this last night and literally my supersaws sound sooooo much leaner, I’m going this for the rest of my life thank you ily
Legend, You nail it everytime Zen
You are the best reliable source when it comes EDM production info, in my opinion🔥
bruh zen is happiest person in this world
This was actually pretty awesome. The humor makes it more enjoyable, and the tutorial itself is extremely relevant.
Nice tip
WOW. Thank you zen!!

Very helpful thank you 🙏
I find that layering pink noise for this kind of things gives it a more natural curve and sound more pleasing to the year.
This tip made my life 😍🤗
i dont think you need that much body language at the intro, but this video is very helpful, love it
super good tut. good for any beginners up to advanced producers. cool vid man!
Zen never sucks! Thank you so much!
Thank you, just tested this out in a project I've been struggling with. Works great!

This Channel really helps me a lot and I believe that a lot more too, keep it up Zen, u're amazing
thank you man, i always had that problem, now i can make some... idk, i'm not really good with any specific genre :( But i'm still a beginner, so... nothing to worry about
Great video thanks for the tip
Huh... Never thought about using white noise like that. Good tip man!
whats with the "huh...."
would love to see your take on some complextro!
I just use 3x osc then widen it , but that control over the white noise envelope is new for me, Thanks

Do u know how to use desser as replacement for eq to remove resonating frequency
Bruh you were sent from the gods 🙏🏻🙏🏻 You’re by far one of the most reliable source of information for an edm producer
Huge ! Thanks for sharing 👍
Zen! Can you do a video on making the beats of Dom Dolla - Take it?
It’s super groovey with little complexities here and there
Can u do a tutorial on the Ott?
Man you always amaze me with your knowledge. You are really awesome Zen.
That is also a good EQ cut for Leads and Chords in general to allow the hi-hats to shine through
Hola, deberías hacer éste video en español.
Really interesing thank you

Is there any rule that I should use this preset only on bigroom or progressive hous?
Great tip!
Ok I definitely see what you're talking about with that phasing high end sound now
Thank you!

Can you make a tutorial about basses that “speak” (love it how Jay Eskar speaks about music)
For example in future bounce
Would love to see some videos on how to make music like Gammer
looking fit my dude. great tutorial
Sounds smooth, not annoying (like some many SSs).
This was another thing I needed thank you Zen
i think audien said he did this but dislikes the white noise from sylenth1 and uses ANA for whitenoise layer
working on a future bass track right now, Imma try this
Hey man I was wondering if you can make a video making a Maddix style drop/track? He's killing it right now and it would be great to get your perspective on how he creates his mixdown.
Also he has a masterclass coming out tomorrow so it'd be interesting to see your 5 takeaways from it!
Helpful
This tip is useful for just about any synth that has harsh high frequency’s.
Why non of your direct links work in description
I master on the normal eq the highs on 7k and then on fab i do a highcut on 12-14k .. depends on the lead.. sounds also super clean :)

Omg this is what im looking for for over a year
Forget those haters! You kill it!
Hey Zen, I dont understand why you use the Fisher track on every intro instead of use a own production :/
Thanks for this awesome tutorial :D

beep beep you ain't basic! thanks for the content!
next one how to layer saws to make them dense and heavy?
Kroto Zoa pretty much answered ur own question
@@thechoiceisyaws Well I mentioned the result, not the process
Easier and more affective trick is to create pink noise, it balances the sound altogether running through the low to high spectrum.
Zen,you are so good man and haters always gonna hate ;),if u know what i mean man
best teacher E V E R
How you said “Illenium” caught me by surprise😂
Same bro
Dang.. why didn't i think of that
