She did also say that she didn’t think marijuana use OR the entire “hippie culture” would even exist without the Vietnam War, which is… kind of out there, probably not true and pretty imperialist when you think about it. She still ABSOLUTELY did NOT deserve what she got for speaking her truth to power. Incredible talent. And certainly never abused anyone, unlike so many famous people who saw no consequences in their lifetime.

My husband and I went to an outdoor concert in our town... to see Ray Charles. While everyone was finding their seats, it was announced that, due to poor health, Ray couldn't perform. I was crushed but then I looked up and saw Eartha coming towards me, looking for a seat. Had no idea she was a local. I thought, well... if I can't see the legend I came for, at least I got to see this one.

I live in Philly, about 15 min from Poe's Philly house. If you ever have a chance to visit it, DO. It's the coolest freaking place. They show you where he wrote the tell tale heart and the black cat and a bunch of other stories and poems in a really cool way.
