Hands down, best review video ,this is what everybody want to see , well done
The is the perfect video for someone who is debating on switching from a Wear OS device.
Loved this video!! So helpful! Thank you 🙌🏻
I am more of a Forerunner person, this gives a glimpse of what 275/975 might offer in the next year when I upgrade
Thanks for the detailed guide. Super useful as I am thinking about getting one.
Arguably the timeliest video of all time as I just received my Garmin Venu 3 today and have been busy configuring it. Like all your videos, incredibly informative and insightful. Thank you so much for making our sporting world a better place!
Awesome, enjoy it!
@@Dcrainmaker, just to tidy everything up, your videos and reviews have been responsible for a host of purchases this year. As luck would have it, my Samsung phone, Garmin 520 bike computer, and Oura Ring batteries effectively died in the same week - no kidding. In addition, I had a retro bike build (my old Lemond TSX with Campagnolo C-record from 1991) where I wanted to add a power source to capture my riding telemetry. In short, your reviews and research have been responsible for the purchase of the following devices: Garmin RS200 pedals, Garmin 840 (non-solar) computer, Garmin Venu 3 watch, and a Wahoo Kickr back in 2019. All have been excellent additions to the stable. Thank you for your unbiased product overviews over the years!
Thank you for this video! I just received my Venu 3s and found this very helpful. I have one question. Do you use any type of screen protector or have you found that the screen is pretty durable against scratches/damage?
Just bought my 3s. I'm excited to try it out. Wish it had a texting option. Maybe someday they will.
Thanks a lot. Any chance of doing a review of the meditation functions?
I hope that nap thing and sleep coach will be added to the instinct 2x very soon.
Thank you great video!
Helpful video thanks
Thanks for a great video. Does the watch show actual altitude (not just elevation)? I want to use it in mountaineering.
Hello, Great video. IS it possible to set up in Venu3 that during activity screen does not dimm? In my old Venu I had options to dimm after 5, 10, 15 sec or no limit. In the third option screen was bright all the time. In my FR 265 I do not have that 3rd option. Is it available in Venu 3?
Its amazing right out of the box there is no option in heart rate to broadcast. took a while to figure it need to do a software update first
Thanks for the walk through! Are there apps for home automation, eg. bulbs, switches…etc?
Good watch. Garmins game seems to be moving the features up and down, making it a hard decision for customers to choose.
Can you add naps if it's not automatically recorded? And will naps feature will be included in other watches (Fenix, Epix gen2...)?
Can you provide a list of activities that it does track? For example basketball, rollerblading, etc.? Thanks for your work!
I'll wait until the Fenix 8x Pro comes on the market. I'll keep using my Fenix 6x pro. Thanks for the Awesome review of this watch.
When it is release for Garmin 8 ?
2025@@sebastijangombac5249
Wait, i didn't know you had a video on the Venu 3! Your reviews i can honestly trust as you put them through real usage, ive actually been interested in this watch as i started to work out over 2 months ago and went from 330lbs to 305lbs so i wanted to get this watch to pair with my Garmin weight scale that also uses the Garmin connect app.
Which is the best watch on Garmin for both health and navigation?
Sir, its a humble request kindly mention lug to lug length of the watches you review. Its absolutely neccessary. I Hope you consider the suggestion.
Do you reckon all the SW updates on the Venu 3 be rolled out to the still new watches like the Epic Gen 2 at some point?
Is there a chance that you test the notification for emails like MS Outlook and Teams?
Long shot here but do you know when it'll be available to buy from other retailers in UK not just Garmin themselves?
Do you recommend the 3s or 3 .? Have you noticed any other differences besides size In the two ?
Can you do a comparison video with the forerunner 975?
Do you recommend purchasing a screen protector for the Venu 3?
Hi! Awesome video, thanks. Can ou Tell me the name of the watch faces you showed?
Wish had similar to Samsung and could go back by swiping the screen rather than the buttons, and more shortcuts swipe right. But Garmin has much better battery and quality
15:36 the training plan tab has Running, clycling and a multisport. Is the multisport a yet to ne released addition? As i only have the running and cycling, i would love the multisport addition.
Can you please make a comparison between Samsung galaxy watch 6 and this new garmin venu 3🙏
With intervals, does a do a beeping countdown? On my friends older watch, she runs utilizing the interval setting and it will beep a countdown.
I see they changed (broke) the control center. Is there a way to get the old round style back, so you don't have to swipe to get to >3. option.???
If they are running out of room in the old one, why not make so you can swipe up and down to get 2 new pages.
Same goes for the swipe left/right shortcuts. Why not allow swipe left/right, then up/down for 6 options, instead of just 2??
thank you for your videos always extremely helpful. Quick question though. I could not find it in any Garmin help files. How do I change the wallet (Garmin Pay) 4 digit secret :-) password...and if I delete a card...I does not actually delete the old one off the watch..very strange
Can you turn the touch screen off during activity like on the new Forerunner?
Great review, as always! Question: can you set multiple timers, or is it limited to one at a time? I have a new Venu3, and I seem to only be able to set one at a time. I use these for cooking purposes as well as rests between weight sets. Thanks!
I’ve been trying to figure out the same thing. I want to set different times between weight sets. I hope someone answers this question
@@gailgrieco1781 For weight sets, I just choose Strength workout and hit the bottom button after a set, fill in reps I did and then hit it again to start a rest period. I have to look at it to see how long that is though.
Hi! Can you please tell if it possible to check the calendar for the next meeting, while working with iOS device?
Do you think they will ever return to the Vivoactive line? The transflective display was an absolute game change changer for someone who mainly outdoors, esp great for those long trips of camping/hiking
Have you considered something like the Forerunner 255 or the Fenix 7?
No, I'd say both the Vivoactive as well as any mid-range Forerunner MIP display days are done (meaning, the FR255 marks the last MIP display at that price point).
How do I get the Wallet app on my Garmin watch? It is not listed under the App section. My card is set up on garmin pay (it is also supported) but I cant find the Wallet app on my watch anywhere.
how is the golfing on it for yardages ? does it even do that ?...thx from Canada
How well would the 3s fit on your wrist? I am trying to not have to put a huge clock on my arm.
I wonder what the battery life would be under test conditions with AOD on, but lift to wake off. The AOD would constantly use power, but far less than the full screen on lift to wake to check the time
Hi, good video! I'm really torn between the sizes. I wish they made a 43mm that would be perfect. I have a 160mm wrist, would you say a 45mm would look huge? I'm concerned about the tiny screen that the 41mm probably has (given the actual tactile area is even smaller than 41mm)... thank you!
Did you make up your mind? I'm also having the same doubt. I have a 155mm wrist and I also want to buy the 45mm, because of the bigger screen and bigger battery, but I'm afraid it my be a little bit too large for my wrist.
Also wondering what you decided! I have a 160mm wrist and am torn as well!
I got the smaller one, I have fat fingers and haven't been having problems gesturing or seeing things on smaller font.
Made the mistake of getting the bigger watch last time and it was too painful for my wrist sadly. I'm not slim by any stretch of the imagination and I don't think it looks that small on the wrist which is surprising
Any idea if we will see a Garmin descent mk3?
Garmin would really need to offer a smartphone like device. A small screen device, with their Watch it edge OS with sim card and an RCS messenger. Spotify is already on their devices and most other stuff could run on a browser based app.
Security center device with a week of battery life with many sports utilities
What about replying to text or other messages? Can you replay with your voice or is it just canned responses?
Looks like Garmin has finally added option to increase the font size. Can you please show comparison images of small vs. large font size. and whether it impacts just text notifications or all text in the watch. Thanks
It makes everything a little bigger, but not much. Some text in certain places are still very small, but all the mnus and stuff are bigger. Maybe like 10-15%... but it helps
Please, is there any way to set the stride length on venu 3? I can't find it anywhere (instructions from other watches don't work.) Thank you!
Are there buttons that allow you to navigate the menus with gloves on? I wear gloves on winter runs and I don't think I'd be able to use the touch screen to select Run.
Hi, thanks for your review.
What is the best sleep tracker garmin watch right now, i use the venu 2 plus but I'm not sure it so accurate.
Normal Venu 2 is a little better because less Metal an lighter. Vivomove Sport is the best Garmin for Sleep Tracking.. But its marginal. Better gonwirh Fitbit or Apple if Sleep Tracking is important. See "the quantified scientist".
Does the Venu 3s have a move goal feature similar to the Apple Watch? It’s a recommended amount of calories you should burn everyday. You can follow the recommendations or customize it to your liking. It tracks all of your daily movement. Your move goal is apart of your 3 activity rings and any calories you burn contribute towards closing your move goal ring…my Apple Watch face stays on the 3 activity rings and I’m curious to know if Garmin has a similar feature because I want to switch to the venu 3s but I don’t wanna lose that feature…I know I can sync my Apple Watch with the 3s so I can still close my activity rings with my iPhone, etc.but is there a similar feature on the 3s?
Hi! Is it possible to get custom sounds for notification and alarm on Venu 3? I am thinking of uploading my own sounds and use that as custom notif and alarm sounds.
Hi thank you for the guides! I’m wondering buying either Venu 3 or Apple 9. May I ask your opinion?
I’m also stuck between the two. What did you go with?
I'm on call some nights. Is there any way to set a do not disturb but allow just calls to go through?
What about the alarm? Does it just vibrate or play sound or can it be both or none?
Hi DC Rainmaker! Thanks for review! One question, does it have a temperature sensor ? like skin or ambient?
While I suspect the new hardware sensor is capable of it, Garmin has not enabled such a feature yet in software.
Hey, thinking of buying the Venu3, but should i wait for the possible Venu4 launching in August? or just take this one?
Thinking about switching from AW…can anyone share what power options are missing?
In my Venu 3, I can"t see in APPS - wallet - phone - music ?? I can"t figure out this issue . I added pay-card and looks like on my phone it should be ok.
Thank you
Any idea why body battery won't sync with activities recorded on say a garmin 540/840? It seems weird that I cannot go outside do a workout even if I take another garmin device. Isn't this supposedly integration all there is to benefit from a brand's ecosystem?
Can you have a step competition with another person? Like with Fitbit
Great review. One question though...When finishing an activity, run for example, do you simply press one of the buttons to end your run, or do you use the touch screen?
You’ll always start/stop any workout with a physical button. To save that workout after stopping, then you can use the touch screen.
@@Dcrainmaker Fantastic. That's making my decision to go back to Garmin seem more likely.
Thanks heaps as well for the Super quick reply.
Nice work.. Where did u get the live watch face from @ 1:29
That's actually just one of the stock ones, you can dig around and mix and match them from the different Live Watch face categories.
My Venu 3 is not tracking my naps automatically.😢 is there a setting that I need to do.
Are these accurate like apple watch I used to have apple watch was amazing I just switched to android so I sold it as I want the message reply and calls function and couldn't do it with android phone
Broadcast HR would be used for instance while cycling if I want my Edge 830 to show HR, is that right ? Is it basically how you sync the watch to the Edge or is there any other thing to pay attention to ? I'm still a little bit confused though. Naturally, I would hit "bike" activity on the watch before getting on it and use the GPS on my Edge to go wherever I want, but that would create 2 activities wouldn't it ? But if I use the Edge for the activity, would I get the sport report at the end on the whatch though ? So, what's the best way to use both devices simultaneously ?
Yup, correct! But, you can also just do a regular broadcast too (I didn't cover that, but you don't technically have t o start an activity). If you recorded it on both, it would create a duplicate - but it wouldn't impact your training load (on Edge), or recovery on watch, etc, as that's all reconsiled.
Thanks for the swift reply ! @@Dcrainmaker
Great, that's preceisely the part that I still need to figure out in details, so I'm going to contnue reading about it. Great and useful review, thanks !! @@Dcrainmaker
Can you cover the new texting keyboard? I haven’t seen any reviews covering that.
Funny I was looking for a video on the text and call feature. I currently have the galaxy watch 6 but the battery life at 1D feels horrible to me but a huge pro is quick text and being able to answer calls during work
Is there anyway to fast forward on a podcast or an audiobook? It says to hold down the fast forward button, but it just keeps skipping to the end. When on runs I like to listen to books, but I can't go back to my spot.
Given that they're similarly priced, would you perhaps compare the Forerunner 265 and Venu 3? I really struggle to understand the Venu 3 at this point and price...
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M But the 265 has everything that the Venu has apart from the speaker (which works only when you have your phone nearby and you might as well just use your phone), and more. The Venu 3 is just a 265 with fewer features for the same price.
@@GH0STST4RSCR34Mforerunner ist focused on running and cardio sports... and a venu is also a very good watch for doing a workout and also with other kind of sports like bouldering, tennis, kickboxing, hiit strength and so on.... a forerunner comes with more detailed informations of running and the focus of daily readiness score is also more into running progress or for Triathlon athletes.
@Desfit has made one! Great comparison
Hi DC, I think I missed an explanation how navigation works and some screenshots how it looks.
There is no navigation features on the Venu 3, save an arrow for Back to Start and Saved waypoints, showing you as the crow flies which way to go.
@@Dcrainmaker Thanks for your quick reply!
I am aware that there is no map navigation in the Venu 3 but i thought you can plan a route from A to B and that the watch is then showing arrows (to the left in 50 meters etc....). If that is not the case I better look for an other watch, But the Venu is the only
Garmin with a speaker/mic :( Which watch do you suggest if I want both, besides apple)
I just saw on youtube that you can make a trip with komoot and use it on a Venu 2 plus (without full mapping)!
🙂
Does the larger font also affect the Watch faces as well
Oh, well that is unfortunate
Garmin Pay is now supported in the Netherlands by ING
Indeed, finally!
Can you voice text from the watch to an iPhone
What is the maximum number of data fields that can be displayed during an Activity? Thanks
Four data fields per data page, and three custom data pages, plus one dedicated heart rate gauge page.
Does it have airplane mode? Thank you.
I have an 840 and a Venu 3. Broadcast heart rate from the Venu 3. Will I ever get a Training Readiness score based on training load from 840, HRV, and sleep. Seems all the data is there to get one.
The Venu 3 doesn't support Training Readiness. While I agree with you, basically Garmin's 'logic' for whether or not a TR score shows is if the baseline feature is enabled on your account via some compatible watch. That said, if you use your Venu 3 for running for example, that'll contribute to your trianing load/recovery/etc scores that the Edge 840 sees.
Thanks for the video. I have a question. It is possible to hiking and running press pause or lap.. ? Thank you.
I got one!! I love it but I’m constantly having problems of connectivity. If I’m at my bedroom and my phone is in the living room instantly disconnected and I don’t know if that’s normal? HELP PLEASE !! 😭😭😭
I have a sort of a unique question, if anyone can clarify -
So, I have a smartwatch like Venu 3 for example - I pair it to my personal phone (Android) and install their app, and just use the watch normal, let it track whatever. But while at work, I'd like to connect it to my work phone (iOS) to take calls or see notifications. When it's connected to my work phone, will the health tracking start all over again or will it continue as it is?
I’d say try it.. Personally I think you won’t loose stuff because everything is saved on the watch 🤔 But not sure, haven’t tried it 😅
I do think it’s a hassle because you have to disconnect to connect to another phone..
How to see recent notifications?
I have a 965 and Venu 2 Plus Are there any reasons to upgrade my VENU 2 + to the 3?
I have 965 and using it mostly for running, golfing, and skiing this winter. I am thinking about buying venu 3 because of ECG. How do you like ECG function?
Sometimes my heart seems to race. When I was riding my heartrate went to 220. I have upgraded to Garmin Pro strap and haven't seen it. But if it happens during the day I can capture it on the VENU. So far it doesn't last long enough to do that but I have the peace of mind that I can catch it and diagnose it. Also, I do construction projects and don't want to risk my 965 so I wear the VENU. The 965 has many more fitness features but the VENU 3 looks to now have some or all of them. @@monicaandhyunwootv1337
@@monicaandhyunwootv1337 It doesn't look like Venu 3 has ECG as of yet.
@@Pohmetolog thank you for letting me know.
How long is GPS acquisition time compared to 265 & 965 please?
Identical - usually 1-3 seconds.
Is there talk to text as well?
Does it track real time HRV? Or only during sleep?
Same question here does it always track stress or only during sleep ? Close to getting it only néed this info thanks
All these features should be on the Epix Pro, the lack of on watch calling is the only thing that bugs me about it.
Any of the new features expected to go down to venu 2 plus?
The venu watches has never gotten any substantial feature updates after release, so probably not. It's strange though, because most of the other watches get cool new features all the time.
Agree, I wouldn't expect any of thse updates. For whatever reason, Venu never gets much in teh way of feature updates. No idea why.
Does it have football and tennis activity with gps tracking?
Correct, no football, but does have the other two.
What are the chances of Venu 3 sq being relased
How in hell do u update the venu 3 watch software version from 5.39 to 7.07 to use the ecg app?
Ray, great content as always. Do you think we will see the sleep coach feature on 965 soon?
Yes, it sounds like it will, but Garmin is sorting out the details there and promised to have an update shortly.
Does it have a round trip course?
No course routing support, but you can do back to start.
Good detailed test, but nothing about notifications, why not? 😢
Good point, usually someone texts me at some point along the way when shooting - but didn't happen and totally forgot. Sorry!
@@Dcrainmaker actually would be interesting to see how many improvement happened there. For me it is almost the most important part of a smart watch. See how it handles the pictures from Viber, Messenger etc apps :)
Algorithm ♥️
Hoping nap detection makes it to more nodels
Hope the fenix model gets its also! Should be there for the recovery aspect of hard workouts
Other Garmins do detect naps. They just don't record it as such. Your body battery will increase after you nap.
@nkanyisoj5912 no they detect rest and decrease of heartrate that will impact your body battery positive but they don't detect naps Specifically.
Hoping naps make it to my life 😂
It will be coming to more models. Garmin is sorting out which models and the timeline. I'd expect the FR265/965/Fenix 7/Epix models.
Wow this looks better smartwatch to track naps, samsung only tracks above 1 hour naps....
Nothing about setting up or any info on GPS?
If you have the Epix Pro, would this add to your arsenal any feature of value that is worth paying for? I like the nap feature a lot as I'm biphasic sleeper, also the better integration with the phone than the Epix, but come'on the Epix/Fenix7 were supposed to be the complete solution. I am really disappointed in Garmin, had I known about the this new release I'd made a different purchase decision. Garmin is really sending the wrong message here, it's basically don't purchase the new watches, wait for a year or so as the even our top of the line watches will not have everything you are looking for!
Garmin is saying these software features will come to the top watches as well, they’re just finalizing the details of that.
Thanks for all your hard work and helping of the community@@Dcrainmaker
