Really love that you mentioned the Wolfenstein and Sniper Elite: Zombie Army games with the Sci-Fi and dark fantasy elements that seem to be behind this game, and excellent presentation of this all!

This game is giving me some NecroVision vibes which is interesting. It would be nice if this game had a similarly dark atmosphere whilst making the player feel powerful, yet vulnerable.
Not gonna lie, I've burnt out on WW1-2 games a long time ago, but Trench Tales might be one I make an exception for.
You've mentioned that "most WW2 games take the setting super seriously and be as historically accurate as possible" . . . well, that was true for Brothers in Arms, Medal of Honor and CoD titles around the same time (mid 2000s), but I've seen so many newer games butcher history, that they seem more like fantasy, than anything else. Now I also dislike weapons getting butchered in the name of "modifications" like TT does, BUT I don't mind it in this case, because of the dark setting. Guns don't need to make sense, if they were modified by crazy trench engineers trying to make a breakthrough after years of stalemates or trying to fend off the . . . zombies.
Yeah, don't remember many other game since NecroVision that used the WW1 extended, supernatural setting.
Hope they can take advantage of it and really build on the atmosphere.
