Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?
“H.W. Ok?”
“No he isn’t.”
Stares at oil; mesmerized.
Truly one of the best scenes in film history. Score is GOAT.
Do you know which track it is
#8 Proven Lands

I’ve thought the same thing since 2008 and haven’t been proven otherwise yet imo. It’s my favorite scene of all time.
Wish they’d make movies like this still. Absolute great piece of cinema . And I wish Daniel would come back
"there's a whole ocean of oil beneath our feet, and no one can get at it but me!"
or us, Daniel...we...us...you can't do it by yourself...
love this movie.
PTA is one of the best directors ever and this movie is one of the best movies ever made. Just my opinion.
I appreciate that they got the explosion right, it wouldn’t be a big fireball, it would look pretty much like that. The concept really hasn’t changed much since the 1800’s, you put a shaped charge near the hole and blow them, caving the hole in. One of the few monies that gets the explosion right.
I couldn't understand how shem stoped afire and flow
@@sajjadadnan2011 setting off an explosion sucks all the oxygen out of the air, that will put out the oil fire
That background music makes it even more beautiful of a piece of cinema
Fascinating Perfection, from first to the last Shot.
Such a classic movie!! Thank you for the awesome clips
Two metal barrels full of Dynamite and it just goes "Puff" with people just a few yards away and in no big hurry?
Barrels full of dynamite. That does not quantify anything.
There is sound reasoning behind it. Dynamite is a chemical explosive and not as powerful as films would make you think. Watch any footage of real dynamite and you won't see huge plumes of flames and fireballs. Using dynamite as seen here is a method of rapidly starving the burning fire of oxygen, without oxygen a hydrocarbon cannot continue to burn. It's the same reason every modern engine has air intake as part of the combustion cycle. Without air hydrocarbons don't burn.
I cannot emphasize enough how dead Daniel Day-Lewis would be at that proximity to that many sticks of dynamite.
It’s probably obvious, but can you explain why
@@harrisonkrominga1706 Ignoring the primary blast effect, for which he is at a highly questionable distance, the dynamite was contained in barrels which will become a shotgun-like cone of fragments. The cart and the building itself with then add to said fragments, and a considerable amount of burning oil will also come his way. Even if the oil is not literally on fire, it will be several hundred degrees and quite sticky. Do NOT stand that close.
@@maryambintghassani2341 HAH, yeah youre right. Movie hero logic. I always thought jesus, that is a loooooot of dynamite.
@Maryam bint Ghassani
This is a movie, not a real life thing.
In real life explosions are a 50/50
I’ve seen the effects in person.
The shockwave is the only thing that will kill you, you put an object in front of you, the over pressure will have massive demised effects.
In terms of shrapnel, won’t kill you unless you were within the kill radius. That in itself depends on what type of explosion and how close you were.
Meaning unless you’re about 10-20 feet from the explosion, the only thing will hit you is heat and some splinters.
@@dougmckay232 I am aware it is a movie. And he is within the kill radius, which is my entire point.
Nice film
Last time I laughed like this was in Geneva Switzerland.
Im an oil man...
Do Clips Of Open Season Please
I second this
Why not shut the pump off
Rockefeller,
This movie is based on Ed Doheny. The first oil tycoon of California. At his peak, he was richer than Rockefeller.
@@zackmartin7914richer whej rockefeller wasn’t at his peak
The explosion at the end was always a huge let down.
The damn barrels that were full of dynamite didn't even budge.
An air cannon full of dust is not an explosion they really screwed that up big time
cuz you were around during that time and knew how powerful dynamite could be?
what was like it like panning for gold?
