At 34 I'm probably a bit younger than most groups who were actually driving the foxbody when they were new and actively running the streets, I was mostly around more Chevrolets & Pontiacs cause of my dad and his friends working on their cars, but I always remember and love seeing them at stop lights with that old classic 5.0 sounds as a small kid which I later come to know as the flowmaster exhaust lol. heck my elementary school principal had a 92 5.0 LX convertible the same color as your fox back in 1994/1995. My first car actually was a white 1986 Camaro IROC-Z back in 2005 when I was 16 and had a friend who was a few years older with a black 1987 Mustang 5.0 T-Top that already graduated and would go to car meets and drive around in our younger days, and still has it to this day, but I would say he was the big influence that got me into wanting to get a mustang, and ended up selling the Camaro later on and I got my 1st mustang (S197) in 2008 and years later down the road my 1st fox at 30 (2019). But you're so right, the community is just something completely eye open and special when you become a part of it and find so many people you can relate to and have memories with. Love it!
Mu first car was an 86 iroc. Beautiful car. Very slow. My Fox is in a different league. Even when it was 100% stock, it would eat my iroc alive. Just a vicious car.
I'm 34 as well. My Dad grew up with GMs, he only bought GTOs, Chevelles, Novas, Impalas, etc. Not until 1986, he bought a brand new Mustang GT. His first Mustang, and his first Ford. When I was a kid we would work on the car together, go to the track every week or every other week, go to events in the surrounding tri-state area. We did everything from, heads work, Vortech, fuel work, etc. In high school my first car was a 99 GT that I put a Vortech S-Trim on, then after college I had a modded WRX and totaled it. After that I knew the only car for me was specifically a 1986 GT. You have no idea how long I spent looking for a clean, rust free 86 GT. I was looking for only 1 year, although I still kept an open mind about 87-93s since I knew I had to be realistic about finding an 86 GT in the condition I wanted. After nearly 7 months and about 3 deals that were about to go through and at the last minute the seller ghosted me, I finally found one up in NY and drove up there with my friend in his truck and rented a trailer and trailered it back. The car is very clean, rust free, but I traded off the car I wanted before in FL that had a 347, full H,C,I, and MegaSquirt ECU. That wasn't really my choice though as I offered the guy with the 347 car his full price, told him I would hire a transport company to pick it up and I would wire the money to him before he had to do anything and then I got ghosted. Unfortunately my car only has a stock 302, but I do have HCI, and I just installed a Holley Terminator X before they discontinued it and the few places that bought leftover stock ahead of time and charged nearly twice for what they had.
I’ve had my 91 since I was I was 19 and am 44 now. It got its second coat of Wild strawberry/titanium last year since the factory. It’s a conversation starter everywhere it goes. You are correct, the mustang community is good people.
Growing up, I remember seeing and hearing them all over on the streets, at the malls, arcades, and movie theaters. You knew when you saw the "5.0" badge on the fender it was a quick car. Nothing better than a Foxbody mustang!🐺
It was more fun embarrassing Camero owners with my 86 SVO everyone always said it sounded strange for a 5.0L then I open the hood and there is a 4 cylinder popping away.
I'm 50 years old myself. My Dad worked at the Dearborn, Michigan plant and I remember while growing up I would see the HUGE inventory lot filled with Foxbody Mustangs, and the Capri as well from 1979 to the end of 1994 when the SN cars took their place(I was sad to see the Fox go). It was a real treat seeing that lot throughout the years. The 85-86 were my favorites to see. I can also remember how those cars gotten even more popular when they went to the 16 inch pony wheels! The Foxbody is one of the most popular hotrods and the most popular mustang in history hands down!!
I completely agree with all three points. When I was young, I always wanted a Foxbody, but could never afford one. My friends and cousins all owned them, and I was jealous. Now none of them own.on a Foxbody and I do lol they are so much fun to drive and have the best sounding V-8 I’ve ever heard.
There's never been a better time to be a "5 OH" owner. The amount of aftermarket support, and DIY videos is unbelievable! I bough my first car in 94 , right after I got out of HS, 87 GT, White w/ red interior. I've owned many more since that one, but wish I had it back!
I had an 89 gt hardtop white w red interior 5.0 5 speed back in 2003. It was a 115k mile car but it was very clean. I had a k&n, stock h with 2 cats hallowed, flows, 373 gears, shortened stock shifter handle because I was a broke 20 year old. It was solid white with the red pinstripe. .I sold it for 3500 in 2004. Today the same car would easily be 15k+ I wish I'd kept it. Back then you could find a nice fox anywhere for 3-6 grand even the heavily worked hci blower cars were going for 8-10k max I'm talking black on black 93 notch backs with low miles lol. It's insane how much different the prices are now. I wish I had a time machine who would have thought value would go up that much in less than 20 years on a car that common.
I'm 59, so the 79 Cobra Mustang was new when I was just turning 16. There were 535 people in my graduating class and I can only remember one Foxbody Mustang, but it definitely left an impression on everyone. It was a 302 2bbl Cobra with a 4 speed, but it could run with, if not outrun most of the cammed up Camaros, Firebirds and vintage Mustangs that were popular back then. I was a Chevy guy until the mid 90's when I finally bought my first Fox, which was a black 88 5.0 LX Convertible with a 5 speed, tan cloth interior and tan convertible top. A good friend still owns it to this day. I now have 4 Foxbody's. 2 89GT's, a Reef Blue 93 LX coupe, and a 91 GT that I've been a partner in for the last 25 years. Two are race cars and two are street cars. Just as the video describes, the friends I've made through cars in general have brought some of the best times of my life. I've spent a ridiculous amount of money on cars, often that didn't really have to spend, but I wouldn't change a thing.
When I was 17, one of my buddies had a 2011 5.0 and it was just an amazing car. I loved it so much that I got one when I turned 26 lol Now I’m 29 and my 5.0 still makes me smile 😎
Ppl still to this day will say- “This car is fast, it’ll outrun a five-o.” I think that speaks volumes to the legend that is fox body mustang. Undisputed king of the streets for many many years
I was hooked at 14 years old after my 1st ride in a brand new 88 Gt convertible. My friends older brother immediately lays into it an gets sideways coming out of our street. Getting thrown back in my seat and the sound that car made! There was nothing cooler. At 17 my first one was a jalapeño red 86 Gt. I loved that car! I meet my wife driving that car 😊
I've always liked the Foxbody Mustangs. I had Camaros and Chevelles back in the day (48 yrs old now) but had a couple friends in Mustangs. I just recently purchased a 90 GT. Super clean and stock except cold air intake and cat back system. Thanks for the great videos.
After sitting for 20 years I changed the battery in my 88 GT and the car started ... so did the nostalgia. My dad kept it alive for so long. Now that dad is dealing with health issues and Alzheimer's I wasn't sure if we would be able to go for a drive in a Fox again. Once I came to grips with the "beyond rotted floor pans and roof", I was on the hunt for the 2nd fox. Found it and I love it! My dad I have gone on lots of drives together and continue to make great memories. This time my wife (my girlfriend at the time of my first Foxbody) and I enjoy every part of the car and everything about it. Thank you and the other Fox guys for all you do - we love it!
I'm 28 and Australian, I grew up loving our locally made ford falcons falcons and all fords in general, in high school I'd watch street racing videos on UA-cam and fell in love with foxbodys and 03-04 cobras, and by extension a plethora of other American cars. I imported my own fox in 2018, a 1988 SSP, former oregon state patrol car, driving it for the first time was like meeting a childhood hero, it didn't disappoint. Not many Aussies know what it is or care, but on a few occasions I've been approached by Americans or Canadians who are amazed to see the car in this part of the world and tell me their own stories of their fox back home
That’s awesome buddy!!! Good for you. I love hearing stories like this. Have you searched UA-cam for guys that have swapped the inline 6 Barra motors into foxes? I’m aware of 2. That’s an impressive power plant that only you guys got. Pretty cool 👍
@@KASLCustoms cheers man! Yeah I'm familiar with those builds, love a good barra, but my fox is staying 5.0 powered, just finishing up a budget boost setup on it now, GT40p heads from a falcon XR8, GT40 intake, F303 cam and a vortech S trim
Very nice buddy!!! I’m glad to hear that you’re sticking with the 5.0 👊👊👊. I think the draw for me to the Barra is the fact that we don’t have them here so it just something different. I wouldn’t put one in a fox either but for those that want to swap their car to a 2JZ etc. I think the Barra is a cool option as it’s Ford!!!
Nostalgia! You hit the nail on the head. Back in the day my Fox did lead to friendships, good times, and a bit of trouble here and there. Great memories. Im staring down my 50th trip around the sun (how the fu.. did that happen!?!) I figured its time to pull the Fox out of storage (nearly 25 years now) and get her built and back on the road. Gys like you and Chris have been huge inspirations the past year and gave me the push to get the old girl out again. Hard to believe I've owned this same car for 31 years now!
My first ride as a newborn was in a Foxbody. My first drive by myself at 16 was in an SN95. I’ve never owned a Foxbody but proud to own 4 S197s. Someday I want to add a Fox. Most of my lasting friendships started thanks to the Mustang!!! Great video!!!
Everything you said is on the money. The Foxbody community is pretty tight and not just the Mustang cars, although there were some "Mustang only" snobs back in the day. Not so much anymore. I have a 1984 RS Capri still in the original tri-color white paint. I got the car from my dad in my early 20ies he bought the car new in 1984. My car is lowered with Centerline Scorpion rims. Other than the stance, rims and headlight covers, it looks completely factory. I have almost every suspension mod you can do and rocking a 347 stroker motor, super-fast. Very rare to see Capri's now-adays, very low production numbers (in 1984 just over 3,600 RS 5.0 cars) a lot of them ended up in the scrap yard because they received a lot of hate as the "imitation Mustang" back in the day. Now they are like hen's teeth. You have a good channel, keep up the cool videos!
Met most of my best friends through the Fox as well. #McDonalds parking lot 1998! 43 years old here :) Awesome video! Those sounds and smells will never be forgotten. Valley 5.0 was our crew.
It's funny for me as I was interested in cars long before I could even drive and was buying 5.0, MMFF, wantadpress etc...but ended up getting into early watercooled VW's and wasn't until I was 21 that I finally acquired my first fox. I love them all but particularly 85's and four eye cars more so. I mention that because in our area for a long LONG time you kinda got a cold shoulder from aero guys or not even acknowledged as a fox. Fast forward to recent times with all of them gaining value, and now having gotten more involved with going to carlisle ford nationals and meeting some people I coulden't agree more what is going on within this community is truly special. Specifically with all the different youtube channels that cross cover a lot of the same cars, jobs, and products while often shouting out to support eachothers channels. I own my 85 T-top now for over 10 yrs and plan to have it a very long time!
Great video! I just turned 46 on the 8th. I got my first fox right out of high school and after moving to a different state. After a few months I met some other guys with foxes and that was it, we were hanging out every night after work. But like you I didn't realize the greatness of the Fox community until the last 10 years or so.
Such a great video, just bang on! Once you hear your first Foxbody you're toast...it's like catching a virus and the cure makes you enjoy the virus, lol. I was 16 my buddy 19, he had just picked up a gorgeous '83 GT, 4pd, first drive I knew someday I'd have one, at 47 I'm now on number 7 and I plan on keeping this one. The cars may get us here but it's the community that not only keeps us here but makes us want to be more involved at every opportunity. Hoping to make Foxtober Fest in the next few years, need to get my car where I want it and do some planning, long drive from Nova Scotia, lol. Great vid!
Oh Gary! Nostalgia is right. For me it was seeing the 1987 Mustang GT's with ground effects in green with white convertible roof on the pedestal out front of the Ford dealership. I was 17 and couldn't afford the insurance let alone the price tag. I ended buying the closest thing I could afford. A 1981 Mercury Capri, 4 speed, 4 cylinder. Then a 1986 Ford Mustang LX Hatchback 4 cylinder automatic. I finally got my dream car at age 26 in 1996. My 1987 GT with T Tops in green. Took it to my first Fox Body car show this past fall. It was very exciting seeing all the cars and the people admiring them. You were right when you say you either had one, or wanted one. I will never part with it. Thanks for the video and your passion for these cars!!
Had an 84 with a CHP rear end, Ford Motorsport engine kit, giant Holley carb, 5 speed trans, deleted smog with straight dual exhaust ….thing just absolutely ripped!
Great video. Nothing brings a diverse group of people together like a Fox Body. I've been saying that ever since I bought mine. Thanks for the cameo appearance at 10:10. That's my silver coupe in the background at Fox Resto. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
First! I'm 54. I had a 79 V8 notch in 87 and I've owned my 93 Reef Blue Metallic coupe for 28 years. Considering buying a 79 Turbo sunroof hatch that has been stored for over 35 yrs
I'll be 42 this spring. I grew up in the 90's and when i was 16, i had a buddy who was 17 show up with a 86GT. I had no idea what it was, and thought it was just an ugly hatchback. Then he took me for a ride. 3.73's, 5-spd, off-road exhaust and some other mods. I remember hm just ripping through the gear with me hanging on for dear life. When i turned 17, i bought my '88 LX. All my friends had them through my late teens and early 20's. As they married and had kids, those fox bodies got sold. Eventually it was just me. I've had my fox for almost 25 years which is more than half my life and every time i bump into an old friend, they are shocked to find I still have the car. First thing they always say...."I wish i never got rid of mine".
I'm 45. First fox was a 4 banger at 16 years old. Second was a Carolina Blue LX convertible with a white top. Third was a black on black 93 GT. I just bought a Black On Black 93 Cobra... Once you have a Fox there is no shaking it.. Best of the old and new and will put a smile on your face along with the community.... Nicely Put Mr. KASL
All 3 points are so accurate. I remember in 1993, ( I was 13) my friends brother got a 1989 burgundy color fox with T-tops. That was the moment I fell in love. I would go and grab the WantAd magazine monthly and look up foxbodys
Awesome, Awesome video! Yes, in my high school days I was one of those guys owning a 1979 Camero Z28 but admiring the foxbody. One of my best friends owned one. Somedays we would cruise around town in my Z28 and not many people would notice, but days later cruising the same streets in the foxboy several people would yell at us, "Nice Car". Now I as I cruise around town in my dad's '93 Foxboy Convertible, people of all ages and even guys driving new 2022 Corvettes - yelling at stop lights... "NICE CAR".
Thanks for the great video. Tomorrow driving from Illinois to my sons house in Janesville Wisconsin to paint his 1990 notch. He replace a quarter panel we’ve been prepping for a while. Fun people those Fox enthusiasts. I’m 70 mine is a ‘87 notch still having fun.
Great video I'm 51 now and just love talking about the good ol days. I drove around a 64 f100 in high school love and miss that truck now I have my 89gt and 88 coupe. On another note I hope the aftermarket brings us roof skins I could use one to redo my coupe. Thanks for sharing.
I recently pulled the trigger on a red 88 vert. I've been in the hotrodding community for some time now but this is my first fox. I've owned a few other mustangs including the classics, sn95, and 197s. There's just something different about driving the fox body that isn't like the rest. Not a lot of folks in my neck of the woods with a fox body but I remember a time when the streets were overrun with them. I appreciate your content as well as all the other fox body guys. I've found myself listening to your pods, watching your videos and reading up on everything fox body! Keep the content coming and thank you for sharing your passion with the world. I'm already looking to add a notch to my collection
You sir are 110% correct on the folks I have met and became friends with because of my foxbodys. These were also my high school hot rods. I had an 86 that I loved. I no longer have it but have 6 others. I am 47 and remember cruising around when these cars came out. All the things that make these cars have stuck with me also. You sir are RIGHT ON THE MONEY!
Great video!! My 85 SVO is my first Foxbody, at the age of 55. It took me 2 years to go from a roller, to the 351w powered restro Hotrod it is today. I did a lot of research and work to it way before I installed the engine. We did Subframe connectors, 6 point roll bar, upgraded the rear axle, replaced lots of bushings and components underneath the car…….. . I’ve yet to make it to a major event, but I have plans to attend a few events in 2023 ❤
Hi Gary. What a great video. You so eloquently put into words how those of us who are fortunate enough to own these cars feel about them. There's just a certain intangible there that's so difficult to explain to the nonbelievers. The three reasons you discussed are spot on, and for me, there's one more. A well maintained foxbody is just so damn much fun to drive. I'm a somewhat elderly gent, but every time I twist the key, listen to it fire up and slip it into gear, I half giggle to myself knowing how much fun I'm about to have. Thanks for another terrific video. Bill.
Absolutely true, 3 great points and the most important I would say. I'm new to the media foxbody community, but I've been a foxbody enthusiast for over 15 years ever since I first bought my ex 93 CHP car. Unfortunately, I had to sell it and wished and desired for another for so long 😪. Fast forward 15 years later, the first opportunity I could I'd buy another, and as of today, I'm a proud owner of a 1992 GT and a 1988 Notchback. And you are correct. Everyone that I've reached out to, including Chris with The Infamous Project, has helped me figure out some little issues with my car. Amazing video. Now I hope I get to drive my car all the way to Canada one day and meet ya 🇨🇦 👍🏻
Man o man! Talk about nostalgia. I remember it like it was yesterday when my coworker at the frozen yogurt store drove me home in a brand new LX auto. I was amazed. It felt so fast . His dad worked at a local Ford dealer and took it home for a few days .
This man speaks the truth. I was bitten just like he mentioned. I remember the first ride like it was yesterday. Took me a bit longer then 2 years to get mine. More like 10 but it was well worth the wait. Still have the car and it’s still as reliable as my new cars, with some regular maintenance. Can’t part with mine. It’s part of the family and it takes me back to my youth with the turn of the key.
Great video It's hard to get the message across but I think you nailed it. Only thing to add is once you own a fox the sound and feel of certain things you will only get with a fox.
Thanks buddy and well said. Yes I agree, I struggled with finding a way to convey this "feeling" we all have for a long time so I hope it was well received and explained it correctly.
Great video bud, me being 57 and former of 3 Foxes, my first was a 4 eye 85 GT after riding a school buddy rode in his 86 GT, it made me to want one real bud, 2 years later in 89, bought my 85. Had not one since 2010, would love to get one again.
That’s very true about getting bit by the Fox Body bug! I had a Mustang LX Hatchback with a slushbox, and and the telephone 15 inch wheels. Enjoyed that car in my 20’s I’m in my 40’s and I still want it back. When I do get it in back I’m definitely doing a coyote swap.
Nostolgia is why I am still driving an 88 Trans Am for almost 20 years. Never been into the foxbodys, but I always loved that distinct sound the 5.0l made. The notchbacks can be pretty light when stripped down making them still highly desirable drag cars.
I was 33 when I bought my 88 GT convertible. I still have her. I lived in Los Angeles and for me it was perfect. I remember that my spikey hair would rub against the top. LOL.
I have a 91 notch that is deep emerald green as well. It's not as easy to work on since mine is far from stock. But hopefully, by year end, it will run again.
Great video on point, Been doing this fox stuff for 30 years now out here in Socal .allways meeting great people and making new friends with the same thing in common mustangs and foxes...keep up the good work bro...
Love reading these comments and the different stories that led everyone to a fox. For me it was my cousins, they all had one when I was a kid. At 31 almost 32 I own 2 90 5.0s, a 7up and a Coupe. Sadly I had to get rid of my 1979 coupe a couple weeks ago. Hope to get another 4 eye in the future.
I’m at touch older then you , but I too remember seeing the foxbodys driving around and saw a 86 gt fuel injected car brand new from my dads friend and seeing another guys 83 gt and I was in love , picked up my 88gt when I could afford it and couldn’t let go when I moved west , now my dad has it making memories and meeting ppl. But in general…I think this could be with a lot of cars … I’m finding this now with my svt contour and terminator. Great video !
Bought mine new in '88. Was a DD for 4 years & a garage queen since then. Most mods except for engine internals. One of the 1st few ProCharged in the world.
Thank you for this I have a 92 fox and have been thinking a little about selling it because of always having to work on it. But really do not want to this video reminded me of why I brought this car. Thank you
Only those who truly understand will understand the community. I currently own two. One is my first fox. A 93 Reef Blue lx hatch, I bought back in 96. The other a 89 I picked up 6yrs ago. You can never have to many. Would love to add a white one to the mix. I've owned a few. But my 93 has always been the one to stay and will for as long as I can. I'm 48 so I've been around them a long long time.
The Mustang community around me includes Foxbody and SN95 owners. I've noticed these people will wave or give you a nod as you drive past each other in your Mustangs. There are some hot rod hangouts around town that people meet up with their muscle cars and older classic cars. The local Sonic drive in, an ice cream shop and a couple of other places.
I only know you through u tube but I feel like we grew up together and I talked to a lot of great people like Jim and Chris and Matt because of your channel thank you
Looking forward to driving a foxbody someday. I’m currently 20 but my father owned several growing up. It felt great riding around in it and hearing the intoxicating sound of them. He sold the last one to a young adult neighbor at the time and that’s been his last one. That was about 6 years ago or so. I always wanted to drive it but never had the chance to as I was still young. He still wants another foxbody, specifically an 88 and a hatch. I’d love to be able to buy it for him and I hope I can before the prices skyrocket even more & are harder to find.😬There’s something about the hatchbacks that I love and so does he. When we do buy one he thinks it’d be sweet to at some point swap it for a 5.0 or a 4.6 4v.
I had a 93 5.0 hatchback with a speed a couple years ago that I wish I still had. Luckily a friend of mine has one also that he's talked about selling so I might get back into the foxbody game sometime.
Awesome video. I just found your channel. Subbed twice. I have 2 Channels. You sound just like me, after you finished your list. I am actually editing a video right now saying the same thing. But it's the scale model car community. We all do the same thing. We have events all over the country. I'm in Phoenix and another one of the You Tubers in my community, and I met up in Atlanta for a show. Never met before. We rolled and bunked together and became the closest of friends. But now on Foxbody Mustangs.I am a bit older then you. I'm 56. I never owned a Fox Mustang before. Really most of my cars were Chevy. (I'm a car guy. Not a car Brand, guy) I always had an interest in the car once the 87 FIVE-O hit. Man it grabbed me. But never jumped in. Then in 2015. I had sold off or was selling. All of my cars. Except my daily 06 Mustang. I wanted to finally try out the Fox Mustang. And I found my under 100k not very modded 88 GT 5 speed. It has an absolute shit paint job. I slap stickers all over it. It turns off other Foxbody owners but it's mine and I'm having fun. But I do not have any community. There are quite a few of these cars around here. I tried hanging out and getting involved. All nice people. But something was off. First. My car was a roach next to theirs. I don't care. But all of their shit was sweet. Non of them even took a look at mine or asked me anything about it. Also, the Fox Mustang community is made up of mostly people around your age. No one wanted to bother with the old man, with the clapped out 88. Don't get me wrong. Super nice people. But I did not get accepted. Some of them had their kids. I had my Grandson. And he loves the car. If they only bothered to let me in and find out more about me. This old man had some skills, knowledge and some useful stuff in my garage that could benefit the community. But no one bothered. So it's just my grandson and I when it comes to my Fox. I am so far away from all of the great events. But I do hope to make it back east to Foxtoberfest,, Ford Takeover or maybe more likely because of the lower distance. The LMR Gathering. I bet that I'd make some great Fox Mustang friends out that way. Anyways, you were 100% on point. Now I'll got check out more of your content
I had an 86 saleen and 87 gt with a 351w. Sold them both. I really miss my 86. I wish I never sold it. You are right. I'm working on my Cobra now, you can see my video if you want, It reminds me of my Mustangs. So many fun days in the Fox Mustangs.
Great video as always brother! Thanks to you and your videos I was able to fix a few issues. Can’t wait for Foxtoberfest 2023! Thank You for all you do to help those that need it like myself!
I purchased my Mustang GT 5 speed manual brand new in 1986. I had that Fox for 36 years! She looked better when I sold her than she did new. These lightweight chassis are a nice base for an aftermarket build…anyway you want it.
I bought my 91GT in 2004 paid four thousand for it and it was in great condition still have it twenty years later. My kids are starting to get old enough and there getting interested in it.
I have a blk '87 gt, I have owned this car since '93, I bought it when I was 20, only has 65,000 miles, I put a 351w, I still drive it, not alot. Love my fox body
I was 38 when I ordered my 89 LX Sport Hatch in October of 88, and I still have it in top order to this day, I get it because they a very special and I'm 73 now.
Don't be worried about figuring out how to fix these cars. I use to hate these cars but I came to admire/love almost all of these awesome cars. I think the Foxbody community is so great because it has the most diverse people color/age/gender. Plus most of these people will almost break their backs to help you( Gary&Chris for example). It's just money buy one or 4,10,20 before they are all gone.
@@KASLCustoms Being I grew up in the 90's.. I saw a lot of them.. and one of my mothers ex's back then had one.. That's when I really started to like them.. but Never pulled the trigger
@@KASLCustoms coming back to this comment just to say I went a bought one lol. I’m officially part of the 🦊 family. Gotta say the car is a little bit beat but I’m gonna do my best to get it restored
Get an 1985 mustang, it's carb, so simple to work on. It also had the most HP of the late fox body without fuel injection. My past 85 mustang gt had 112k miles when I sold it to a friend in 1990. In 1994, 134k miles bought a rebuilt motor for it. Drove it to over 150k miles, and the reason he traded it in was because of theft. His girl lived in a very bad neighborhood in Boston, and faced several break ins, but the car had a security lock out to start. In 1997, went to pick up my son from his mother. Drove past this small independent car sales place. Looked over, and saw what I thought was my gt for sale, but couldn't stop because had to pickup my son. I still had about 20 miles to pick him up. Thinking about the car the whole way. So on the way back, stopped to see it was my old gt. It was, shocking since I didn't see it for many of years. The odometer should 53k on it, because there was no 100k digit. Talking to the dealer didn't mention that I previously owned it. The dealer said it only had 53k on it. The interior still looked great, because it never was abused. After the dealer said it only has that 53k, I had to correct him, and tell him it was 153k and not 53k miles. This dealer bought the car at a car auction, and never received the key to turn off the safety switch to start it. The dealer asked if I could solve it, and did. Damn I should have charged him 200 dollars for it. They had the car for 3 weeks without being able to sell it, because who buys a car without driving it.
I got mine. Got my 82 GT that my parent's bought new. Been in the family since 82. Learned to drive in it. I was 7 when we got it. And it's not stock now. Kinda wish it was though such an important car for the GT lineage so to speak
I had a buddy who took me for a ride in his 87 LX. My Dad had an 89 RS Camaro that I was all in on, until that ride. I ended up buying an 88, GT , AOD at age 20 that I had to sell a year later. I almost cried when it left my Driveway. I missed it every day. I'd be mowing the lawn a few years later and hear a Fox from miles away. I swore I'd buy another one and did in 2016 after finding my old one but couldn't wrestle it away. It's amazing how many resources are available today. I am absolutely not a mechanic. I knew nothing about working on them. I've learned to work on my own, I do not bring it to the shop, I do it myself. Ive surrounded myself with people who love these cars and they all want to see you succeed in your project. I'm not sure if Camaro people are like that or Mopar people, frankly I don't care. I love these cars and they ARE the reason I'm into cars. It's so awesome to own one these days and the thumbs up you get out on the street, not to mention how many people want to race them hahaha! Great video, all very real, valid points. Go get yourself one before it's too late (been screaming this for 5-6 years).
Bought my first 5.0 fox in 87 , it was a beat up 82. Traded it for an 85 gt . Now have 88 notch . Best thing is the amount of new and used parts. Worst thing…. Chasing vacuum leaks! Lol
"Pete's car" lives accross the street from mine. Sounds like it'll ride again with a bigger bullet. I was already following the channel when I found out you and your car came from the "windy city" area. I was like what? Small world this foxbody thing.
I have a 79 capri 5.0 rs Bought it 1.5 years ago for 2 k as a project. No lisc smog reg has x pipe no cats. I could budget 8 -10k but it needs everything.
My first ride was in a 83 T-Bird on Daytons. I was in 8th grade. I fell in love with the body style, I am die hard Foxbody but not like you guys Im all t-bird/Mark 7 ✌️
Way to get sappy, ha ha...but I loved it. It's inspiration to get out in the garage more and get mine back on the road...or maybe I need to get another driver for while I'm finishing my project (especially since mine is going to be about 75% race car when it's done).
I'm 49 I personally don't have anything against foxes but I prefer sn95s, I have a 95 gt 5 speed convertible which to me is the best of both worlds. It has a 5.0 but it has a refined fox chassis and overall it is flat out beautiful and I love the dual cockpit interior. They get hate for some reason but I don't get it. I understand the hate on the 2v 4.6 versions but not the car I think there better looking than the new edges. I have 18x9 cobra wheels with 1" spacers on front and 1.5" in rear and it looks badass to me. I can say when I was young even tho I was a 3rd gen Camaro guy I had an 85 Z but in my mind I always felt the 5.0 5 speed foxes were actual performance vehicals compared to the Camaros even the Irocs. They just always gave me the vibe of a sporty cruiser vs the go to hot street car.
Had 2 ....brand new Black 85 GT / 23 years old. 1987 Saleen #65 Gray 2 owner. I am 60 now. Into the Euro stuff now. The 87 Saleen I sold wish I still had it.
Love it!
Wow what a story! Thanks so much for sharing buddy!!!
Wow what a story! Thanks so much for sharing. Good luck with that 86 👌
I have a 93 b cam feature 5.0 and the Flowmasters are so good on it.
I’ve had my 91 since I was I was 19 and am 44 now. It got its second coat of Wild strawberry/titanium last year since the factory. It’s a conversation starter everywhere it goes. You are correct, the mustang community is good people.
That’s awesome! Yup I agree 100%
Growing up, I remember seeing and hearing them all over on the streets, at the malls, arcades, and movie theaters. You knew when you saw the "5.0" badge on the fender it was a quick car. Nothing better than a Foxbody mustang!🐺
Amen to that!!!
It was more fun embarrassing Camero owners with my 86 SVO everyone always said it sounded strange for a 5.0L then I open the hood and there is a 4 cylinder popping away.
🤣🤣🤣
Thats a great story buddy - thanks for sharing! I agree 100%
Well said buddy! Thanks for sharing!!
There's never been a better time to be a "5 OH" owner. The amount of aftermarket support, and DIY videos is unbelievable! I bough my first car in 94 , right after I got out of HS, 87 GT, White w/ red interior. I've owned many more since that one, but wish I had it back!
Well said buddy!
There has always been a huge aftermarket support for them.
So true!
WOW what a story! Thank you so much for sharing. I love hearing folks back stories like this!!
When I was 17, one of my buddies had a 2011 5.0 and it was just an amazing car. I loved it so much that I got one when I turned 26 lol
Now I’m 29 and my 5.0 still makes me smile 😎
Right on!!!
Ppl still to this day will say- “This car is fast, it’ll outrun a five-o.” I think that speaks volumes to the legend that is fox body mustang. Undisputed king of the streets for many many years
Very well said my friend! I wished I would have said that in my video because your are 100% correct!
That’s amazing! I love hearing everyone’s stories. Thanks for sharing my friend!
I've always liked the Foxbody Mustangs. I had Camaros and Chevelles back in the day (48 yrs old now) but had a couple friends in Mustangs. I just recently purchased a 90 GT. Super clean and stock except cold air intake and cat back system. Thanks for the great videos.
Right on! No problem!!
That’s an awesome story buddy, I’m so happy for you. Thanks so much for sharing! Keep making those memories 🙏
That is awesome buddy! Thank you so much for the kind words and thanks for sharing the old war stories!! Get that old girl out and keep us posted!
That’s awesome!
Thats amazing! It sounds like a really nice car. Thank you for the kind words!
Met most of my best friends through the Fox as well. #McDonalds parking lot 1998! 43 years old here :) Awesome video! Those sounds and smells will never be forgotten. Valley 5.0 was our crew.
That’s awesome! Yessir I agree 👊
Thats awesome buddy! Thanks for sharing the story. Really appreciate the kind words
Great video! I just turned 46 on the 8th. I got my first fox right out of high school and after moving to a different state. After a few months I met some other guys with foxes and that was it, we were hanging out every night after work. But like you I didn't realize the greatness of the Fox community until the last 10 years or so.
Yessir - its a very special group of folks!!
Great vid!
That’s awesome! Thanks so much for sharing bud 👊👊👊🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hey Steve! Great story buddy and thanks so much for sharing.
Had an 84 with a CHP rear end, Ford Motorsport engine kit, giant Holley carb, 5 speed trans, deleted smog with straight dual exhaust ….thing just absolutely ripped!
Nice!!!
Great video. Nothing brings a diverse group of people together like a Fox Body. I've been saying that ever since I bought mine. Thanks for the cameo appearance at 10:10. That's my silver coupe in the background at Fox Resto. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Yessir! Thanks for reaching out buddy and very good eye as well 😉👊👊
First!
I'm 54. I had a 79 V8 notch in 87 and I've owned my 93 Reef Blue Metallic coupe for 28 years. Considering buying a 79 Turbo sunroof hatch that has been stored for over 35 yrs

@@KASLCustoms lol I have no idea what that means.

@@KASLCustoms Cool! Back at ya brother!
Yessir 😉😂
100% some of my greatest friends came from my lifelong fox addiction. Great video!
Me too! Thank you!!
Big reason why I got another Fox after 20 plus years. Great vid!
Thank you!
Well said! Thanks for sharing 👍👍
KASL
Thx buddy! So true
1st time listener/subscriber. 1991 foxbody LX 5.0 5 spd conv. Navy blue. 23 years. 64K. Thank you for the podcast. jay griffith Huntsville, AL
That’s awesome!!! Thanks so much Jay 🙏
I’m on my third one, it’s a 1988 GT T-Top and this one is it for me. I’m not letting it go and I’m gonna make my vision of it come to reality.
That’s awesome!
All 3 points are so accurate. I remember in 1993, ( I was 13) my friends brother got a 1989 burgundy color fox with T-tops. That was the moment I fell in love. I would go and grab the WantAd magazine monthly and look up foxbodys
Thx bud! Hahaha that’s awesome! I love the stories folks are sharing. Thank you!
"NICE CAR".
😂👍👍👍
I've had my Fox body "to do" list in my head since high school. Finally got the Fox and the list is just about complete. 25+ years in the making.
😂👍
Thanks for the great video. Tomorrow driving from Illinois to my sons house in Janesville Wisconsin to paint his 1990 notch. He replace a quarter panel we’ve been prepping for a while. Fun people those Fox enthusiasts. I’m 70 mine is a ‘87 notch still having fun.
Thank you! That’s awesome!! Good luck on the paint job 👍👍👍
Great video I'm 51 now and just love talking about the good ol days. I drove around a 64 f100 in high school love and miss that truck now I have my 89gt and 88 coupe. On another note I hope the aftermarket brings us roof skins I could use one to redo my coupe. Thanks for sharing.
I love the old Ford trucks too!!!
Congrats on the foxbody sir and welcome to the family. Thank you very much for the kind words, it truly means more to me then words can ever say.
Thx buddy!
Great video!! My 85 SVO is my first Foxbody, at the age of 55. It took me 2 years to go from a roller, to the 351w powered restro Hotrod it is today. I did a lot of research and work to it way before I installed the engine. We did Subframe connectors, 6 point roll bar, upgraded the rear axle, replaced lots of bushings and components underneath the car…….. . I’ve yet to make it to a major event, but I have plans to attend a few events in 2023 ❤
Thank you!! Right on - hope to see it in person!!
@@KASLCustoms my plan is to be at Ford Takeover this year for sure.
Right on!
Bill.
Hey Bill!! Coming from a fella like yourself that has such a way with words, that means a lot to me!!! Thanks so much my friend 🙏🙏🙏
Thats awesome! Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out bud! Really great to hear from you and yes, a meet up would be great
Man o man! Talk about nostalgia. I remember it like it was yesterday when my coworker at the frozen yogurt store drove me home in a brand new LX auto. I was amazed. It felt so fast . His dad worked at a local Ford dealer and took it home for a few days .
Hahaha see - we all have a story like this!
Thank you very much! And thank you for sharing your story 🙏
Born in 01 and it was a 79 f150 4x4 with a 460. I have not forgotten I was 15 or so
Great video bud, me being 57 and former of 3 Foxes, my first was a 4 eye 85 GT after riding a school buddy rode
in his 86 GT, it made me to want one real bud, 2 years later in 89, bought my 85. Had not one since 2010, would
love to get one again.
Thanks sir! You need to get another!!
Gary that clip of Chris trying to wake you up is priceless!!!
🤣🤣🤣
That’s very true about getting bit by the Fox Body bug! I had a Mustang LX Hatchback with a slushbox, and and the telephone 15 inch wheels. Enjoyed that car in my 20’s I’m in my 40’s and I still want it back. When I do get it in back I’m definitely doing a coyote swap.
hahaha nice!
Nostolgia is why I am still driving an 88 Trans Am for almost 20 years. Never been into the foxbodys, but I always loved that distinct sound the 5.0l made. The notchbacks can be pretty light when stripped down making them still highly desirable drag cars.
Agreed! I’m building a 78 TA as we speak 😉
I was 33 when I bought my 88 GT convertible. I still have her. I lived in Los Angeles and for me it was perfect. I remember that my spikey hair would rub against the top. LOL.
hahaha thats awesome!
Thx so much my friend! Much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏
Me too buddy! Thanks for sharing yours!!
Thanks buddy! And thanks for sharing the story. Yes I agree with you 100%
Bought mine new in '88. Was a DD for 4 years & a garage queen since then. Most mods except for engine internals. One of the 1st few ProCharged in the world.
That’s awesome!
Great Video. That foxbody has its own sound. Not only easy to work on, but fun as well, there’s so much after market add ons.
Thank you! Yes you are absolutely correct
Totally agree!!! Great video...I can relate to so much of your video!! Thanks for sharing!!!👍👍
Thank you for this I have a 92 fox and have been thinking a little about selling it because of always having to work on it. But really do not want to this video reminded me of why I brought this car. Thank you
You’re welcome! Hang on to that fox!! 👊
Well said buddy!!!
I only know you through u tube but I feel like we grew up together and I talked to a lot of great people like Jim and Chris and Matt because of your channel thank you
Awe thx buddy! I really appreciate that 👊
Looking forward to driving a foxbody someday.
That’s awesome buddy!! Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you so much - very much appreciated and thank you for sharing your story!
I had an 86 saleen and 87 gt with a 351w. Sold them both. I really miss my 86. I wish I never sold it. You are right. I'm working on my Cobra now, you can see my video if you want, It reminds me of my Mustangs. So many fun days in the Fox Mustangs.
Awesome bud I will check it out for sure!
Great video as always brother! Thanks to you and your videos I was able to fix a few issues. Can’t wait for Foxtoberfest 2023! Thank You for all you do to help those that need it like myself!
Thx so much buddy!!! I really appreciate it 🙏💚🙏💚🙏
Everything you said was true Gary! Love this channel
Thanks so much buddy!
I purchased my Mustang GT 5 speed manual brand new in 1986. I had that Fox for 36 years! She looked better when I sold her than she did new.
These lightweight chassis are a nice base for an aftermarket build…anyway you want it.
Thats awesome! Thanks for sharing buddy and yes, I agree 100%
I own a s197 but I still love to fox bodies takes me back to my childhood
Nice! Haha yup once they bite ya your done!
I bought my 91GT in 2004 paid four thousand for it and it was in great condition still have it twenty years later. My kids are starting to get old enough and there getting interested in it.
Hell yeah!
I have a blk '87 gt, I have owned this car since '93, I bought it when I was 20, only has 65,000 miles, I put a 351w, I still drive it, not alot. Love my fox body
Right on!
I was 38 when I ordered my 89 LX Sport Hatch in October of 88, and I still have it in top order to this day, I get it because they a very special and I'm 73 now.
Thats amazing!
Thanks so much buddy! 🙏🙏🙏
I'm gonna go in my garage and just sit in my 92GT just cuz of your video ;)
😂
I have never been a fan of Mustang.. But it is my favorite style.. and I did almost buy an old Fox Body GT when I was younger..
I know that owning one myself has brought a ton of joy to my life 👍
@@KASLCustoms Being I grew up in the 90's.. I saw a lot of them.. and one of my mothers ex's back then had one.. That's when I really started to like them.. but Never pulled the trigger
All well said Thanks for your time and the great videos as always
🙏🙏🙏
My biggest regret in life is getting married and not buying an LX 5.0 notch. I fixed the 1st one. Bought a Terminator so all is not lost
Best video I’ve seen in a while! Very well put! Thanks for that. Keep the content coming
Thx so much bud! Will do!!
Man I’m about to turn 20, I just want one because of how beautiful they look when well done
Thats awesome pal! Come join the 🦊 family!!
@@KASLCustoms coming back to this comment just to say I went a bought one lol. I’m officially part of the 🦊 family. Gotta say the car is a little bit beat but I’m gonna do my best to get it restored
Well done buddy! Congrats 🥳
That’s an awesome story buddy!!! Wow 🤯. I was hoping you were going to tell me that you got a good deal on it and bought it back!!
Great vid buddy, hope to meet up one day 👊🏼👊🏼 gotta love them foxes !!
Thx pal - yes absolutely!!! 👊🍻
I got mine. Got my 82 GT that my parent's bought new. Been in the family since 82. Learned to drive in it. I was 7 when we got it. And it's not stock now. Kinda wish it was though such an important car for the GT lineage so to speak
Oh wow that’s amazing 👊
Great video man and couldnt agree more with your top 3! Hopefully ill get the chance to meet you at McCurdy Corner next year!!
Thanks buddy! Yes absolutely!!
Love your videos. I have a 86 that is bone stock besides the exhaust. There is no other sound like the 302.
Thx buddy!!! Nice!
That linktree 🌳 is sick! Oh, and nice video, spot on brother 👌
Thanks so much buddy! A fellow Foxbody friend of mine did it up for me 👍
@KASLCustoms that was me, you dork 😆
🤣🤣🤣 to be honest, I wondered if it was you when I responded 😂. you’re tricking me with your undercover names!
@@KASLCustoms cat fished
I've always wanted a notch back lx. But I couldn't afford one when I was younger. I want to get one.
Love your channel man. Hoping to get a vert Fox in the next year or two.
Thank buddy!!! Right on 👊
I had a buddy who took me for a ride in his 87 LX.
Thats awesome buddy! Thanks so much for sharing. I agree 100%
I purchased my 86GT when I was 21. Still have it to this day. I’m now 52.
YES!!! That is awesome!
Bought my first 5.0 fox in 87 , it was a beat up 82. Traded it for an 85 gt . Now have 88 notch . Best thing is the amount of new and used parts. Worst thing…. Chasing vacuum leaks! Lol
Hahahahaha so true buddy!!! Thanks for the laugh 👊
Got one. 88 5.0 hatch with a cam kinda crusty she's a work in progress. Was gonna be a race but the guy got a 88 with T tops and let it go to me.
I've had my 91 LX 5.0 for over 15 years. It ain't goin no where!
Right on!!!
Damn right Gary. To true. Great video.
Thx so much buddy!!!
"Pete's car" lives accross the street from mine. Sounds like it'll ride again with a bigger bullet. I was already following the channel when I found out you and your car came from the "windy city" area. I was like what? Small world this foxbody thing.
Oh no kidding!? That crazy
I have a 79 capri 5.0 rs
Bought it 1.5 years ago for 2 k as a project.
No lisc smog reg has x pipe no cats.
I could budget 8 -10k but it needs everything.
I bought a 89 Mitsubishi starion which are fairly rare. But good luck getting parts for it.
My first ride was in a 83 T-Bird on Daytons. I was in 8th grade. I fell in love with the body style, I am die hard Foxbody but not like you guys Im all t-bird/Mark 7 ✌️
👊👊👊
Way to get sappy, ha ha...but I loved it. It's inspiration to get out in the garage more and get mine back on the road...or maybe I need to get another driver for while I'm finishing my project (especially since mine is going to be about 75% race car when it's done).
Hahaha thx buddy!
I have a 91 fox mustang and a 87 fox cougar XR7, both identical in many ways
Had 2 ....brand new Black 85 GT / 23 years old. 1987 Saleen #65 Gray 2 owner. I am 60 now. Into the Euro stuff now. The 87 Saleen I sold wish I still had it.
Oh wow very cool!
