  • Everybody knows that when you quit smoking, the nicotine and carbon monoxide disappear out of your body, your risk of heart disease decreases, and you don't stink as bad.
But there was a lot of stuff that I didn't know was going to happen to me when I quit smoking, and I share each of them in today's video.

Read the book " easy way to quit smoking" you can smoke while you read the book and by the end of it you're ready to throw them out. I'm 1 year smoke free and didn't think I'd ever say that. Best of luck!

What's it's been working for me was an un intended result of rebooting myself. I am not longer the same kid that started smoking 30 years ago. It was the last reminder of that little person that has been rebooted so many times. Are you the same? After all you went trough? Smoking doesn't makes sense anymore

Stop doing it. People can quit heroin, and no, cigarettes are not more addictive.
This is your life! That’s it, if you don’t stop it will be a year or so given your health issues. Your body has -already-given out. Thanks to modern medicine you aren’t in the ground. Go suck down your last cig.
Tear them up and the pack as well, flush them down the toilet.
You can do this, think of the worst you felt during this sickness, come on you’ve got this. When you look back you will fell so disgusted with what you did all those years, but that will keep you on track.

Cigarettes and alcohol addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

From my experience it really works excellently! It doesnt even need to be a full hit. With potent shrooms 2-3 small ones will still make a clear difference. It will be a few hour cosy rumbling moment around rest time, but afterwards its just calm and you feel amazing and gain your freedom. Psilocybin is different dudes, its the only "treatment" I would recommend to someone who genuinely wants to get better. There is no addiction, withdrawal, or negative side effects. It's just pure healing., far more effective than any anti-depressant. You can thank me later,

I was horrifically depressed since childhood. It was relentless. I assumed it would ultimately end me somehow. About twelve years ago I randomly accepted the offer from a friend of a few doses of mushrooms. I did them two consecutive nights alone. First night was pretty mild. The second night? Wow. I saw my depression from every angle, realized much. Next day: depression totally gone. Never came back, never coming back. It's like it's a forest far away I can remember, and could probably find again with enough effort, but it has zero impact on anything in my life or mind. They honestly saved my life and improved it immensely. I never did them again, either. I wish there was a good, organized way to administer them to people who would benefit from them.

I smoked heavily in my youth, and quit cold turkey 45 years ago. No help, no support groups, no clinical data, I just quit. Mr. Skoyles is right on the button on every point. Especially the amount of time that the habit requires of you. What a terrific presentation this is. Nicotine is a horrific addiction, and this video is one of the most powerful anti-smoking presentations I have ever seen. Chris Skoyles should take this act on the road.

Hello Chris. I am American and I quit smoking much later in life than you did. When I quit smoking it was in February of 2008, which was 15 years and 3 months ago. At the time I was 58 years and three months old.
Fir a long time I had never even tried to quit because when I first started smoking I was quite young, 18 years old. I smoked because I wanted to lose at least 42 pounds (in English weight 3 stone) of ugly fat and it worked! It controlled my appetite and I did not realize at the time how addictive the nicotine in the cigarettes would be! I thought I could control the number of cigarettes to no more than five a day, one in the morning and one after each meal and one at night, but I was wrong!
My appetite and craving for nicotine escalated and I was soon doing a whopping THIRTY CIGARETTES EVERY DAY!
It got to the point where I would get up in the middle of the night to smoke and when I realized I was out of cigarettes I went out in the middle of a terrible snowstorm in the freezing cold to go to an all night bat and grill (American equivalent of a PUB) to buy a pack of cigarettes and in those places they charged a whole $10.00 for that one pack!
My non-smoking husband who was alive then told me I was an ADDICT, and being a nicotine addict is no better than being an alcoholic or narcotics addict!
As it happened, I caught pneumonia from going out in that freezing cold not quite warmly dressed and the pneumonia made it impossible to pick up a cigarette and light it up without chocking!
I got the pneumonia cleared up but I did help loosen my addiction to nicotine. As soon as I was better my urge yo smoke came back but I decided to try the nicotine patch to help me quit smoking. I did not want to be dependent on nicotine anymore,
It worked. The last time I smoked was at 10 minutes to midnight on February 24, 2008 and today is May 15, 2923!
And I am 73 years old and my lung capacity is the same as my age.

Jesus Christ delivered me from drinking and smoking. I was a steady, dedicated drunk daily for 15 years. I tried to stop many times and felt like I was dying every time. One time I had set in my mind that I would follow Jesus and nothing was going to stand in my way (drinking) and I put my alcohol down and never had Even one withdrawal, never a shake or tremor and never another craving. I was so happy to be able to walk past the beer aisle at the store and not feel a strong pull to buy and drink. The thing was to not only ask Jesus to help me but to choose to follow Him.

I am a born again Christian and did not understand why I was still smoking. I smoked my last cigarette not knowing that the next I would quit. I'm well into my 8th week of this current quit. I say current because this is probably the 5th time I have quit in the last 40 years. In the past, whenever I got to this point, I would always tell myself that because I only smoked about 6 ciggies a day that the risk/reward was in my favor. The only problem was that I thought about the next ciggie constantly and I had to exhibit extreme will power all day. I'm watching this to stay on track cause I despise being imprisoned and I know that I am over the worst! Good Luck to all!

I had a friend die in June. He burned up his lungs with drugs, booze and cigarettes. Two days later I quit. It took two days to quit for good with nicotine gum. I smoked twice as long and twice as much as you Chris. It's four months now and I'm done for good. I've noticed some of the things you mentioned, but I just don't think about it anymore. This is so true. I completely resonate with you when you mentioned about the coffee. It seems like I could not have coffee without cigarette, or couldn't even drink alcohol without having a cigarette to go along with it. Just could not have one without the other. But I am determined to put all of that aside so that I'm not too easily distracted . I also love coloring books for adults that relieve stress. I love shading patterns for mandalas and different things. Thank you for your video. Your video is one of the best ones I've seen so far ! I quit for 2 weeks, which is a record for me so far. It's hard, and I've been trying for 4 months; I will quit for a week at a time (so I know I can do it) but then start again, and a couple of my recurring self-recriminations are that I waste so much time doing it and avoid people I care about because of my addiction. It's currently February 26, 2024 and I'm 3 weeks into not smoking anymore. I started this journey because I couldn't make it up a flight of 8 steps without feeling winded. I just grew tired of how I felt, the smoker's "hangover," and the way my lungs felt. Plus, I made a promise to my kids, and I raised them to believe that "A promise is a promise and you don't break a promise." Continuing to smoke meant I'm breaking a promise I made. The bigger picture regarding my kids is that if I keep smoking my kids will end up seeing me slowly dying, and I couldn't bring myself to see that in my mind. So, if I'm going to be a better father to my kids, I need to get my head out of my ars and smarten up!

Hello, Chris and thank you for your inspiring work! :)
This was actually the very first one of your videos that I came across when a couple of months ago I began my research on the subject. It really stood out for me and also was the one that motivated me the most to take the first steps in mentally preparing myself for the journey I was about to take on. Your messages are powerful, informative and really make you think and believe that there is life after quitting smoking, lol. Well, smoking a pack and a half a day, I used to be convinced that was not the case. Of course, it turns out there is life without cigarettes, a much better one even and so worth the struggle. At the beginning of my quitting I actually felt great. If we call the addiction a “monster”, it was as if the “monster” was sleeping blissfully and not bothering me. As weeks went by, it “awoke” suddenly and around the fourth month was when I had the most difficult time, but thank God overcame it. I quit nearly 5 months ago now, after being a smoker for 13 years, and I feel good, hopeful to keep it up.
So, I just want to let you know that what you do is very helpful and encouraging and I sincerely thank you! You are wonderful! :)
Wishing you all the best, Rads

The best way to give up smoking is to tell nobody your doing so if you fail many times you dont have the added
Pressure of thinking your a failure theres no pressure if its only you thats making the decision not to smoke

Hey I'm on day 81 and I'd like to say thanks a lot you helped me so much in the early days.
One way that helped too was to watch people who had cancer from smoking giving a warning to others, it scared the shit out of me but worked.

The toilet bit...lol that was me as well! I also had this weird problem of all of a sudden coughing but it's like I was trying to vomit but I honestly had no intention of vomiting but the cough was so bad that I would dry heave. Thanks for these videos because they are totally easy to relate to... for anyone who was a former smoker!

tomorrow is 2 weeks cigarettes free for me, I had a big urge so I came on UA-cam to find support, I'm still tortured in my head like a part of my brain says "just one, just a last one" and another part says "omg i'm so proud of myself, i feel better, i can do it". Anyway thank you for the video, it helps right now, I won't give up tonight

Irmelin Johansen Hi i'm on UA-cam that's why I'm quick, thank you for the advices, I still have urges of course but I developped a weird habit, everytime I want to smoke I look at smokers videos, I know it's pretty weird but when I look at them I find it disgusting, I can imagine the awful smell in my head, and I try to turn my urge into a feeling of freedom from this stupid habit, again yes it's weird, but it works for me

      @@francisca4478 cool idear..(:
Then the reason why people start again, i have tried that myself ones, is your brain suddenly and slowly convinces you that you can be a party smoker, or just one cigaret a week and before you know it you smoke again, so be aware.
I did sometimes when i got past the fase your in, stand next to smokers and found that to be satisfying to smell thw smoke.
Be aware and i wish you a long and healthy life.....(:

I quit smoking for 5.5 years and got back earlier this year. Been smoking for a year now and failing at quitting. I'm planning to quit again on Dec 20th and i hope it'll be successful this time. I live in Syria and lived through all the war, it just was very stressful and i couldn't do it without a cigarette. I hope i can this time. I'm planning to watch all your videos from now till the next 4 days and quit afterwards.
You are such great inspiration. Thank you Chris ❤

I need prayers for strength to get through withdrawal. Just going 3 hours without a smoke and I become hysterical, angry, sad, confused, paranoid. Physical issues as well, feeling sick, headache, dizzy, heart racing, fatigue, like I was dying.
