Your low tech builds are the best I have ever seen. Although this one eventually converted to high tech, with prospernica palustris growing better than high tech tanks 😂 immensely beautiful tank!
If there's one thing Ive learned in this hobby that contradicts general consensus is that small tanks are easier to keep algae free than big tanks. Bowl looks great! One observation: Male rice fish are quite aggressive with smaller fish!
love it i would try my first 5ltr walstad jar too.. for light i will use table lamp and substrate i wud use washed garden soil topping it with used aquasoil..and 20% water change each week
It looks really great, so lush! Don't you think crushed lava rock is kind of like magic? I had some left over in bucket after I set up my pond, and I couldn't believe how clear the water in the bucket was the next day. Next time I set up an aquarium, I definitely want some crushed lava rock as a base layer.
This bowl is so lovely to see, and thank you for giving us the views of its evolution. I'd love to hear more about adding 'just a small' amount of CO2......I think if I ever do CO2 I'd like to add only a little to enhance growth but not end up with fast growing plants and hence more maintenance.
I notice that there is a pea puffer in there with cherry shrimp. Are they ok together because it is heavily planted? Do you have problems with Mr. Pea picking off your shrimp? TY!
@MJAquascaping Awesome video! I have a question about feeding. I have seen a few planted, where there is actually enough of a food web to feed the fish without having to give them food. Is this possible on a set up like this? Could there be enough algae perpetually to feed the shrimp? Just trying to figure out how this would be done. Thank you! Awesome video.
one question: how do you get the glass so clean? Is it only the fish cleaning it or you doing some manuall cleaning aswell? Btw. Nice tank! Love the outcome
Hi MJ, I have a question. I'm hoping you will know how to help. I had to take a break from keeping tanks and want to set up some tanks again but they have mould growing in the silicone because they were left damp for a long time. Is there a way to remove mould from clear silicone without having to re-silicone my tanks? Thanks 🙏
RO water does make impact on the pH if I understood my teacher correctly. So I was curious about the pH of this bowl. Maybe that does also impact the algae growth...
I've always worried about the lack of water agitation and hence oxygen exchange in a bowl without filters or air stones. How do you tackle this issue of lack of water agitation?
I don't remember seeing it mentioned but can you tell me how many gallons/liters this bowl is? I have an 8 gallon bowl and several 3 gallon bowls but want at least one that's closer to 15-20 gallons if possible
A sphere with a 55inch circumference is about 12 gallons in volume. The measurement you made wasn't super precise and I don't know how exactly it's a sphere, but seems reasonable to assume it's at least 10 gallons.
"Most plants will grow better in soft water" I would like an explanation as to why. Walstad's book actually says plants grow better in hard water, including "soft water plants", because hard water provides more minerals and "soft water plants" are just plants that can deal with the deprivation better. That makes sense enough to me, a pleb.

How many US gallons is this? Would love to see you convert a BiOrb classic into something similar.
That bowl was a seriously awesome find. I can't even find anything like that online!
I love shrimps. So that scene where you put hundreds of them in the water was absolutely delightful! ❤
Your low tech builds are the best I have ever seen. Although this one eventually converted to high tech, with prospernica palustris growing better than high tech tanks 😂 immensely beautiful tank!
So nice…Living art for your room. The light makes it even more special

Beautiful aquascape
Кто сказал, что круглый аквариум - это не красиво?! Это прекрасно! ❤
what a surprise! the plants are growing nice with a $450,- light above them!
What a beautiful result! And the inhabitants look healthy, good work!
love it

Stunning 👏
Very nice tank. I may have to try this.
Well done. Beside expertise you have patience. Both is needed very much in our common hobby.
Great bowl aquarium aquascape
perfect video.... i just bought a bowl three days ago
Simply gorgeous.
That is stunning. The lay out adds real depth to it
this bowl is amazing, it reminds me of amano's books and he had a few bowls on display
Could you do another RO system breakdown? Any recommendations would be great. Thinking of getting one for caridina shrimp.
Very nice love the sparkling gourami I have got to have some 😂
Lovely.
I personally LOVE this bowl and I would love one similar myself.
Sick large bowl! How do you manage to fight biofilm build up with no filter?
would like to make this. those cherry shrimps are cute :3
Beautiful. As usual 😊
Looks great I was just wondering how you had no heater and had tropical Gigi’s except for the ricefish
The room is heated and stays pretty warm year round :)
@@MJAquascaping oh very good I was just wondering because i would love to do something like this without a filter and a heater but I live in england
I would love to onow if this is still running and what it looks like. Im about to do something similarly.
Congratulations! How many litres for this aquarium?
is your pea puffer getting along with the other inhabitants?
With the pee puffer are there any shrimp left?
Yeah I've never seen him hunt the shrimp
@@MJAquascaping really? I had figure 8s and spotted and they loved shrimp. So I figured the pee puffer would too.

What's the specification of light you used?
Super cool! And you’ve proved the stereotype wrong. Love conquers all. ❤😁
Biggest Bowl Aquarium on UA-cam! 😂
Looks absolutely fantastic as well!
so the pea puffer aqua is gone now? wherent you gonna ad some more pea puffers?
hugh bowl looking fire!
can you give the name of the store where you found the fish bowl? I have never seen one so big
Wat is je onderhoudsroutine voor deze bak? Wanneer wissel je water en zuig je de bodem af etc?
When that Algae outbreak did you make any changes. Water-lighting-water changes. Vacuum? Or did just the shrimps made that HUGE difference
I manually removed the big clumps with a water change, and the shrimp ate the rest of it
Quick question: How much and how often do you do water changes? 🙌🏽
I notice that there is a pea puffer in there with cherry shrimp. Are they ok together because it is heavily planted? Do you have problems with Mr. Pea picking off your shrimp? TY!

Awesome project like always. Isn't the little pea puffer trying to murder everything in there? Greetings from Medemblik.
Nope :) Pea puffer isn't hurting anyone!
What size is your bowl? I plan on doing something like this in a 9 galion bowl.
one question: how do you get the glass so clean? Is it only the fish cleaning it or you doing some manuall cleaning aswell? Btw. Nice tank! Love the outcome
Amazing what you do 🤌 greetz from vlissingen

Hmm not sure, but try soaking some paper towels with bleach and push those onto the silicone and leave it for a day or so
RO water does make impact on the pH if I understood my teacher correctly. So I was curious about the pH of this bowl. Maybe that does also impact the algae growth...
Hey 👋🏼 do you still have it?
What temp is the H2O with no heater?
23 during the day and 20 at night
I've always worried about the lack of water agitation and hence oxygen exchange in a bowl without filters or air stones. How do you tackle this issue of lack of water agitation?
The plants provide enough oxygen I guess :)
Did you mean cm instead of inches at 0:40 !
Nope :)
How many litres is that bowl?
I think a little over 50 litres
I don't remember seeing it mentioned but can you tell me how many gallons/liters this bowl is? I have an 8 gallon bowl and several 3 gallon bowls but want at least one that's closer to 15-20 gallons if possible
I think he mentioned it in the previous video and it was around 13 gallons
if i make this and its successful your telling me i can have a little puffer 🤩
مشتی عالی بود. دمت گرمممم
im gonna recreate this in my own way , dont sue me MJ

and when the fish grow? then what? :))
wow low tech seriously 😂😂😂
No mention of water volume in the bowl. Nor where we could get one.
Not very useful
A bit disappointed not everyone can afford co2 and if I could I would not use it, do please do things that it does not require, ❤️❤️
His co2 system is diy and you can make one with little money. But the main expensive thing is the light 🥲
still keeping pea puffer as a single...not good....
