Nice to see some pre plug n play tech and tricks being used in this build :-) It wasn't always as easy as plugging in a laptop and Page Up to Power with many plug in chip tune modules and if you were really keen? Removing EEPROMS and using a Prom burner to add edited code which was always fun........ No spray and pray at Scottys Garage!
It's like everything else in life Scotty, you'll get there & the results will be good. At least you show how to remove things not like the other channels out there. For a non-Ford bloke such as myself, it's good to know. I still reckon a "Scotty's Wish List" for tools on your website is a go. Another great video mate!
Scotty here is a tip: with the air cleaner box you need to change from clips to springs which Ford did for the AU Series II E:gas engines, Ford found that the springs work better to keep the air box sealed which helps avoid LPG backfires.

if you want to stop the lpg backfires destroying you pipe, tmk the ba-bf 'green top/ lpg only' airboxes came with spring clips designed to lift and stop the pressure wave going down the pipe
J3 chip is the way to go. Plenty of tuning available just need someone who knows how to tune them. I've played with the software and after a few hours of looking around they are pretty awesome for they are
@zacsborntorunrunningadvent3441 I'd say for basics like an exhaust and intake that'd work, but anything with actual internal work I'd use the J3 just to run it better to drive it to be tuned properly It's always good to get an actual tune with any internal work
J3 has to many limitations. You have to do dodgy shit to get the boost he needs to run. He needs to aim for 15 psi and that's out of j3 territory. He could use a 10:1 fmu and the j3 that way he can pull fuel on boost instead of trying to add it.
j3 is good but something like a microsquirt or even "basic edition ecu" from everythingfuelinjection will knock the factory out of the water. blank j3 chips are about $90 from TI btw, :) more budget!
I'd be running without that intercooler and using an additional injector in the boost pipe to cool the charge. That way there's less weight, less volume of intake to fill, more money to spend elsewhere.
Umm , is it just me or did anyone else notice that your mini spool is a 9" one. BW looks different. Much smaller pin holes and body is nowhere near that diameter. We bought one for $45 for our build. We are going J3 chip too since we have an EA Falcon. Good to know that we don't have to include the tuner module in the budget. Looking good though !!
Really don't like what you did with the butterflys. N/A any air drawn in from a worn shaft is only going to give you a higher idle. Under boost it is going to blow out that gap. The plates stop and backwards and forwards movement. Even if you wire it, you are likely going to be pulling it in one direction, which might expose the slots in the shaft. Can't say I am thrilled about the solution on this one. For the price of a gasket and a couple of grub screws / bolts you could do it properly.
Hey Scotty been really watching this series closely and wanting to participate but im out of the country and back at the start of the year, Been talking to my brother 12s for 2k (if we started in Jan and had to be ready by Aus day 26th) even though it's a great one to get started might not even do any work and just do a pass for shits n giggles😅
At the end of the day, I'm doing this for myself and to help the channel, but if I can show a few tricks to people then that's okay too. If it gets more people involved in racing in general, then that's cool
Removing the butterflies is a good way to go slower. The fact is they weren't fitted to the Gull engines purely for cost savings. You gain low end torque and off boost performance by leaving them operational. J3 chips work but they're expensive for what they are especially when you can get entire aftermarket ECUs for $150. All that said it's going 12s pretty easily.
Please tell me where to get an aftermarket ecu for 150 and then explain how much time I need for wiring and everything.genuinely interested. Don't be hurt, I'm keen to find out
@@WINZRacingBoss Speeduino, developed by Josh Stewart in Ballarat. I have them running a turbo FZJ105 Landcruiser and a twin turbo Harley Dyna. Rusefi is cheaper than a J3 and has drive by wire and knock sensing. Wiring is subjective, I love it, most hate it.
