    Sam Chatmon was one of the great blues-folk musicians of his day. He didn't just play the blues, he lived the blues.

    My God. This guy was Blues , Rock and Roll royalty man. He was Charlie Patton and Bo Carter's brother. His nephew was Memphis Slim! We are looking at one of those guys who inspired Rock and Roll. And Corrina still feels timeless. Can be played as a Rock, Blues and Country anthem till today. I am in tears listening to this.

    Sam’s brother, Bo Carter, made the first recording and had the copyright, around 1930. Who knows who really wrote it. But this version is golden!

    Watched this and decided to donate 10GBP to the Alan Lomax cause. Still, however, a pittance in regards to the overbearing pricelessness of Chatmons repertoire.

    I just came across Mr. Chapman and this is the second song I’ve seen of his that the Grateful Dead played. Jerry Garcia started in bluegrass bands and liked “old timey music” I’m betting he was a fan of Mr. Chapmans music. The other song of his the Dead played is Sitting on top of the world btw.

    Sounds like the source of Alberta as preformed by Clapton on his unplugged album.

    • @TheMC1215
      @TheMC1215 4 роки тому

      Lol. Ya think? Of coursed it is. Clapton and others should have ensured he lived like royalty his last years. But Sam’s brother, Bo Carter, made the first recording and had the copyright, around 1930. Who knows who really wrote it. But this version is golden!

      He wouldn't know much more than he did. and he'd do just fine. If you spend some time in that part of the world, you'll understand that you can live disconnected from the rest of the country and that if it doesn't bother you, it doesn't matter.

      +Charles Williams
      I read he mostly just tuned to his voice per song.
      so I just tune down till its close

    • @craigdiniz3891
      @craigdiniz3891 8 років тому +2

      +Charles Williams try standard tuned down to C#. I don't hear any of those open tuning frequencies and his chord shapes look standard. I don't have a guitar with me or I would try to be a better help
