A good summary. How the bike makes us feel is so important.

I have used my inty 650 for office commute (60km in total) for nearly 7 months through heavy traffic. The bike is heavy. Once the clutch cable broke and had to drive without clutch for some distance. Used a RE bullet cable temporarily to get me to service centre. Apart from this one incident I have had no issues. I absolutely enjoyed my drive to office and back. Oh yes I used to wear the riding gear also as it was a pretty long drive. The inty is a breeze on the highways and never felt the heat. Did feel the heat in city traffic but then this is a twin engine 650cc bike I should not be expecting anything less. The stock exhausts get deeper grunts as the bike munches the miles. Sort of like it and haven't changed it. Have changed the rear sprocket to 16T so the torque has increased. Punctures are a real threat and my feeling is that I should be moving to a tubeless tyre setup. Maybe replace with Alloy wheels. Dont like Alloy wheels though as it spoils the retro look. Anyone looking for a bike not too expensive and yet has all the chutzspah and more go for it. This bike is highly customizable and hence you can truly make it your own.

I love ur no nonsense approach.
    just pure experience data.
I so prefer this approach vsv paid reviews who have to dumb down harsh realities Inorder to appease brands.

I wish the interceptor had a 350 version with the meteor J series engine. It would be amazing for me.
Side note : I absolutely love the GT seat on the interceptor. It definitely looks better.

Coming from Germany and living in a very high traffic area I switched to a scooter for daily commute in the city and leave my HD Sportster in the garage for the WE…
Big bikes are nice on wide open roads, but in dense traffic they can be really a pain!

The bike is not heavy. It can pass any vehicle on highway speeds without shifting down. The foggy speedometer is something I’ve never had happen to mine. The brakes are pretty good however there is a squeaking issue after a few thousand km. I recommend modding the bike yourself. Power booster plug, high pass reusable filter and cover. Don’t forget to upgrade the exhaust pipes as well to anything above the stock pipes. Huge difference. Great bike!

I'm facing a problem with the front part of interceptor a cracking sound comes (whenever bike goes on any speed breaker or potholes in the road)from either the shocker or from T. The 650 is a great piece of machinery. Over 33,000 miles and only my speedo wheel sender failed under warranty.
    Yes it's heavy
The seat is hard on the backside.
    I like spoked wheels.
I like no vibration no leaks and no spontaneous explosions like British bikes of yore.

I thought its a real long term review since the Title says "Long term review ||| Interceptor 650|||| How is it holding on after 2 LONG YEARS of daily commute ?" And got into the video to know at 0:24 that its just 1 year old motorcycle that has run just 9k Km. Video was great but obviously did not solve my purpose. I'm still commenting expecting to get some valuable inputs. I own Dominar 400 & have done 1 lac plus Km in 4.5 years and planning to switch to RE and was considering Interceptor 650 as my next motorcycle. I have few questions I'm putting as pointers.
    * Wanted to know how good it is for real long term?
    * Its 650cc twin oil cooled, so obviously would heat up on long rides, but is it like I need to stop again and again to cool down the engine on long rides?
    * How heavy will it be on pocket in terms of maintenance and expected mileage (I earn less and ride more out of passion so I must know this)?
    * I did not like the stock seat, headlight & speedo consol. Are there any good modifications available? I heard REs has a lot of customization option.
    * Can we change it to tubeless tyres? If yes, then is there any place you can suggest in Bangalore?
    * Do you think this can last for 1 lac plus km if maintained properly?
    * Or do you think Dominar would still be a better pick due to its advanced tech?

      1. Long term value or objective was not clear. Pls explain. If are craving for power, you will easily over grow in a year. Few decades down the line, this would be in heritage category.
      2. I felt otherwise. While wearing jeans I never felt the heat unbearable, what i can say is hold ing triple digits heat will go below your thighs. I did 580 km trip in 9-10( riding time 7-8 hrs). Never felt bothersome.
      3. Wait till warranty period gets over or even earlier- shift to Castrol synthetic oils. RE oils not fine. It runs little cooler. No you may have to stop due to your bums needing a break or 250 km whichever earlier. I ride in cycles of 55 min ride. 5 min strech.
      4. Servicing cost around 4500 approx. highway mileage if keep around 95-105, you get 28-33 kmpl varying on how much you revvv.
      5. long term answer as first.
      6. Swap stock seat with touring seat and wear cycling shorts. Headlights - may try super meteor one.

It depends on where you are from. In America, where I am from, many of us are used to 800 pound bikes so the little Interceptor 650 is like riding a piece of paper. In India they think the interceptor is heavy.

Usually with chrome engines, they tend to overheat or heat up faster than a normal matte finish so my question is how long was your longest single ride without taking a break was and did you feel the heat near your thighs during?
    Thanks 🙏

    • @thecrank7199
      @thecrank7199  2 роки тому +5

Indeed the heat from engine air flow from fins of the engine flows on under thighs especially on the left bank and in winter it's enjoyable and summer slight heat u feel under slow speed either on highway or in urban rides, however I've never felt discomfort due to heat per se. Thank you
