Great video. I am so tired of these people who think they can put out a video without narration. You told me what I needed to know. I want to build electronic enclosure boxes out of PVC. Now that I have seen your video, I can proceed. Thanks.
Great pleasure. Glad I could help. Please let me know how it turns out. Come to think of it. Now that you mention electrical enclosure. You just gave me a couple of ideas.
What glue/adhesive would you recommend to use to stick several of these sheets together quickly? For example, say I needed to build it up to around 30mm in thickness.
@@JacoBadenhorstOh ok, I've used that stuff for plumbing work before. But I've seen some people using an almost watery like substance to glue plastic together. Any idea what that would be?
@@uzzie88 it depends on the type of plastic. When working with acrylic sheets or "perspex", you use acetone to glue it together. Nothing sticks to HDPE and you have to extrusion-weld it. So I'm not sure about uPVC. I've just always used the pluming glue. Maybe do a test piece and check with acetone?
#1: @3:41 all home mad scientists have been there before. #2: you might try parchment paper to avoid contact wit the heating surface(s) if there is a concern wax transfer from that paper might cause contamination. #3: these experiments are best conducted when the kitchen supervisor is out shopping.
They should all soften at relatively the same temp if it is drainage pipe. Some thicker wall should take longer to heat up. Do not raise the temp as it will start burning the outside while the inside is still softening up.
@@slendy7746 yes it does work. I have shaped PVC pipe with a heat gun. I do however think you will battle with a heat gun to make flat sheets as you will not be able to heat the sheet up uniformly.
I used it to have a firm floor in a tool bag. Round the corners so it doesn’t tear through the fabric. Made a jig for cutting circles with a router. Flat pvc can be used in many situations where one would normally consider using plywood. You are limited by the width (circumference of the pipe) but sheets could be mended together, depending on how important the sheer strength is to your application.

Thanx a lot. Really appreciate your comment.

I'd use PVC solvent glue that you use for sanitary pipe fittings. But make sure you clamp it proparlt

Is there multiple PVC tubes types i have to worry about when buying one or I can just heat up whatever kind of PVC tube?

Please make a pottery wheel with DC motor
I'm not really into pottery, but I may be able to cook something up. Why specifically a DC motor?
@@JacoBadenhorst cause he has a DC motor and wants to make a pottery wheel but don't know how to do it
Where did you get your PVC pipe from
Bought it at our local building supplies and hardware store.
Use cotton gloves🧤
Ok but what do you do with that now?
Good question Joe. I use it as you would use acrylic sheets. It's just more forgiving in situations where the acrylic sheets crack around holes etc.
