basically when the melody is slow and catchy, i can find it in the guitar even if i dont sing."my neighbors might get mad if i sing😂.. but im having trouble finding the chords of the song. im also having a problem hearing the bass clearly. hope you also make tutorial about finding the chords.

Hey I actually just recorded some videos talking about finding chord progressions. Hope to share them with you soon. Need to edit them first though! I'll also keep your specific question in mind. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I find melodies and solos much easier than chord progressions. I've seen some musicians who can pick out the chords after listening to a song once, I should say they pick out the scale number eg that's the IV chord or the bVII etc rather than whether its A or D. It's a much prized skill and invaluable when jamming with other guitarists and they start playing something, you can join in easily. Neil, great that you're making a video addressing this topic and look forward to hearing your take on this. Others talk about the color of a chord or the sense of tension, I don't have that level of awareness although while practicing Solfege I feel more tension with Ti than the other Solfege syllables.

So how do you know which scale to use? Is it based on the key, or...

Yes, most of the time for pop music you'd use the scale that matches the key. Eg. C major scale for the key of C major
