My all time go to advice for newlyweds is to always focus on your self in an argument. I have never won an argument by pointing my finger at my husband and declaring all his wrong doings. But when I stop to evaluate myself and find something I did wrong to apologize for, that's when his attitude changes and we can come back together to work on things. You can't change others, but you can always better yourself. Marriage is beautiful! #10years #4kids

You are beautiful people. I’ve been married 43 years. Life isn’t perfect in a perfect world, however I never new my life would be so great and fulfilled.
This video is awesome! I became a widow at a very young age and I would really tell my engaged self: after getting married, stop getting angry at the little things. It won't make you a slave to just take the plate from the table to the dishwasher where your husband left it, it will only make you bitter if you get angry or even. Don't try to change him - accept him with all his flaws. Take lots of photos as one day this will be all you have left.
Well that is really sad :( thanks for sharing this and reminding us all that life is short and we shouldn't waste time on unimportant things. On the other hand, if someone consistently forgets to help you it can be a sign of a lack of respect, and you just picking up after the other person can be you losing respect for yourself too.
36 years and still very much loving each other. Communication is key. Go around life's corners together. Wait for each other. Speak words of appreciation and encouragement frequently. Be best friends.
Happy Anniversary! I’ve been a widow for 35 years.. My only advice you already follow: open communication is key. Savor every day. I hope you continue to be happy and grow old together. ❤️
Best advice that has helped my partner and I: you are a team. It is you and your partner against the world, not against each other. Very important to always remember.
18 years in: My husband and I wake up every day and say, I marry you. And it's a beautiful reminder of the covenant we made. Also, try to be the one who forgives first. My husband is so much better at this than me, and I am a better person because of him.
Been married 5 years. Best advice I can share: love is not always a feeling. It's a choice you make. New feelings come, old feeling go, but choosing to love them and just choosing them everytime will just make your partnership stronger. Okay one more: rethink your expectations, especially when frustrated. Look to yourself first and boldly challenge your own thinking before accidentally assuming how the other person should act, then talk it through together when calm.
I was really confused cause I couldn’t tell if you had filmed this previously... cause the transitions were so seem less and the conversation was so natural lol
There was not a single piece left at my wedding and we ordered more than one piece per guest since I was hoping to take some home. I think it depends on the style of your wedding and who makes the cake.
We had a Ben & Jerry's ice cream cake and by the time it was starting to get soft, there were only 3 or 4 servings left, so the venue staff helped us finish it off 😊 there was no way to transport any portion home without it melting for any "eat it on your first anniversary" type traditions ... but any time we want to be romantic and eat "some of our wedding cake" we can just go buy a pint or two of Ben & Jerry's
If you did that everyone would see the lack of cake and then rush to get a piece leaving no cake left and then people asking where's the cake I want some! Lol
Advice to myself: All those little details from the wedding that mattered dont actually matter. And the things that went wrong end up being a funny story later. Roll with it.
Put money away (even if it is only $20/month) and don’t touch it until your kids go to college (or save it for a trip for yourselves when they graduate). If you can’t be civil in a conversation have a prepared statement to tell your SO you need space/time to process before talking. Such as: I can’t trust myself to talk right now, give me 20-30 minutes and we can circle back to talk. Make Date Night a priority (minimum once a month). You don’t have to go out to dinner. Fix sandwiches and walk around the park or around the block. Just get rid of the outside world (phone, RV, Internet, neighbors and family) and spend time together. Life is rough, but you made a commitment to each other. Honor and respect it! (34+ years married)
My husband and I are coming up on 21 years next month, and one of the things I've realized is that you don't get to a point in your marriage where you've made it. You can't tale your relationship for granted, you need to work on it and prioritize it. And if something is bothering you, talk about it (or write a letter if you can't do confrontation), don't let it fester.
ditto...id say "don't rush on kids" we got pregnant 6 months after marriage and they've been back to back since then 😳 We love them dearly but we never got a ton of alone time before kids
Been with my husband 11 years and if I could tell my younger self anything about the relationship it'd be to lighten up, save up as much money as possible, and don't worry about a big wedding with everyone around
This was hilarious. Married 33 years here...2 adult kids, now we raise dogs.🤣 Life truly does throw curveballs...forgiveness, communication, space for each partner to be themselves. And lots of love.
27+ years of marriage and 3 amazing kids who are the kindest, most responsible young adults ever. They are my people I would want with me in an emergency or disaster b/c they have an amazing ability to remain calm. Of course that is what happens when you teach your kids not to panic and they watched their mom who has a lifetime of patience for everyday (because God chose to put that in me). -Pray and read God's Word every day -Don't sweat the small stuff -Keep a "this too shall pass" attitude -Give your worry to God -Remember that life is too short to be angry, lose patience, or let things bug you -Don't be a slave to debt. You will miss out on sooooo much if you are. -Get a will and trust written up -Get more life insurance than you think will be sufficient so that your spouse can have less weight on his or her shoulders if you should pass from this life
Almost 10 years for me, and we also read the Bible and pray everyday! There is an abundance of knowledge to apply to our everyday lives, nice to hear you do this too! ❤
I'm dying of laughter over the zip tops, my husband and I are newly married expecting our 1st , just watched a review on those things, the excitement is unmatched Haha Loved this video!
Cherish every moment with your kids...they grow up SUPER FAST! My girls are 18 and 21 now, but they were just 5 and 8 last week, it seems! I REALLY, REALLY miss them at that age...and I was a super involved dad who stayed home with them...and I still miss the time. As you've been told often, it happens TOO FREAKIN FAST!!!

I would tell my younger self just keep distance from the in laws only see them when my spouse wanted to, not on my free time to become “close” to them. And when they argue or disagree with you don’t say anything ever just ignore them! 😂😂
I would tell my younger self to cut his relatives off from contact with the first time they treated me poorly. (It was the first time I met them.) It was how it worked out anyway, they don't like me.
We celebrate our 24th anniversary next week. My advice to my engaged self is don't burden your hubby with unfair and unrealistic expectations. Let him be who he is and you both wil become better people after raising your kids together. We are happier now than at years 6-10, which were rough. Also, the love life continues and gets better after the kids are grown. Never knew that. Never knew a lot of things. Best advice -- marry a kind person who believes in family and marriage, and then don't give up. Ever. Best is yet to be. You just don't know what it will look like. Love is really everything.
Dudes. You really outdid yourselves. I am married since 1980. Steve developed ms in his 20’s. It’s been a journey and then some. Two grown kids and two beautiful granddaughters. Here’s my advice..’talk to one another as if u are a stranger on the phone. Don’t forget the niceties and compliments..always and I mean always be kind and lastly kiss one another first on New Years Eve! *Melissa. 💕
Oh Melissa you and Steve sound incredible. Thank you for this advice! It’s so true how easy it is to change tones when talking to your most important people in your life VS strangers
I'd tell my younger self, buy more toilet paper!!! 2020 is survivable!! Beauty fades on the outside, but the heart stays true!!! Dishes and laundry never end, so don't stress about it!!! Take time to flirt with each other ❤️ Happy 16 years to my hubby and I .
Totally agree with all of these. Especially the taking time to flirt. So easy to get caught up in all the to do’s!! But maybe a bidet instead of so much toilet paper 😂
Hahaha this is sooo good. Been married 3 years (together for 14). I’d tell my younger self that she made the right choice not spending so much on a wedding. She won’t regret adding expensive extra stuff :)
I would tell my younger self this. You and yours will hit rock bottom but when you do, remember your faith, you don't always have to be strong and most all BELIEVE in yourself because you can do it!!

That's the truth!
"Oh my gosh! We live in an RV? WE'RE POOR!!" I'm so dead 🤣🤣🤣
My daughter's name is Hanna. She calls it 'hannatizer '. Well she was 3 when this started so it is cute.
Aww!
So does my daughter whose name is not Hanna. I think it’s a combination of hand and sanitizer...
My 3 year olds do this too!! It’s so funny 😂
Our three year old calls it "soapatizer"
And slow down, you will get there. You have time and it will happen.
Love ALL OF THIS 👏🏼 🙏🏼
I agree with all of that. Except I don't have kids so likely that money would be going to well, retirement I supposed lol
@@parisinthe30sx they said save it for a trip 😂 but I suppose it will go to retirement if you dont like to travel
Thankkk youuuuu nice to hear some clear and specific useful instructions (advice)
That is a very creative way of doing promo! You got me conviced and I didn't even know you were doing the promo in the first place! Great video!!!
"let it grow, let it grow- oh wait, they don't know that reference yet."
😁 that and Cocomelon
🤣🤣🤣🤣 The acting is 🙌🙌🙌!
You here??? The World's so small 😄🐜🐜🐜
I would tell our younger selves to slow down! We were in such a rush to do everything and we didn't need to be.
So so true. That’s how our 50 states trip was
ditto...id say "don't rush on kids" we got pregnant 6 months after marriage and they've been back to back since then 😳
We love them dearly but we never got a ton of alone time before kids
Long engagements are okay ! I understand that now.
Wise!
"This is the thing you're excited about?"
So very relatable 😩😂😂😂
My parents go to bed at 8. it's a relief to know they are not sick, just in their early 40s
Eh...late 40s here. They aren't sleeping 😂
-Pray and read God's Word every day
-Don't sweat the small stuff
-Keep a "this too shall pass" attitude
-Give your worry to God
-Remember that life is too short to be angry, lose patience, or let things bug you
-Don't be a slave to debt. You will miss out on sooooo much if you are.
-Get a will and trust written up
-Get more life insurance than you think will be sufficient so that your spouse can have less weight on his or her shoulders if you should pass from this life
This is advice is so so solid. Thank you!!
All very well said!
This is totally the playbook of folks married past 20 years😂❣️
Almost 10 years for me, and we also read the Bible and pray everyday! There is an abundance of knowledge to apply to our everyday lives, nice to hear you do this too! ❤
Wait what? I was kinda agreeing but the last point bugged me. Preparing for my own death could be useful, it's just really weird.
"It's 8 we gotta call it."
I felt that 🤣
I'm dying of laughter over the zip tops, my husband and I are newly married expecting our 1st , just watched a review on those things, the excitement is unmatched Haha Loved this video!
Love, forgive, have no expectations, and keep the Lord at the center💙oh! & don’t share bad things with your parents! keep the family bonds strong💙
Smoothest product placement I've ever seen. I actually want those Zip Tops. Happy Anniversary!
You guys asked for gems and here it goes: You don’t have to be millionaire to be happy. Stop thinking that and enjoy your family 😘
haha oh we agree w/ you. we're definitely not millionaires and are definitely happy ❤️
I wish I could tell my engaged self to just elope or just go to the courthouse and a nice dinner after and use the money towards a house. 😩
“No it’s fine, because it has to be”, said while laughing. ...effortless wisdom that just came out at the end there 🙌
I love how they just grazed over the quarantining lol
This is seriously the best video. You should record yourself asking your 2030 selves questions for next time.
Ohhhhhhh LOVE THIS IDEA
We will be waiting for this😊😊
Oh yes!! Future Jurgys💯🔥
@@millicentkimaita2481 YES!
I would tell myself that having a baby is harder than you could imagine but of course worth it. Take time for yourselves as a couple.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.. I have a feeling there's more to your thinking...
Is that useful for your past self to hear?
Is that actionable or does it inform any decision-making in your relationship?
Asking for everyone who's here for the advice past of the comments.
That was really fun
Haha imagining you and Leslie meeting your future selves next to Zack’s statue
@@TheJurgys that would be solid! Super confusing to explain.
Engaged girl here SOOOO excited and thankful, reading all the comments thoroughly...!! Thanks so much for opening this amazing discussion , will take note of all the wise advices here! 💕💕💕 Happy anniversary, you two rock!
I love how they tried the best not to tell them about Corona, because they didn’t want to give a spoiler ❤️😫😫
This is so good. It’s refreshing to see creatives are doing mirror work with self reflection within a union!!! Love this
I am engaged annnd whoever said they dont care about the center pieces OMGSH THANK YOU!! Do less God bless - trey Kennedy.
Yay-Trey Kennedy fan!
Hilary, do you know about The Chosen series?
I care
dear person reading this, ur so loved and worthy, stay safe🦋
Hey Jesus loves you and died for you!!
6 years married. Forgiveness is possible after a heartbreak and marriage is even better afterwards when both work through it together 🥰🙌
I would tell my younger self just keep distance from the in laws only see them when my spouse wanted to, not on my free time to become “close” to them. And when they argue or disagree with you don’t say anything ever just ignore them! 😂😂
Can totally relate!
I would tell my younger self to cut his relatives off from contact with the first time they treated me poorly. (It was the first time I met them.) It was how it worked out anyway, they don't like me.
Yall need to do this every 5-10 years of your lives together what a fun memento
Hubs and I have been together for 29 years married 18 ... Best ride of our lives.... Just turned 41, and 42!!! 😜
Was not looking for this at all, but zip tops are going on my Christmas list now...hahahahhaha
Hahaha we got your back
The husband looks so much wiser after 6 years 🤣
We celebrate our 24th anniversary next week.
Ok so I live under a rock, I’m genuinely mind blown over the zip top containers! What is this sorcery?!?!?
I’m pretty interested in the lidless containers
This video is so great!!! And yes. Zip tops are very exciting 😂
😂❤️❤️ya you guys know!
I had no clue what this amazing invention was
Didn’t know about this!
This is so well done... I can't wrap my mind around how they did this!!!
This showed up on my recommended.... amazing!!
We’re STOKED you took the time to watch it! ❤️
Oh this is like a couples version of Julie Nolke's series! This was very cute
“It’s 2020, things get interesting”... Mannnn so true 😂😂😭. Loved the video!!
I would tell my younger self this.
You and yours will hit rock bottom but when you do, remember your faith, you don't always have to be strong and most all BELIEVE in yourself because you can do it!!
Happy 6th! Anniversary!!! Duuuude, Ya'll gotta do that every five years or something. What a great idea!
Oooooh love this idea! Hopefully younger Nellie will be more excited about our living situation 😂
I'm actually excited about zip top tho 😂😂
They’re expensive 😅 I saw them at HEB this week.
@@blessedbythebest1003 but you won’t lose the tops! That set is all you need for like 3 years.. pretty cool, think how much you spend on zip bags and containers every year
@@kelseyknock2356 hmmm🤔 you know what... you got a great point. Hehe INVESTMENT! 🤲🏼
“Zip- Top” ... got it. 🧐 Added to registry.
Loved the video! Thanks!
Married almost 40 years. It's definitely a journey that you'll be figuring out as you go along. Acceptance, forgiveness, and commitment are essential. Hang in there. It's worth it.
This was SO clever. Happy Anniversary to you too! God Bless and Protect Y’all!✝️🕊❤️
seriously miss you guys!!
also agree on the Zip Top
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Miss you guys BAD!
Awesome video, laughed a lot at the relatability! A little gem: always be willing to consider. Ideas, plans, dreams, goals, listen and chew on an idea before you throw out a response. We’ve made some amazing things happen in our 9 years by being willing to consider’. Thanks for sharing!
Single. And I love this video. You guys have brought such a more realistic yet loving and respectful way to show a modern marriage than I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you.
Jams of wisdom. Always. I'm really grateful for all of her humor and the way it hits the really important things in life. It's healing af.
Married 44 years, but pretty sure our younger selves would not have listened! Lol How about, "Just don't give up!" 💗😊
I needed this video. I'm engaged with a newborn and it feels hard sometimes but I know I'm going to look back and realise it really was the best.
Amazing editing. Very well done. So many times I forgot that there were only 2 people
My advice...communication and keep lovin’ each other! You two have great energy.
