How Much Did it Cost to Fix a Highest Mileage Maserati? - Quattroporte GTS - PT8
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 жов 2024
- How many times can one car break? Turns out, many. In this episode, we deal with more breakdowns, do more repairs, do high-speed Autobahn stress testing, make the Quattroporte shiny again, and finally do a cost breakdown for this project.

21:14 That‘s me driving the car on the right! xD
I was so happy seeing and hearing you man!
I gotta say it sounds absolutely proper, it really made my day!❤️
Haha, nice to know it sounds good at full chat from the outside on the Autobahn. :)
@@M539Restorations expensive car. I think the 4 door Maserati is not neceserally a good looking vehicle, engine sounds okay. The grand turismo is a better vibe, two doors. I like that. Much appreciated for the comfort.
@@nothingtoseehere2013bro shut up, it’s good looking( you don’t have taste) plus it sounds amazing. You don’t know crap of what you’re talking about the note in the exhaust is beautiful
Nice Ford Fiesta :D is it an St Line?

Recalling a bad batch of dipsticks is possibly the most Italian car thing ever.
The “assembling the ikea drawers” part was very funny!!
It being edited *exactly* like the car stuff was very fun, too.
That bad dipstick needs to be framed
This and project Fresno pushed me to hop on patreon, just couldn't wait that extra day to see what happened :)
As a owner of the exact same car for 7 years, it has been so much fun watching all the 8 episodes of this project but at the same time it is quite scary to realize that all these issues can come to me as well.
Anyhow, I am so glad that it is back to its life!
And you are right. The exhaust sound and the way it drives is probably the only reasons why I am still keeping the car.
Stop servicing it especially stop changing oil and if you will change it once per few years use the one that doesnt meet the manufacturer spec and you will have the same issues as the one above in few years. If you will be servicing it and changing oil frequently with proper spec and quiality I doubt that anything more will surprise you than already did after 7 years of driving. These cars do quite big mileages without serious issues when serviced properly.
Sell it while you can dude...
3k benefit, for so much time spent on this car, is way more than reasonable.
Very great price, considering the amount of brand new parts, and the skill of the person who replaced them.
Hope it will get sold very soon, so this car gets a new life started !
Amazing job Streten, once again.
The 8HP has a safe output shaft speed limit of about 8000 rpm, past that speed, the oil pump built in to the transmission will start to cavitate and cause the transmission to starve of oil (and explode). Original TCU had the correct failsafe programmed in. From what I can see online, the GTS has a final drive of 4.10, which means in 7th gear at redline, you are at an unsafe output shaft speed 8333rpm.
But the 8HP oil pump is connected to the input shaft.
is this a problem for all manufactures who use 8hp trans, like bmw? or is it specific to Maserati
The car should be able to do 250kmh…
"It does sound good when it works...." ... and that right there is the perfect summary of Italian automotive engineering.
The entertainment value and physical effort from 0 to 10 is 100. Glad to see the Maserati is finally finished, well done Sreten!
Respect for the patience you have for this car, one problem after the other. Unbelievable
The island assembly was way more pleasurable than I care to admit. Please do more of them streten!!
Fixed and finished.
Didn't think I'd get to hear that. But you did it. What a madman.
I just watched one of the pre-eminent BMW UA-camrs build a kitchen island. And enjoyed it. Good job, Sreten 😄The Maserati epic has been ... well, epic. Unbelievable, but also funny. To those of us who haven't had to work on the thing and sink money into it. Epic. Truly epic.
I'm really happy for you, finally being done and selling the car. I'm 100% sure now when you'll work on properly engineered cars you'll be grateful
The kitchen island part is edited beautifully. What a soundscape.
Hello I'm glad that this journey is over for you. Sad that it didn't bring much views. I hope that you will try with other brand like lexus, something that wasn't made by Italian engineer 😄 great video as always, cheers!
Maserati El Kaputto ^^ I guess that's just the beginning with this beauty (it will break a lot more)....Props to Sreten for fixing it :)
why? because it is italian?
Congratulations Sreten on completing the Maserati-it was definitely a handful!! Thank you for taking us along this journey😇
Fantastic episode - great to see the Maserati completed and great value at 40,00 Euro's. Your perseverance at completing this project is outstanding.
Congratulations! The car is now in top condition. It is very elegant and that woooosh sound it makes when you accelerate and film outside is otherworldly.
This is like a Germany-based Hoovies Garage, but Sreten is Tyler Hoover AND the Wizard.
At 40:34 you need a Kreg jig, look it up!
What a relief! Also loved the kitchen island break 😂 Great work Sreten! Please no more Maseratis anytime soon.
This car should be called Maseratti Quatroporte PTSD
You never disappoint Cars and humor!! Best of both worlds.
That kitchen island isn't going anywhere! What a solid base! Creative work with the backside as well!
A Massacratti Quatrobroken Gran Trash Scrap. You’re a real brave, tenacious man !! The saga reminds me a remake of the movie The Money Pit…
Your pain with this car is relatable... I've had this exact issue with my motorcycle, which has needed a new ECU, chain, sprocket, fork seals, plastics and spark plugs, and right when everything seemed fine, it blew up yet another ECU. When things are good, it's great, when things are bad, it's broken (literally). Good content as usual, thanks for the video 👍👍
I really enjoyed this series, it was full of super high highs and really but really low lows, but once again our hero Streten makes it out alive and kicking!
In comparison to some others here, i really liked this series. Seeing you wrench on a conpletely different car and learning on the way was really satisfying to watch. You've done (and got waiting) a lot of BMW's so some different cars is really refreshing to watch.
I would defenitely like to see even some Audi RS or maybe a Porsche or something. Or maybe i could learn something for my own Golf 5 R32😊
The ZF 8 speed is such a great unit, I had it in my M550i and my M5 F90 it's just about the only Auto trans I can live with. Its got near DCT shifting speed without the damn quirks of a DCT/MCT transmission.
Wait untill you drive an electric BMW such as the i4, i5 or i7. Then you'll hate every automatic transmission out there (yes i still love a proper manual). It just puts every automatic to shame. Its so smooth and so nice for relaxed driving. Of course it does not stir any emotion, but seriously for relaxed driving its perfect.
@@Manakuski electric cars dont have transmissions
@@Manakuski Pretty sure no true car enthusiast is gonna buy an electric car over a petrol powered one. I certainly wouldn't.
@@phy9065 Some do. The Porsche Taycan has 2 transmission gears and it’s electric
@@zonda4388 why not? For wife for example or for daily use. Genuenly i would if i could afford one. I'd get an i5 M60 in a heartbeat for a daily, i would not hesitate for a moment. Or an i4 M50. Never a Tesla obviously. You should testdrive one. Don't hate without testing one, you'd be surprised.
im watching every single video with passion, thank you for your work my freind
Čestitam Srele! Pozdrav iz Srbije!
M539 channel name explanation: "Maserati fails 539 times"
That Maserati is a microcosm for modern automobiles man.
I think you're right, and a microcosm of one massive group in particular, Stellantis. Sorry but exactly how are they different from British Leyland in their principled approach? It's badge engineering.
Great work Maestro! 👌🏻 That is one good looking fine piece of automobile!
Truly amazing that you actually finished it!! I’d have torched it ages ago.. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I gotta give you credit for going through to the end with this jolopy car. I would have thrown in the towel and parted it out haha. Well done!!
Its my birthday and I‘m lying sick in the bed. This new episode landing now is a wonderful birthday present for me. Thank you so much for the great entertainment.
Happy birthday,
and sorry to hear that, get well, reall soon!
the frustration must be high if you start to assemble a kitchen island 😂 never saw you doing something else but i enjoy it, too
i pulled the mechatronic unit out off my 6hp some time ago, it was in my garage and on the floor with jack stands. i was laying in ATF, one hand honlding the whole fucker while i hand to reach over and put in the bolts, honestly the hardest thing ive ever done
the only guy on youtube that i would like his videos prior to seeing them
A car so bad it turns a mechanic to carpentry. What a disgrace to engineering.
It is a second hand car, even new ones break up.
Well Maserati started in tractors and that's where the engineering cames from
Compared to wrenching on cars IKEA is so easy. Love it. I have built so many pieces, including an entire kitchen of about 30 cabinets.
@@joaomorais6801I guess you are talking about Lamborghini. Maserati was starting with race cars.
@@jandziergwa4980 It's Italian vehicle it's normal.
Congratulations on having completed this project, it was painful at times seeing you desperate with all its failure, glad it ended up well!
I'm also very surprised at the price, your margin is quite small and it didn't take the detailing job into account. I'm sure at 45K people would still be interested.
Anyway, let's hope the next project won't be as demanding :)
A fantastic suspense series!!!
Even if you do the most complicated things it looks so easy what you do. If it looks easy, someone has to be a genius. And you are!
This one was a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, it is a beautiful car, future proofed for the new owner. I would like to see you do a Porsche 911 someday, should be plenty with dodgy IMS bearings. 😂😂😂. As always love your content, I hope you and your wife are happy in your new apartment. 🏆🏆🏆
Really disappointed of the lack of Torque specs for the kitchen island! 😂😂
Great to see it done, hope it moves quickly.. Back in the day when I was looking for my 911, I viewed one at a specialist used car dealer and was talking to another customer who told me his brother had a 996 911 (like the one I was viewing) and that he had a Maserati. I made a comment about being the poor cousin in the shop looking at their cheapest car to which he replied "my brother's car is never really in the workshop whereas mine is never really out of it!"
Watching these Maserati videos has confirmed that even with my current stupid Land Rover obsession, I'm not brave enough for a Maserati!
Thanks as always for your efforts and content. Keep up the good work.
Great! Well-done mate!
Man was waiting desperately for new content. Kept checking every other day. Cheers mate! 🍺
A great episode as usual!
Also exciting to see when Italian engineering presents itself from its best side. (Sarcasm for those of you who don't understand :) )
"Somebody is going to get a good car"... errrr... "lemon"? 🤣🤣🤣
Nice work, you are as stubborn with cars as I am with electronics! 👍
Your perseverance is to be admired! Your original idea of FIRE would probably have been the best one! Speaking as a kitchen fitter, your island is......OK!😉
Hi Sreten! Great video! Could you at some point do a summary of all your current cars/projects? Isn’t there a few projects which we haven’t seen in years?
I am glad u finish i was getting worried
This speaks loads about their engineers. Keep it up!
Google maps did the same thing to me when driving to Goodwood FoS this year. Took me down a single track, which my mates MX5 bottomed out on. Just to save 2 minutes because there was a queue on the motorway.
I certainly can't blame you for buying the Maserati for it's exhaust, it sounds great! That's the same reason I bought my V8 RS5. If you ever cross into Audi territory you should check one out!
Finally thank you been waiting so long for the next episode
not only did it torture you, it even pranked you. truly a cruel mistress.
😮😮 Ouuhhhh this Car looks absolutley MINT !, after polishing🎉🎉 I`m Glad for you the Car do his Job now. ✅🍀🍀
Oh man this was the car that almost broke you! But glad to see it finally done, hopefully soon someone will pick it up from you!
Now it really lives up to the name quattrobroken :))))))))) amazing job and episode as usual ❤
Waited all weekend for a video to drop ... Finally 🙏🙏🙏
Whahaha, the dipstick has changed :) But I reacted a bit to early, when I see this video it remains me to my VW T5, a true nightmare so I recognize you're feeling :)
QuattroBroken living up to its name
Whow finally mister decided to back, 3 weeks without video😢, I came to channel 5 times and missed see you on dojo.😢😢
I gone to website and submitted a form 😂😂😂😂to
„I need to slow down here too much traffic“
Continues with 200 kmh 😂😂
Sod’s law says that If a vehicle is going to fail the chances of this happening are quadrupled when you fill it with fuel.
A quattroporte has been my dream car since i was a kid. I had hoped to someday ahve one that i could maintain myself. But after this video i have decided it will just remain a dream. Unless i can body ki my BMW to look like one.
My wife has been asking for the kitchen remodeling for years. I now have convinced her that I need to buy a Maserati first, then work on the kitchen when the car inevitably and surely breaks.
0:14 You need to check Citroen C5. The only car that breaks while being stationary. Interesting from engineering point of view, terrible to maintenance and parts.
I loved this venture out from BMWs. Would be cool to see you doing other makes like this one. Or anything with an N54 would be cool too!
if you do venture out more could you do Mercedes or if you would do a MK4 Toyota Supra from the ground up that would be amazing for that community with how detailed your videos are. Although I’m biased in that regard since I own one, and I’m sure parts would be harder to come by in Europe.
The gentlemens from Maserati are already calling a hitman who will get rid of the guy who talks about what cars Maserati produces. I have a lot of fun watching this episode. Let's go back to broken BMWs
Very enjoyable video! You can do anything! Hope you get your money back.
€ 37,000 : MONEY PIT Project !
Now, Back to Sreten’s BMW Restorations.
Pozzz Sretene! Odlican video. Volim i gledam svaki tvoj video ali bih volio da ima i prevod na neki od ovih nasih jezika (srpski ili hrvatski) jer nekad ne mogu bas sve da pohvatam. Super je to sto radis, puna podrska i samo nastavi.
The ride at high speed seems to be quite harsh. However, the handling man… is amazing. My wife termed this car “escacharrati”
Noticed the leak at 24:50 and then after all the launching clips XD
Finale you’re made a great car of it, Italian engineering. Back to the E39 alpina!
I swear this is the ultimate test to a very talented mechanic like yourself 😂😂😂 I just don't understand it 😂😂😂😂😂
You should drive the snot out of it and keep us updated. It is a gorgeous car only a mechanic should drive.
5:20 Routine maintenance overdue. I just changed the whole f*%$ing engine. :)
AKA: where did my money go is my favorite line of Sreten's so far
So it was more of a Quattro-problem? Jokes aside, nice to finally see it in good condition! A job well done!
A side note, how long until sponsored by IKEA?
Don't think I've ever laughed so many times during a single episode. That thing is a meme car
Man I was like crazy waiting for this episode with the Maserati. The last episode you made with the tribute to Sabine was amazing.
Well done !
Mutzi is the best dog ever, I love to see Mutzi
Congrats on keeping it together. I just watching was about to snap! :D
Sorry to ask for more suffering but I hope to see an older Quattroporte or GranTurismo with the F136 engine on the channel sometime! 👍
Nice video. In here we have a ice-cream called Cafesito Jefesito! you earn one!
You bought a 200k mile Maserati so... as a former finance manager of a dealership for 5 years.. & knowing your channel.. then you knew what you were in for haha but it makes for a good video
Did you mention an Alpina B10 V8S?? Cannot wait for that! How did I miss that you had one of those...?
There was an episode way back. Like you I did a bot of a double take but then I remembered it. I love a B10 and the V8s is the holy grail especially in touring form. I'm really looking forward to that series.
How this thing managed to reach 300.000km will remain a mistery but it did and credit when it's due.
I'm Italian and I'm generally very proud of things we do, but seeing the misery that this thing brought you was frustrating.
In the end I believe this thing is quintessentially italian: looks and sounds amazing, but if you look closely it's a mess like anything else. Anyway, I really enjoyed seeing you working on the QP and I'm still hoping on that Alfa GTV we saw in spain, years ago..
Drivers of Italian cars are the only ones doing the forward clocking of the Speedometer just to brag about how long their cars do last
Maseratis is a great way to master new diciplines! ;)
Thank you for taking one for the team, I am never buying that car lol
This funniest episode ever : turbos dumping oil in exhaust so let's build some kitchen furniture..... 😂😂😂
Just call it "Cristina", the Christine italian cousin LOL (which is fitting because Christine was a 1958 Fury from Plymouth, Chrysler brand).
Hi Streten! Do Mercedes content. As you know, here in E-Europe we would love that. Well done, btw for another great vid!
